Type 1'stars R Us

Good morning all. Went to bed with a 5.6 and a downward trending arrow. So just a packet of crisps to ward off the downward arrow. Just woke to a 13.8 with an upward arrow. The joys of DP and type 1
Just imagine saying that to someone not au fait with diabetes: "just ate a packet of crisps to ward off the down arrow"!!!

Morning, drinking my first cuppa and later on going to watch the England and Belgian game for 3rd and 4 th place, no idea of what time it is on ? Woke up on a 5,0 so I'm pleased with that.
Happy Saturday Friends :)
Good morning ? Will the excitement of the match require a correction dose ?? or are you the cool, calm and collected character who can ace lie detector tests etc!!!

@Robinredbreast ...hope you are taking it easy and feeling a little better now.....planning a relaxing day myself after recent events whilst @Clivethedrive is working......am gradually getting used to referring to him as 'my husband' :)

Hi @karen8967, Just when you have found that almonds have zero carbs but could the fat in them slow down absorption of any carbs eaten around that time and thus change the balance of carbs vs insulin timing ?
Also I avoid almonds because they a chock-a-block full of omega -6s. I have walnuts instewad but the fat in them might still cause the same BSL problem,:)
no because it had been around 5/6 hours since id eaten my tea and had no iob.is omega 6s bad for you.also i love walnuts as well :)

My wife often refers to me as 'her better 1/3rd"

I have no idea then how almonds could do that except if they were replaced something else with carbs you might have otherwise eaten as supper. It seems that the ratio of omega 3 to omega 6 is a consideration (but not every pundit agrees) Omega 6 > omega 3 is more common in biscuits, grains etc and omega 3 > omega 6 is consumed less so (walnuts, fish, hemp etc). The 'ideal' ratio is said to be omega 3 : omega 6 of 1 : 2 to 1:<10. but see berkelywellness.com Balancing omega-6 and omega-3 fats. :)

Son popping round soon, so I will ask him to put the washing out, my teen is still in bed. Just writing out a shopping list for someone to do, running low on food items. Still not eating dinners, so no idea about what to do or advise to do for Sunday dinner, and that will be after the World cup final.

Morning, a mild hypo of 3,8 on waking but I was at 6 an hour back... Anyway a quick ground coffee then onto my 'oat bran' @ 9g carbs/100g less than normal porridge so I'll see what happens when I eat it :)

The young uns banished to her bedroom as she's practicing singing a song for her junior school leaving assembly and the "woah woah woah" bit's wearing on a hypo headache...

Hat tip to IPAG Scotland for posting links to the Scottish Health Technology Group's Advice Statement 009/18 on prescribing libre, published 13 July.

NHS Scotland is required to consider SHTG advice on matters, not necessarily to follow it or agree with it, but it's no secret that many areas in Scotland have been waiting for its report and it would be a huge surprise, and politically embarrasing for them if they didn't follow it.

It's a darned good report. It recommends giving libre to anyone on insulin who wants it. It mentions statistically significant improvements in glycaemic control, improvements in user's peace of mind, mentions cost effectiveness.

All in all, a very useful piece of paper to chuck at ccgs who are still swithering.

Morning everyone, woke with blood sugar somewhere in the 5s which will do just fine.

I was playing on twitter yesterday, and found the doctor who is leading the process of giving people freestyle libre, in my health area. He said 800 people have it now, and that he did a random sampling of 20 patients, to see what their pre freeestyle libre, and post freestyle libre hba1cs looked like. He said there was an median drop of 5mmol/mol.

That sounds like it is going to turn into a nice bit of data to support use of freestyle libre.

The tweet I referred to relates toEdinburgh and Lothians, so sounds like the actual data is looking good.

I don't think in mmol/mol for HbA1cs, but doing a few conversion mine is going to be a useful addition to the data, when I next go visit them at the hospital.
