@Hopeful34 Congrats on the great A1c!!! That is really weird he reported abnormal on normal amounts, if it was just on the A1c I would say you got one of the "old school" GP's that think you shouldn't have more closer to normal A1c numbers. But a bunch of different ones? It sounds like they got you mixed up with someone else?

Someone has made a mistake I'm sure. I guess you might find out more when you have your next visit.

Our house for Halloween! Some stuff won't go out until tomorrow. There is a chance we might have a continuing rainstorm, or it might stop by mid afternoon. Our trick or treaters will come out in mild rain, but if it pours badly we will have a lot of candy leftover!

I had my wrist surgery yesterday. I'm a little tired but not doing too bad. They did a nerve block so I don't hurt at all...yet. As soon as I feel any pain I'm supposed to take a pill because that means the block is wearing off. That's anywhere from 1-5 days. From the elbow down I absolutely have no feeling or control. My arm just flops around. So I have a sling to keep it in, but when sleeping I'm supposed to have it propped in the air. So I had it propped against a pillow and by body. But it would fall sometimes, maybe I tried to move it? It's in a "soft" cast with a fiberglass splint and twice I bopped myself in the face in the middle of the night and this morning I bopped my dog really well. But I'm doing pretty good. The plate is out and the bony protrusion has been flattened! They think it was the bony protrusion that is supposed to be the most likely candidate, but I got the impression after surgery she wasn't so sure the problem was solved, in two weeks I'll know more. It'll probably be a wait and see. Not that I would voluntary have surgery to just have the plate taken out, but I'm kind of happy it's gone.

How strange @karen8967 I was only thinking about you, and everyone else who used to post regularly on this thread this morning, and wondering how everybody was? Hope you have a nice weekend too, and everyone else as well.

Not really diabetes related but the holiday with family to visit my cousin in South Korea is booked and paid for. I absolutely cannot wait to go, the countdown to August begins!

How exciting @Nicola M How long is it since you've seen your cousin?
In the grand scheme of things it isn’t overly long when I think of how long others are away from family but we grew up together 9 doors away from each other and similar ages. It’s been just over a year now since I’ve seen her and by the time I do get to see her in person again it will have been 2 years!

Things like to hit at once! About a week before surgery a tooth started minorly hurting and my BG had already started shooting up a few days earlier. So I knew infection and I already had a check up scheduled with my dentist the next day. He thought it was a root canal that needed redoing and sent me to the endodontist who fit me in before surgery on my wrist. 2 teeth, major infection around the one tooth and not saveable, that one needs to be pulled. He started doing the root canal. But on the other one no way was I going to have a tooth pulled 3 days before surgery, especially if I was going to have a tube down my throat!

Surgery went great, but my insulin usage was huge. I was put on antibiotics but that tooth needed to be pulled and they said the infection would still be there until it was pulled. 2 units about every 2-4 hours the night before surgery, and 2 units right before I checked in. I talked to the anesthesiologist and told him the circumstances and that I still needed more insulin as I was already climbing again. He asked how much would I usually give myself at 10mmol (180) and I said 1-2, but with the circumstances probably 3 units. I ended up getting 9 units in the 4 hours I was there. 2 days later I had the tooth pulled and I started to go back to normal. It is scary to just pump that much insulin into you when you never do that!!!!

Then I think because I was doing a lot of twisting with a wrist covered in plastic bags, I was basically using 1 arm to wash my hair and shower. My back decided to have a fit. I ended up getting a muscle spasm that got really bad within days. I worried it wasn't my back and saw my pcp and he said major muscle spasm, he can feel the muscles jumping all over the place. Hot and cold, tylenol or tylenol and codeine and get into phys therapy. But phys ther is a month away. So I went to my back doctor and they gave me a toradol shot and Lydocaine patches, besides using the pain killers I already had as needed and that if I didn't get better and I was still really hurting after 2 weeks they would try to go in with a xray/ultra sound guided shot and try to get the muscle to release. They said my muscles were going crazy. I have to assume it's linked to how messed up my back is. Luckily that shot worked great and after that day I haven't needed a pain pill and it's only minor hurting. I'm not even riding my exercise bike as I want it to completely rest and not get aggravated by anything!

Then I saw the wrist ortho and they took off the splint. Everything looks great and no restrictions except don't submerge it until the incisions are completely healed. I have two incisions, one on top of the wrist and one on the underside. And whatever I do, don't do anything that could make me fall as it's pretty stable, but I do have pin sized holes that need to fill in from the plate removal.

Of course another tooth started hurting and sent to the endo again as I guess my roots are problematic as they are really narrow. So now the endo is working on 2 teeth. After no tooth issues for 2-3 years and bam.......... It looks like this one can be saved, they weren't sure. I really didn't want another tooth pulled as it takes 3-6 months to get an implant and having gaps on both sides to try to chew on doesn't work well.

But things are settling and it looks like it's all fixable and my wrist is doing great, so it's all good, I think!
