I am getting confused. My partner's bloods were high after Christmas and, after reading the forum, we started on a LCHF diet. I tried him with the 5:2 diet at the same time, but he finds it difficult to not pick in the evenings. We lost weight on the 5:2, but haven't lost any more since stopping it, though haven't actually put any on. I have been so careful with the carbs ...... no potatoes or starchy veg, no bread, no rice, nothing made from flour. We do have porridge made with water sometimes and we do have lentil soup sometimes. Other than that it has been meat/fish with cruciferous veg or salad for dinner, eggs of some description for breakfast, snacks of nuts, tins of fish, cheese, hummus and the occasional piece of fruit (not banana or melon). His bloods did come down to 5 -7, but have been higher lately, 8- 9. I have been watching some very interesting videos by Dr Jason Fung via a link a forum friend sent me. Very interesting. Watched one today though and he was saying how dairy produce like cheese and butter can push the insulin resistance up. And meat and fish. Yet this is what we've been eating instead of the carbohydrates. Also, he said to eat unrefined carbohydrate as this can slow down the insulin resistance. We were previously eating Burgen Soya and Linseed bread anyway, and wholemeal pasta and brown basmati rice. I cut them all out when we started the LCHF diet. He also said to eat fruit, yet other doctors (e.g. Dr Eric Berg) say to treat fruit like sweets except they are healthy. I am getting so confused with it all, it's doing my head in. My partner has had a heart bypass and a kidney transplant and I need to get this right so he stays healthy. Help please!
