Rip it off. And try again.

My whole abdomen is sick of infusion sets. Everywhere I place them they hurt or bleed of become painful or stop working. my abdomen needs a break. At lunch time I did something bad and just tore the stickier off and went for a walk. I was ready for a change.

I did replace it when I got back to work from the walk.

Here’s a question- how close can I plant and infusion set in the back of my arm to a cgm sensor?

We can cry together, all my sites so far have been bloody, sore and angry. There would be an occasional site that isn’t angry. :(

That is a question that I’m seeking answers for as well. I’ve seen people do it on their stomachs with their Dexcoms. But my infusion set tubing isn’t that long, might be a case of tug a war with it.

Hello,

How is everyone? I’m not too moody, only moody when it comes to sensor and infusion set changes. The needle is pretty long and thick, not as thick as back in the day, but enough for it to not feel like a scratch. Rocking the bleeding sensor and all.

Friday tomorrow, yay!

It’s my mum’s birthday soon so I personalised a card for her, pretty disappointed that moon pig didn’t recognise my Chinese characters so my mum is going to receive a card with English in it. But I added a very sad face to the back of the card, so when she closes the card, she can see my sad face. XD

Infusion sets come with different length tubing Mei, or you could change where the pump is clipped on to you, so that you can have the cannula in your stomach.

I'm sure your mum will just be happy to get a card from you for her birthday. It's the thought that counts.

Hi,

You just reminded me Moon pig let me down with a card I ordered for my mum back in July?
I ordered the card so I could write in it myself.. No show... I found something half decent (& fitting.) elsewhere.

This huge spike at 7 pm??? I decided to take a hot shower. I started out at 4.2 (76) and figured I would love a hot shower and have to wash my hair, how bad could I get? 30 minute later.........13.0 (234) is how bad. No food involved for several hours prior. Others drop. I spike.

I take cooler showers and this reminds me why. I felt like bunk after.

Diabetes is weird like that isn't it @Marie 2
Case in point, no badge for me today, woke to 12.6 What's that all about? No doubt liver will throw in a few more bits of glucose so I'll be as high as a kite in a couple of hours.
Anyway, enough moaning from me, morning all. It's Friday and it might not rain.

I’ve woken up at 6.3 but during the night I was at 15 after going to bed at a decent level. I think I need to up my bolus only slightly, It’s been 3/4 weeks now since diagnosis and the nurse said that we might need to change this over time

I hope everyone has a lovely day!!! My mother in law bought me the nicest pure green tea leaves straight from Japan! So I’m off to boil some

Morning all, @SueJB it might not rain here either - but I think it will! I keep getting obstacles thrown in the way of doing all this work in the garden and it's driving me crazy, I just want to get on with it.

Had a session with dog trainer yesterday as my now very large puppy - 17 months old with a 7 month old brain with some things - which was very helpful. I still think, as they're a breed which matures late, I've a while to go before she'll be anywhere near reliable off lead, so staying on lead still. I really think it's time I changed my avatar to show her instead of my last dog. P'raps I'll do that if I get rained off gardening!

Have a good day all, hope everyone has trouble free bgs/cannula/injection sites, and all the other things that go with T1!

Rain's stopped play @hh1 so no gardening for me either.
I used to have what is charmingly called a crossbreed ie mongrel who at 7 years old acted like an idiot, loved him to bits.

I got things happening like this during the morning routine prior to work? After the shower was OK.
It seemed to be during or after the dog walks..

Morning all
Grey out there but happy person here 5.2. A badge day

It was weird yesterday, I'd been gardening all day, came in checked BG and it was 10 something so I stuck in 1 unit. A couple of hours later BG 2.7. Anyone know why or can have a guess?
My only assisted hypo happened after spending a couple of hours using a new lawnmower. On finishing, I was about BG 12, so administered a correction dose then walked 10 min to the local shops. Big mistake - I crashed faster than I have ever experienced before or since (knew I was going hypo but blacked out before I could eat anything). Short answer is that slow steady exercise eg gardening, long brisk walk, etc seems to massively increase my insulin sensitivity. Could be the case for you - especially if all day in the garden?

Thanks @oldgreymare, it's an idea, sorry to hear of your hypo. I haven't got a lawn just masses of garden that needs weeding etc.

Hi guys, just wondering if anyone takes or can recommend a brand of vitamin d supplement. I know my nurse said not to take vitamins and to try and get your vitamin intake from food, this is fine for all other vitamins other than vitamin d! I eat fish but not every day and I don’t like to eat eggs everyday as too much yolk is meant to be bad for you, the recommmended daily intake is 600ul a day? Does anyone else supplement this?

I get my vit D prescribed because of a deficiency.
Nothing wrong with egg yolks as far as I know.

D3 (likely fish based) supplements are best, unless you are vegan - then research D2 (plant based) supplements - also sunlight is a key source, but obviously not great in northern winters.
Sadly many of us have been very badly served by poor, now discredited advice, re eating eggs over the last 40 years...egg contents have basically no relationship to blood cholesterol levels...proud to say I have never succumbed to an egg white omelet - the yolk is the superfood.

@Choosehappy My levels are low and I take 5,000 iu of Country Life's vegan D3 daily. Vitamin D is on the slower side to increase your blood levels unlike a lot of other vitamins. It's actually a hormone. All those years I stayed working inside. Sunshine can be the best source! You just want to make sure it's D3 as they were thinking that is the most absorbable, although that is being disputed now. Usually it's from a fish source which is why I take a specialized vegan D3. It turns out 40% of Americans are considered too low. Americans eat lots of eggs and fish. It doesn't make much of a difference on diet, it's sunshine that plays the biggest part.

And type 1's seem to have a high prevalence of being short on vitamin D. Many believe there is a connection with low levels and Type 1.

But I would stay with a good health food brand. They still are pretty cheap. They are more likely to make sure it's a pure source and the dosage is right in it. When common cheaper brands were tested quite a few had a problem with the actual amount being in the pill.
