I think we can agree that “peace and goodwill to all men” is an all inclusive turn of phrase 
It wasn’t personal.
After being almost two decades at my doctors office they asked me what gender I wanted to be identified with.
I asked, “Aren’t many Prescription meds are specifically prescribed by gender?”
In English, “mankind” was used for hundreds of years, without any offense, as “woman” is by definition, “from man”; hence the inclusion.
People did not know to get offended for centuries until recently when politicians told us so.
