Oh @Marie 2 what a terrible saga. A year ago you were posting lovely snorkelling posts. Awful how things take an about turn and then it’s one thing after another. I am sure when we are already laid low our body just capitulates.
You have my deepest sympathies re back. I too am suffering back problems at the moment. Both upper and lower. Presently sat with a hot water bottle between my shoulder blades. It is so infuriating! We just have to remain calm and carry on. I keep telling myself it will all pass and life will return to normal. Here’s hoping the new year brings a turnaround for you too.

@becca59 I am sorry you are having back issues too. I hope you and me get better and things go back to normal as soon as possible! First day I have woken up since the spasm started without it hurting. As the day goes on it's getting a little sore but I think the Toradol shot was the winner. Keeping my fingers crossed!

Thanks @becca59 and @Hopeful34 !!!! I'm so glad you are doing better @becca59 !!! The spasm went away with the Toradol shot. Which is so much appreciated!!! The teeth are mostly taken care of. My wrist seems to be doing great, I don't think it's completely solved. But it's basically fine. I always will have a back issue, it's not in great shape. The goal is always to try to limit how much it limits me! Right now it's still trying to heal from the last injury.

I agree @marie once you have had a back issue it is unfortunately with you for life. The problem is when it’s not causing issues you tend to forget all about it, do something you absolutely shouldn’t, and suffer the consequences for another few weeks.

Having a fight with my GP about getting more often B12 injections but other than that I’m well :hilarious: Never do make it easy do they! Hope all is well with you @chris85 type 1
i'm suffering with diabetes burnout i keep wanting to end it all but things are getting better 13 days 100% smoke free and alcohol free i'm trying to sort my life out, i hope your GP will listen to you it can be so annoying when they think they know more about you and your diabetes than we do when it's us who lives with it day and night 24/7 365 days a year.

Really sorry to hear about you struggles recently, I know how hard it is having been through terrible burnout and many many hospital admissions for DKA it’s never nice. 13 days smoke/alcohol free is amazing, I hope you’re proud of yourself for that, it takes a lot to even do 1 day let alone 13 and here’s to many more. If you ever need additional support or just somewhere to vent you’ll always have a place here! :)

i spent 2 days in a coma
I'm not posting much on this thread anymore but still reading.
Just wanting to let you know that I'm another one that's listening if that helps.

Vent away if you need to, let us know if there's anything we can do to help with the burnout, or ask questions if you have them. We're here to listen.

Do you have any support from your diabetes team with the burnout?

i have reached out to a support team but there's about a month waiting list so i might just cancel it god knows what i might end up doing i'm sick of this
Don't cancel. You can always cancel closer to the appointment if you feel it's useless, and it may be useful even in a month.

In the mean time, would you mind telling us a bit more on what parts of dealing with diabetes (or life in general for that matter) are currently so hard to deal with?
You never know, we might have some experiences that can help you, can't hurt to try us. ;)

everytime i get sick i end up in hospital and i hate being a burden
Hospitals are there exactly for people who need them when they are sick. Please don't feel guilty for needing them.

Have you tried to figure out why things go to pot every time you are sick? Talked this through with your diabetes nurse or endo? Who knows, it may be possible to avoid DKA if your insulin can be adjusted for illness in a way that suits your diabetes.

A while back you were very optimistic with your pump. How are things going when your not fighting an illness?

my sugars still go up and down but i'm back on pens for a little bit but i'm going to see my diabetes specialist nurse 1pm on thursday for the new medtronic simplera sensor.

they did not tell me two years ago that the guardian g4 needs replacing every year so about 8 months ago it stopped working but i didn't contact the nurse and didn't do finger pricks i get lazy with my diabetes

i was taking 20 units with every meal which was bad considering my insulin to carb ratio is 1 unit to 10g of carbs i'm trying to stick to hospital size portions so i can take less insulin

Sounds good!

When you see her/him on thursday, please also bring up your diabetes burnout.
Your diabetes specialist nurse likely has a lot of experience with patients who struggle with this, it's very common. They may well be able to give you some handles, and maybe even speed up help for you. Remember, they can't help you if you don't tell them what the problem is!

If you need 20 units for a meal and it works, there's nothing bad about it.
If it doesn't work, you and your diabetes nurse have to work out what your ratios are, they can vary a lot depending on time of day.
I'm not sure what 'hospital size portions' are, but if you take insulin to your ratio and those portions leave you hungry, you can always eat more fats and protein, even if you don't want to up the carbs.
