Type 1'stars R Us

I've not been around the last few days, just been catching up on this thread. Just wanted to offer my condolences to @SueJB and wish @Robinredbreast well in her recovery. I've probably missed something but I hope everyone else is doing well otherwise.

I've completed DAFNE this week, got my first Libre on prescription, discovered my Blucon that I've been waiting to try is basically faulty (@Scott-C have you ever had an issue getting the battery door open?) and it seems some of my honeymoon has been tapering off as I've spent most of the week battling numbers down from the teens (literally correcting at every and in between meals) - as a result I've raised one of my split basal doses and all of my ratios have risen a bit, still not totally there but the Libre mountains are getting flatter bit by bit. I don't think I'd have had the confidence to be so aggressive raising doses without the Libre so it came at just the right time for me.

Evening all! Been building chests of drawers most of the day, finally finished all ten units. Just got to do tops and plinths tomorrow, and then I’ll have no excuse not to put my floordrobe away...

Sugars been ok today, I guess. I’ve been playing with all the data I’ve been collecting, and trying to work out how best to show this resistance in a graphic form. I can’t find much correlation with early morning temperatures, but the total daily doses of insulin show a distinct peak.

I’ve also worked out how much Novorapid I’ve been taking compared to carb intake to get each day’s ratio, and that graph is quite telling too: the blue arrows show days where I had less than 10g carbs, which seems to have skewed the ratios significantly. So I’m ignoring them. This was last month’s data, this month is developing the same pattern.

Think I’ll bore off to bed now... but I don’t think I’m imagining that there is a monthly problem here!
Just to let you know hypos often cause a drop in temperature.

Hi. Put a coin in the slot on the battery cover (a five cent piece in Australia) , turn anti clockwise. The trick then is to turn the blucon upside down and tap it gently and the cover and battery will fall out. This is what I do. I hope it works for you. There was an issue with the battery covers when the blucon was first released but this was fixed.

Sorry. I don’t know how to edit a post but this was in reply to db 89. Cheers Leeanne

Day not started great feel rough and hot (temperature and not Austin Powers Hot baby) no idea why numbers up at 12.9 not sure why.
Dumped insulin in going stuff my face in a minute the out for meeting with the people suppling the food for the wedding.

On side note I spent most of the night on Mercury saving the Universe which was rather successful:)

Mine is definitely knackered then. This is the result of gentle persuasion with two coins.

Thank you @db89

have you ever had an issue getting the battery door open?

Mines has been ok - I can open it with my thumb. The tight covers was mentioned as an issue on their facebook page a while ago - seems like they had a manufacturing problem with the dimensions. They were offering to replace too tight covers.

If you're ever able to get the cover off, they suggested removing the rubber sealing ring. Which kind of avoids the issue of how you remove the cover in the first place....

I'd maybe try drilling a small hole in the cover towards the outer edge so there's more leverage and using the drill bit to turn it, then get rid of the rubber ring.

I'll give it a go thanks. Can't make it much worse it's already useless in current state :wacky:

The cold sweats? Yeah, that’s hideous. But I’ve not had any hypos, according to Libre. But for the laydeez, your basal temp (you take it the second you wake up) goes up when you ovulate but about half to a whole degree, and falls again the day your period starts. I used to use it (with a couple of other observations that I won’t bore you with) to track my cycle when I was wanting to have a baby - and I could tell exactly when things were about to happen with my body. These patterns just don’t seem to be there any more, perhaps I’m getting pre-menopausal? I was hoping I could use it to track and predict the insulin resistance, because just a calendar method isn’t working, as while my cycle is quite consistent, the days the resistance starts and lasts just isn’t. Seems to be anywhere from 4-9 days. Infuriating!

Anyway... good morning. Got woken by husband at half three to tell me my high glucose alarm was going crazy, was at 10 so took 4u NovoSluggish and went back to sleep. I’d gone to bed at 6.2 :( Was 10.8 when I woke up again at eight, so another four units... down at 5.3 now. I’ve had double a regular day’s worth of insulin already despite a 10% increase in Tresiba. Not sure I dare up it any more as I’m expecting to go back to normal in a day or two.

Attaching plinths and tops to my three million chests of drawers today...

@db89 - that looks a bit mashed! I’ve read that drilling a small hole either side of the cover and using a couple of little metal prongs can help you twist it off.

Big cwtches to @Robinredbreast and @SueJB - thinking of you both xxx

Good morning y'all, I've had a rare sleep in whilst the little un trashed the living room :) 4/1 on waking and a bowl of oat bran and some Bratwurst waiting to be eaten, I think I'm going to have a lazy day as we've missed the car boot and the bairn doesn't want to swim again, a bicycle ride perhaps, the football finished last Wednesday so I'll not be watching that :p

Enjoy your Sunday!

Good afternoon. 7.8 bedtime and 7.8 on waking. Never had such stable BS, I know I am not eating foods I used to eat, but happy with results. Not a bad morning, managed some washing up and I watered my tomato plants by myself this morning for the first time in weeks ( other's have done that).
An odd thing happened that night. Went to bed after watching and dozing, to The Green Mile. Went to bathroom, then all of a sudden I felt incredibly sick, knelt down over loo bowl to be sick and I experienced 'dry heaving' ( googled it today) couldn't stop, but eventually it did and I felt better, 1st time I have ever experienced that !
Cup of tea time now and maybe a GF sandwich,
Happy Sunday to you all :)
