Type 2 Life

Co-codamol is also excellent for causing constipation.

It's as if I've never been away from work, I am well ready for a lazy-ish weekend! Lovely to catch up with the returning students, though, as well as getting to know the new ones.. We do need this time with the new students first, then add the returners, then get onto timetable properly next week. My "Can Japes have a couple of chips on Friday?" student was demanding to see my meter reading before lunch before offering me a chip. Just over my self imposed limit of 6.0 today! The refusal was made with much glee and giggling.

Hi all past couple weeks my bgs have been high 6's or 7+ In mornings when I get up, Don't know why or what to do any ideas anyone? What's causing it & why thanks

Well, it's not as if you're new to all this and don't know what you're doing, and I'm sure you've tried all the usual things, so it sounds to me as if a visit to your DN might be in order. If it's been going on for a couple of weeks something must be causing it, so it might be a good idea to get a professional opinion, do you think?
Big hugs xx

Hi debrasue. I agree that's why I'm confused, not changed diet really, I've cut out cheese but past few months started eating more eggs, bacon, very little pork steaks agsin , &. Cream & Greek yoghurt instead of low fat, but every few months my bgs start playing up again in morning, (sorry lads) I've been having terrible hot flushes past few months around same time last year had same problem, but flushes finished years ago till I was put on meds! Spoke to nurse & doctor about it before, one said stop one of my meds & no more strips as a result of doing so, nurse said increase meds!!! High morning bgs isn't good, I've checked my averages for this month with my metre & it says 6.4% which is 39 I think whoch is down from 41 which I was at last hbc1a, I know only blood test can give true result but metre does show lower than befor so how come high morning Bgs ? Could it be carbs? I've got appiontment for 4th October for a blood test, been asking for months to see someone. Thanks sgain, hope your well, & everyone on forum

@debrasue sorry just noticed I made mistake mesnt to type 5.6/5.7% not 6,1. Which is 39, so it's down from 5.9% = 41 which I was before, just have to wait & see after blood test, sure cholestrol has gone up as I eat more fat now, anyway thanks again hopeful it will get sorted soon, I'll try to talk to dn thanks

Maureen - When did you last change to a new pot of strips? Sometimes a pot can read a bit lower or higher than usual. I know you only talk about your fasting levels going up, but sometimes other readings vary a bit more anyway, so may not be suspected?

It's just a thought I always try to keep in mind if something like that happens to me.

Finally I have some good news about my kitchen woo hoo! One of the engineers who came out a couple of days ago has been popping in to check my progress and he's been getting more and more disgusted with how I've been treated. He knocked the door earlier to say my neighbour called him out for the same problem so after much toing and froing between our houses him and his colleagues worked out what the problem was. They've used a wet vac to suck up the water for now and they're coming back tomorrow to sort the problem for good. Phew! I can now go into my kitchen without having to wear welly boots :)

@Andbreath. Thanks for reply. I started new strips couple days ago, but I did test one day in evening on 2 different machines on read 6.6 & other 5.8. Day time testing is pretty much same in the 5's & 6's depending on how active Ive been, must admit since Ive indroduced more fat into my diet i feel much better, eat less low fat products, not lost weight but stayed steady weight & feel less stressed, more relaxed Thanks again

Hurrah! Yaaay! That's great news Barbara

Can strips be faulty? Mine are well within date

It's not usually that they are faulty it's just they can vary a bit sometimes, especially if they have been stored in a very cold, or a very hot place. Like anything made in batches, there can be variations, even when very much in date. When did you last start a new tub?

I'm not telling you that's the answer, just trying to help with further reasons your numbers could seem different.

Started new tub couple days ago, didn't realise temperature may effect strips. Thanks

Do you have any others, bought at a different time, from another batch? I have to say I don't always, but if you do, it could be worth opening a tub from the other batch and trying that for a couple of days, side-by-side with what you're using now.

If you an, it would just rule that out or in the mix.

Good idea. Thanks very much will try

Morning, grey outside. Had brekkie and did insulin, FBG 6.9 mmol/l. :)

@eddie1968 I was 6.9 this morning too.
I skipped my insulin before bed because ive added weight on 60-60. Starting again on r-ala today as I ran out.
I'd love no insulin. Exercise is supposed to reduce insulin need for us IR diabetics. Do you see a less need for insulin after exercise?

Good Morning, my friends on the www.diabetes.co.uk Type 2 Life Forum,

I woke up this morning and watched a Creaation Scientist on Revelation Christian Television talking about the age of the Earth from a Biblical perspective and a tiny amount of Postman Pat on C-Beebies.

I took my Lixisenatide Glucagon-Like Peptide Injection, Carbamazepine, Metformin Hydrochloride, Ramipril, Bendroflumathiazide, Amlodipine and Tamsulosin Hydrochloride and enjoyed 2 mugs of coffee with Sainsbury's Rich Roast instant coffee granules, 2 5 ml spoons of granulated sugar and a splash os Semi-Skimmed milk in each.

My blood glucose reading at 9am as I left to walk to the Tate South Lambeth Public Library to use the Internet was 7.3 Millimoles Per Litre.

I won't be able to log on successfully tomorrow (Sunday 11th September, 2016) because my local public library resource is closed.

Have a lovely Saturday 10th September, 2016. It's relatively overcast and threatening light rain showers in South London and the sky looks like there may be a rainfall impending but it might be okay.

Love from,

Johnny Baker (@autisticwonder1970)

Hello @autisticwonder1970 you really are a wonder today friend! You have good BG levels and you have finally got your Sky broadband package sorted out - hurrah!!! I hope that you are having a great weekend Johnny you deserve it! It will be good to hear from you every day again and it will be much easier for you to post on the forum from the comfort of your flat. Stay strong !!

Sorry to leap back in unannounced. I've been blocked all week on my phone app and feel bad about being out of touch with everyone. I've had a week in tbe Algarve, which started at a toasty 39 degrees. It's now cooled at night but daytime temps are mid 80's in old money. I'm using a tablet to send which seems more successful - or @Giverny has worked a miracle and fixed the problem.
I'll chime in again with some good news. TTFN.xx
