I hope to use makaton at some point, as it will depend on the child's SEN. Whilst the speech and language therapist talked an escort put his hand up and did the 'toilet sign' and we all smiled and chuckled as the teacher allowed him to go :)
I will have to look up bloods and injection :)
ps I can now sign my name with finger spelling signs :)

To become a certified diabetes educator (CDE), applicants must first earn advanced degrees in medical fields such as nursing, occupational therapy, pharmacology, podiatry, nutrition or social work The NCBDE also requires applicants to work specifically with diabetes patients for a minimum of two years.

@Antje77 hope the pain subsides soon, if it continues suggest you go back to the doc and ask for a Non-Steroid Anti-Inflammatory Drug - Naproxen (sp?) for example.

Morning friends,

A bit of a hypo this morning, great start to do an 8 hour training session. Bf had the audacity to ask me why I’m moody, I guess he can’t relate because he doesn’t bleed on a monthly basis.

If you are interested in working within the field of Endocrinology and Diabetes, you could contact somewhere like Leicester Diabetes Centre, or the Leicester University where they have a Centre of Excellence and strong educational portfolios, respectively.

I'm sure other Diabetes Centres or Universities have similar curricula.
 
Morning all
It's grey but I'm happy, I am 5
Off to have my flu jab and then to buy some fat balls and to take my laptops in to have the screens changed. I've got one that works well but has a rubbish screen and the other's the opposite and keeps crashing. It's already frozen once this morning.
Man came about the loft conversion, eyes water
 
Morning chaps, got a study day today and a gig tonight. Had a bit of a lie in, as I was pretty knackered after yesterday - a full day in uni doing child and infant basic life support and patient surveys, and then straight to the local ambulance station for an evening of community first responder training... All good stuff. Bloods could be better but they could be a whole lot worse, so I’ll take that.
 
@helensaramay here in Leeds our physios are attached to GPs. The receptionist gives you the appointment there and then. Unfortunately the physio at ours was going on holiday for 3 weeks. And I now have to wait for X-ray results before decisions are made on what I require. But it is certainly a better system. Cuts out paperwork and not knowing when appointment will arrive. I had no idea they had moved over to this method til last week.

Can anyone (or everyone lol) tell me what they use to keep their gadgets attached to them for the required length of time please?

My very first Libre came off after just 6 days, in all honesty this was partly my fault as I did knock it once. But even before the knock I could see it had lost it's sticking power on one side.
Now my 2nd sensor is at risk of coming away. For the past 3 days I have had a huge adhesive plaster covering it so it doesn't come off.
I've still got 7 days with this sensor & I was hoping there wold be some amazing answers/tips/products to assist me in securing it better going forward. :D

My struggle is finding a part of my upper arm which is flat enough for the sensor. If I fail, the sensor peels away from the adhesive bit so I am still attached but the sensor is not. I find my arm is flatter under my arm rather than at the back. I still have to be careful, especially at the gym when I am doing weights and flexing my muscles.
If I see the sensor starting to peel, I used to use Micropore (because I had some in the cupboard) which I wrapped around my arm. Recently, I have purchased some VetWrap which is good because it sticks to itself and is reusable. I even washed it recently. And it is inexpensive from eBay.

I know others use Tegaderm and Rock Tape.

This morning I ordered a handful of Libre Patches from a website called Diabetes supplies. So I'll be giving them a go also.

Hopefully I can find something that works for me :D
 
It's amazing how one organisation can differ so much, I had to wait 6 months to see the physio after my GP referred me to them.

so no one eats couscous then? I had it last night with Moroccan lamb and as it transpires I lucked into bolus timing for it and guessing the correct amount of carbs :happy: BGs have been good but I'm probably about to undo all the good work, tub of Heroes has been deposited in the office - I am trying really hard............:hilarious:

I like Hypafix film. (I think it's the same as Tegaderm) I use a roll of 10mX10cm and cut 10X10 squares. Sometimes it keeps the whole 2 weeks and I only have to trim the edges, sometimes it needs a new one halfway through. If so, I don't bother with peeling off the old one, I just trim the edges and put the new over the old.
