Type 1'stars R Us

Hi Mei,

I have absolutely no idea what kind of work you & yer fella are after.

But have you both considered signing up for an agency till you find full time positions?
My bf has, he is in a process of being accepted into one. I have contacted a few agencies for work but no results.

Hi all, back from meeting himindoors cousin and her husband and what a great day, they’re a really interesting couple. And bloods more or less behaved, whoop!
Is that an electronmicroscope image of the skin where the sensor was @therower?
Welcome @Dabootie.
And @MeiChanski, I’ve tried to be decent to daughters’ boyfriends, even if I didn’t think they were right for them, and one of them made me really concerned! What a shame your financial situation seems to be causing rifts. It’s hard for parents too when they know they’ll have to set aside money for the time they’re no longer working.
Don’t be too disheartened by rejections for jobs, sometimes you just have to keep on trying. And yes, try actually signing up with an agency?
I’m the meantime, you enjoy cooking. Would your kitchen pass a hygiene inspection? Would cooking to sell in a market or catering for parties be an option?

Greeting fellow teabags.

Not been on for a few days and I miss all the drama. Spiders is that why. Have we lost any regular posters?

Would I give up being type 1, darn tooting I would. Been type 1 for 38 years and sure it has changed my life and made me the person I am. But the annoyance of being unable to be spontaneous to eat and drink what I want and the constant fear of going low when I go for my wild walks, means I would give it up in a minute

Evening friends,
I have found the cause of my sadness, monthly visitor is here to stay with me for the week. I wanted to say I love my bf very much but his parents are quite the opposite of favourite parents. I wanted to know or ask since some are parents here: Do you force yourself to like your son's or daughter's bf or gf? I feel very unloved by my bf's parents and it does hurt to swallow. More over, it is also because I'm not a christian. My bf was on the phone to his parents about his updates on his job hunt and he needed some more money for his car insurance etc, otherwise he won't be able to drive it and for some food. His dad said "I feel like I'm paying for the both of you". I'm sorry to be such a financial burden too y'know, I've been looking for work as well and it's not like we both chose to be unemployed.
I did discuss this with my bf and said should I go home? He said he doesn't want me to go home because it doesn't make much difference.
Oh MeiChanski you're having such a tough time at the moment. Having my in-laws to stay has always been stressful. But they have mellowed overtime. Particularly after my diagnosis.

@smc4761 a few friends have temporary bans as a result of Spidergate.
They can read but not post.
Hopefully, they will return to the T1 Stars fold when they can.

Must be a big naughty step. Hopefully they will be back soon. I love the banter on this thread and the fact that we dont just talk about type 1. We do all have lives outwith being a person with diabetes. Ooooh and the type 1 knowledge on here is fantastic

Apparently it’s the hole from a needle/ syringe injection in skin. An electron microscope is needed to obtain the image.
Thanks, cool..

I've seen a fair few "hollow earth theory" satellite shots of the polar ice caps in my time.. I was kind of hoping it wasn't heading in that direction. :)

Hello all, been lurking for a while since I found this thread shortly after being diagnosed in May. Admitted to hospital on return from a holiday with what turned out to be DKA and an hba1c of 122. Left hospital after 9 days with a T1 diagnosis and armed with Lantus and Novorapid. Had first proper review last week and have got hba1c down to 45 (in part down to you guys here as reading this thread has made me feel like I’m not alone being diagnosed at 49)
Welcome Dabootie. You had a scary finish to your holiday.

Hello @KesLouise and @Dabootie . Welcome to the thread!

I treated my new colleagues to a full rundown of the contents of the bag known as "Japes' meds bag", the pre-food regime, and made those who'd done the Diabetes and Insulin training yesterday practise counting the carbs in my lunch, calculating the dose and preparing my pen ready for me to inject! No, I didn't let them actually inject me - though I will let them practise testing my bloods if they want to before they actually have to do it on a student in the near future.

They're already aware that bag needs to be around at all times and that it's likely the students will also keep an eye on it as well as any of their own meds bags!!

I wear a bag at work at all times now....contains meds, fast and slow acting carbs and test kit.
Had to do major evac at work last Friday, pleased only had a minor hypo and no repercussions from senior management since.
