Morning @smc4761 Change your insulin, check your sites - as you said your feeling fine, hope it gets resolved soon.

Frosty morning here and I've got my frosty face on. Guess why.

@smc4761 I agree with @Juicyj but it also sounds like it could be a basal problem?

@Mel dCP I know it's a first world problem but as someone who used to spend far too much time in my car getting to and from stressful work (no other travel option), it matters!

My afternoon BG are fine. I take levemir twice a day so i would say that my basal seems to be working. My evening BG after dinner are also OK and bloods have been dropping as i would expect, so I am thinking even the bolus Novorapid is OK

3 hours after taking taking my bolus, Novorapid, plus correction dose i have checked again and BG now at 17.1 :arghh::arghh::arghh::arghh::arghh:

Have taken another small correction dose and will just keep checking every 30 minutes

Good morning oh holey ones
Bloods behaving themselves again....went out with the misses last night and ate loads, guesstimate the carbs and got them pretty much spot on......didn't count the beer, which cost me a 10.8 in the evening. Well thats what I am blaming :)

@Mel dCP good sounds often distract from a car you don't like....I had many of those lol

@smc4761 a spike on a spike....hopefully will start to drop for you very soon. Hope you get to the bottom of why it happened

Commiserations @smc4761. I wonder if there’s been a storage or transportation problem with the insulin. I say this cos I, too, have had a few days of big spikes, and then a morning of no breakfast and hard work to get it down again. It’s ok by the end of the day when there’s a lake of Fiasp in the hinterland but it all groundhogs up again at night.
I’ve changed sites, put new cartridges of Levemir into the pen, taken in a follow up sample to check for continuing infection, eaten less (just 18g carb in the space of 22 hours yesterday, and I’m still correcting.
Going to open a new box of Levemir today from a different delivery and see if that fixes it. It’s a right PITA! I’m trying to work through a logical sequence of elimination steps but maybe I just need more insulin.
Maybe there’s another cause, but if the word resistance pops into my brain I do a mental backflip and start running.

HideousSmallDoesel has a tinny and terrible OE sound system. It’s a single CD and radio. Am insisting husbeast puts the stereo from the Focus in it, so I can use my phone with the aux in. That at least would make it bearable.

On a happier note good morning teabags
Last silversmithing course day yesterday and I came home proudly wearing a big statement fidget ring with three fidget bands and a big statement bracelet. I’ve loved doing it, I’ve learned so much, and plan to do the advanced course where I’ll be making stuff I design myself. It’ll have to wait til the knackety knee’s fixed though and I’ve absolutely no idea when that’ll be. I’m on the cancellation list as well as being on the next available space list with the surgeons who operate close to home so I’m hoping it’ll be before the summer.
In the meantime there are crocuses blooming and the sun’s shining so today’s cheerful.
Get some music going in the Micra Mel and a few purple splashes, and a bit of purple language, to make it yours?
You can always moan to us about the ones who don’t pull their weight Helen.

I know the pain. My stereo is a (good admittedly) bluetooth speaker which my car conveniently has a compartment to place in the dashboard. I asked my insurance at renewal about changing the factory radio which was a flat no as they don't cover any modifications. :(

But, having driven a much newer and frankly lifeless Golf diesel this week I was reminded why I've got and am happy with ol' smokey.

Ugh, fiesta sound system’s a basic necessity!

I have decided not to post any smug BG readings again, been cursed since this morning, went north and kept going till I got to 12.5, it's taken until now to get near 7.. dodgy cannula site is the only explanation I have, can't wait till home time :banghead:

It's ok by the end of the day when there’s a lake of Fiasp in the hinterland...

This made me smile, it's conjuring up images of David Attenborough pointing into the distance, whispering to camera, "....and, as evening approaches, wildebeest and gazelles roam gently by the lake of Fiasp in the hinterland..."

Afternoon latish on parade.

Had dentist appointment fist thing all OK which was nice.

As for follow up to last night Devil Food all 140g of it, did a split dose and woke up with a lying Etch Sketch saying 2.6 where as bloods were 3.1 so all in all not bad :)

Hi @porl69 well 7 hours after my first bolus and subsequent correction doses, back in land of normality. Now showing a 6.4 on finger test so happy with that. No idea what caused the ridiculous spikes, possibly injection sites, although i do vary them and change needles every injection. ( For years I would inject with my 8/10 mm needle for about a week before changing it)

There’s a part of me that doesn’t want to accept the poxy thing as mine in the slightest, so don’t even want to keep any of my stuff in there. Then there’s another part that wants to change it as much as possible with purple things. I really need to give my head a wobble and get over it. I never realised how important my car was to me before. But having given it a lot of thought, it’s a sanctuary, a cocoon, a place I can put my head in the right zone for whatever I’m travelling to. It’s the one space I rarely share with anyone. I suspect part of the reason I loathe older small cars so much is that they just feel so insubstantial. I don’t feel secure, either while driving or while parked. I do appreciate you all listening to me on this, so thank you.

Bg ok and steady today, one more lesson before home time. They’ve asked me to come in every Friday until July, which is nice :) Some secure hours will make quite a difference. Anything else is a bonus! Can put it towards a new car hahaha

Mel, we have several cars between us at home, from very smart indeed to a runaround, nicknamed the skateboard, bought for tip trips and the like.

I've come to adore that little car, and hardly ever drive anything else most of the time. It turns on a sixpence, goes like stink and hardly costs anything to fill up. Parking is an utter breeze.

You never know. I might grow on you.

That’s me! Sometimes a wildebeest, sometimes a gazelle, but usually a warthog - I love warthogs.

Husbeast has a petrol Micra. He loves it. I’m... less keen. Sort of “I don’t mind being driven in it, but I wouldn’t want one myself”. Oops. He’s taken the stereo out of the Focus, so at least I can use Spotify in the horror.

In other news, I’ve got a definite Friday teaching actual science every week until the end of the school year! They’ve been impressed with how I’ve been handling the more challenging pupils that they want to keep me at least one day a week. And it’s only 20 miles from home, so that's two hours less a day to be sitting in SmallHideousDiesel.

BG running steady at 4.7-5 once I’d sat on the foot on the floor spike this morning, so I’ll take that :)

Been having One Of Those Weeks, where those who don't have a clue how to suck eggs are trying to teach me how to. On a number of fronts. It never ends well, that.

I have an ominous feeling my pre-walk the long way home 14.8 may not actually have been that. as landing home on a 3.4 seemed a touch excessive. All well now, though, and the thought of 9 student free days is most welcome. The thought of the number of essential tasks and chores to be done is less welcome. In the meantime, the toasted hot buttered crumpets were a most welcome easy snack.

The like is for the Fridays and the steady BG.

I'm with you on the Micra - I've driven one intermittently over the last few years and do not like it one iota.
