Type 2 Life

@TooManyCrisps my view having done other courses, I would now always choose the go have a day at the beach option.

Whatever the course is it will be aimed at the most basic level, delivered by nice enough people with good intentions, but I doubt there won't be anything too enlightening said, as they'll be pitching it that everyone knows nothing, typically half the attending will have some knowledge and others will no Jack about the condition, those presenting the course will have a script planned out and won't like deviating from the message.

@mo53 - That is brilliant news, did you go to Whitby and find that shop to buy them? That's one each day for a week or half a day and will last a fortnight.:)

@liam1955 my partner took me to Driffield Lidl. I thought I might freeze some. Half a day is probably enough. I'm going to have one half toasted this evening for supper with marmite. :)

@mo53 - That sounds like a good idea and I understand they are just as nice when defrosted. Will be interesting to see what your fasting will be in the morning, if you eat the half roll for supper.:)

@mo53 - - Was 'stressed' last night and I turned to eating Chocolate AND Vanilla Fudge too. (comfort eating) Then had my usual Crackerwheat and Cheese at 11.30pm and my blood sugar was 15.5 before bed at 1.30am, so I drank 2 big glasses of water. Fasting this morning was up at 6.7 and have been good all day, till 30 minutes ago and ate a toasted waffle with Maple Syrup and Greek Yoghurt! I start off good but a certain person twists my arm and my willpower is out the window. I will test at 9pm'ish and see how much it has raised my sugar? :). Masterchef on in 5 mins.

Hi all , now this is how I feel about the course. Firstly as Rons wife and carer you don't really get involved in this course , so I felt as if I was in the way. So hence boredom set in. I felt like I was back in the school classroom , To begin with they went on about how diabetes affects your organs and about the food you eat . Then about the complications of being a diabetic . Your medications and that all T2s should be on statins. How fats are bad for you and the need to reduce them . They covered nerve damage and your eyes . Quite frankly all you need to know you can get off this site . They said unless like Ron who takes gliclazide you do not need to test so no need to go and buy a meter . You should only then have tests done at your GPs . I for one wouldn't recommend going complete waste of time
Sounds exactly like the X-pert course I went on, the last day they bought us all a cake covered in this icing sugar!!!!!!

For anyone out there that is like me occasionaly lazy, sainsburys now do spiral courgette, spiral butternut squash and cauliflower rice £1-20p, can make quick healthy meal or snack or use with salad, I stick the cauliflower in my yoghurt with carlic, cucumber & Spring
Onions, very filling. Good evening to you all, Bet your all looking forward to your next Desmond meeting!

hi all just got back from DESMOND coarse and were to I start
first got my results from my last bloods Hba1c 138 cholesterol 8.5:eek:
secondly would I recommend the coarse to a newby yes I would but I wouldn't to any members on here as I have learned more from this site than I did going today
they are now in favour of low carbing but are now all low fat low fat low fat all fat is bad and push this through out the coarse
thirdly i was the only one testing bloods there and there was only one other on metformin the rest were only border line type 2 on diet control only and it seemed at times the instructors were basically saying look this is what will happen to you (revering to me) if you don't control your diabetes . don't get me wrong they were all lovely people but not nice being used as a scare tactic for others
thanks all
ron
That's appalling @eldergarth. The course leaders should never refer to someone on the course as a bad example, that is completely unhelpful and unprofessional.
I'm so sorry that it was so poorly organised and delivered. It sounds as though it was a waste of your time. I'm now having serious doubts about the one I'm booked on to.

I've just got home from a lovely evening out with a friend, went for a pub meal where there was very little on the menu suitable for a LCHF dieter such as myself, but I did my best. Have just tested 2 hours after eating and it's 6.6 which I am really pleased with. Eating out is always a bit of an unknown.

Hope everyone has a good night's sleep.

Hope everyone has had a good day today. My fingers are a little sensative from testing but really pleasd with my results today.
Fasting 4.5
After brekkie 6.6
Before lunch 4.8
After lunch. 6.3
Before evening meal 4.7
After evening meal 6.3
This is the lowest I have been in 2 weeks since I began testing, as I started off 15/16. Thank you everyone who had given me advice and thank you to my doctor for prescribing me strips, starting testing and coming on this site is the best thing that I have ever done xx

@jkc2011 - Brilliant results and everyone within range too - Well Done:)
Thank you I'm so pleasd, just need to keep it up now and not fall back into old habits. Had a late snack, well late for me at around 10:00pm so we shall see what it does to my bloods in the morning , but they were low carb Ryvita crackers with butter and only has 2. Thank you for the advice you have given me over the past 2 weeks xx

@jkc2011 - The good work is all down to you and I am quite sure you will continue doing what you are doing.:). Just remember don't be afraid to ask questions if you have any doubts.
