Evening.

Just one of those days plus been bit of on going battle of the bloods but so far not gone over or below set alarm levels so all in all not a bad day.

@Mel dCP yeah get you on the Micra can see they are good but would not want one. I'll stick to Alfas love them.

Yay! It's the weekend before half term.
I don't have children and I don't teach so it means a week of less cars on the road and few parents in the office.

I think I will celebrate with a trip to the gym as the lunchtime spin went so well. Resistance was up at an all time high and, at no point, did it feel so terrible that I felt I needed to check my BG. After my walk home, I was 4.2 so I suspect my optimum spinning BG is in the 4s which is a slight shame as 5s would give me a bit more of a hypo-cushion but I am still taking it as a win today.
Hypo-cushion ! Brilliant name. Imagine it on sale with pockets for glucose tablets etc and an extra alarm linked to CGM!!

Been having One Of Those Weeks, where those who don't have a clue how to suck eggs are trying to teach me how to. On a number of fronts. It never ends well, that.

I have an ominous feeling my pre-walk the long way home 14.8 may not actually have been that. as landing home on a 3.4 seemed a touch excessive. All well now, though, and the thought of 9 student free days is most welcome. The thought of the number of essential tasks and chores to be done is less welcome. In the meantime, the toasted hot buttered crumpets were a most welcome easy snack.
Nothing like the distraction of warm, buttery food !! No eggs involved !!

Battle of the Bloods, a new movie coming to you from Diab theatres !! Including car chase scenes through vineyards in Alfas!!

Husbeast has a petrol Micra. He loves it. I’m... less keen. Sort of “I don’t mind being driven in it, but I wouldn’t want one myself”. Oops. He’s taken the stereo out of the Focus, so at least I can use Spotify in the horror.

In other news, I’ve got a definite Friday teaching actual science every week until the end of the school year! They’ve been impressed with how I’ve been handling the more challenging pupils that they want to keep me at least one day a week. And it’s only 20 miles from home, so that's two hours less a day to be sitting in SmallHideousDiesel.

BG running steady at 4.7-5 once I’d sat on the foot on the floor spike this morning, so I’ll take that :)
Congrats, Pupil tamer and science teacher extraordinaire !! And you can maybe program in an insulin adjustment for each Friday. Treat the Micra as a pet, maybe it will grow on you. Better that than having to bolus each time you ride in it !!
And what pupil would not be mermerised by some de-identified, more graphic accounts of your nightly call-outs.
One way to teach science and make it memorable??

I think cars are very personal things.
Being slight of build, I feel weird driving large cars. I used to have an MR2 so anything felt large in comparison.
Sometime before then I had an A3. When it was taken into to the garage to be serviced, they were some delay. I jumped up and down and eventually got them to lend me a courtesy car for the weekend. Unfortunately, it was a VM Sharon. It was horrible to drive - and I only drove it from the garage to home and back again.

But a little personalisation and most cars can be tamed from the inside.
Unlike neighbours. The cigarette slinger is causing problems. Denying his activities (even though he has been witnessed) and having large arguments with his very proud and ill wife. I am pretty convinced he is suffering from dementia but my insurance doesn't cover dementia driven arson if he keep throwing lit cigarettes at my car.
It is a sad reflection of society that we are of course reluctant to report people behaving irresponsibility (in Oz throwing cigarettes around can start bushfires and people can be fined very heavily). And there is his wife to think about.
Can these matters be taken up with local council? And it sounds like as much as your neighbour may not like it, they both might need an assessment from an older person's unit regarding her needs and his condition. Do they have a gas stove which he might leave on and lead to disaster etc??

Good late morning from Adelaide. Beeeaauuutiful sunny skies, coolish temps and light breeze. Not a smoking chimney in sight.
Sorry, folks. You will no doubt be sending such messages to me in mid-year !!
BSL staying below 7 mmol/l and awaiting my HBA1C result on Monday and the Talk with my endo and DNE about The Low Carb Diet. Actually I am looking forward to it.
I know my DNE is not averse to the diet - she says a number of her patients are doing it. And she and I swop jokes, rib each other and I do not mind when she does tell me off - I really know that i have deserved it !!
I just need to convince my endo that I am not risking getting hypos. He is the most skilled and thoughtful doctor I have ever met, so am wishing to be as respectful as always. He is the one that challenged me to come up with some ways to make diabetes fun.
That IS a real challenge. But in a much-delayed lightbulb moment I thought about the partnership between doctor and patient in exploring a new 'treatment', where appropriate to do so. Such as embarking on a low carb diet journey together.
"Hey, X how long have we been travelling this road "? "3 months, doc. Would you pass me the low carb sandwich ? Ta, And please , help yourself."" Nurse has gone on ahead to scout out the way. I saved a sandwich for her too."
The fact that for some the change could be quite pleasing and thus gratifying for the doctor and nurse too is the sort of result that can make each persons' day.

You can get a fairly lengthy jail sentence from a non snowflake judge, for deliberately starting bush fires.

I would like the $#$#@#$ get jail time plus paying the cost of fighting the fires, I am sure the NSW Rural Fire Brigae will appreciate a ten day charter costing added for their Boeing 737 water bomber added to the sentence.

This picture was taken late last year north of Bundaberg where I am.

Yeah, the picture is superb but not the price tag !!
We had the big sky-crane helicopters, taking off and landing from a staging area close to where I lived in Canberra during the fires there in 2003. The smoke ruined curtains and house interiors, but that was nothing to compare to loss of property and the deaths. Vandals and fire starters are in a league of evil of their own.

We never seem to get the Sky Cranes up here in Queensland, I think they are only leased for the bush fire season in the southern states.

Flying with the 737 there were plethora of smaller water bombing planes and choppers flying out of Gladstone airport.

Bore da teabags, swapped the car insurance over last night - over an hour on hold to get through to speak to someone at Hastings Direct, and they were completely unapologetic when I finally did get to speak to someone. And then they charged me £25 admin fee to change the car :mad::mad: I’d have cancelled there and then and taken out a fresh policy with someone else but they would have charged £45 to cancel :banghead: Tried doing it online but it takes three working days... So I won’t be renewing with them, come September. Terrible customer service - Twitter was quite busy last night! Just done the tax online so we’re off to pick it up after more coffee. Only a month or so and it’ll be warm enough to dig my bike and leathers out :)

Wondering if looping would help with the foot on the floor thing...

Lovely photos @Cumberland !
@Knikki - love Alfas...

@Mel dCP dcp ooh car insurance is a pain. I changed my car a few months ago and like you they wanted £25 admin fee for changing or £50 for cancelling:arghh:

Luckily my new insurance company would cover the cost of up to £45, for the cancellation fee, so guess who I went with.

Talking of insurance just got my renewal quote through for my house insurance. I made no claims last year, nothing has changed, oooh except the price, its up 33%. Time for a Compare the Market visit

After my terrible overnight BG for last week and yesterdays ridiculous spikes, went to bed wondering what I would wake up to. Bed with a BG of 7.3, woke up several times during the night and tested, completly flat all nigh and woke up at 8.30 this morning BG 6.7

I am of course delighted BUT, why is it happening in first place. Still eating the same injecting in same general area at same times, eating same food. 38 years on I will never understand this type 1 nonesense

Hope you all have a good day fellow teabags
