Type 2 Life

Sorry Vicky but you can't be that good a palm reader if that is what you see what it really shows is the changes ahead are going to be better and a start of a new better life for you and all your kin .
It could be. As the life line in question has no crosses through it which symbolizes upset and strife. My first line change is very faint so unless a life change it could leave me having a considerable shorter life span. The second is another change in direction but strong and strife free. (Maybe money would make me more comfortable and nutured.) A pension cashed in say? I'm not 100% sure as artifical light not as good at picking up all the lines surrounding and at the same time scale. I'll have another look tomorrow. Only trouble reading own palm is you wish things there so never accurate.

Good Evening, my good friends on the www.diabetes.co.uk type 2 life forum,

i am updating you after a long time without this impeccably supportive forum oweing to technical difficulties.

my wifi is now back in my one-bedroomed council flat and came back on last saturday.

i also have some interesting news to impart. it was observed from a recent i.v. blood test at my g.p. that i now have vitamin d deficiency to add to my list of conditions and i'm now on a course of capsules called colcaciferol.

i haven't had much to eat today apart from 4 pieces of jerk pork which i seasoned myself and roasted in a moderate temperature oven on 150 degrees centigrade. my blood sugar this morning initially was 9.6 mmol and then lowered at 9:30 ante meridian to 5.2 mmol.

hope you're all okay and well.

love johnny baker.

Hi everyone, hope your all well, anyone take metforminn SR? Saw DN today she said not to let my hbc1a go any lower apparently I've been in normal range past 3 hbc1a tests, but still classed as diabetic cos use meds, I asked to try SR version, she gave me, leaflet says usually start on one per day but she said take 2 a day, but she told me to stop taking my gliclazide at night but to take in morning to see how my morning bgs are, hope SR version suites me if not will ask to return to what she called the 'bog standard' version. Hope everyone's well, don't know if it works yet but asked for blocking on my landline.

Hi Johnny - it's good to hear from you and I'm very glad that you have got your WiFi back - that's going to make life easier for you! I hope the tablets work quickly for your vitamin D deficiency. Hugs x

Hi all thanks for your support have just got back and as from Friday I will be officially be signed of work on ill health so now in the hands of the DWP
I'm waiting for my application form for PIPS but guess will be a trip into town to benefits office
This is good news, Ron. Now you can concentrate on your health. Big hugs xx

My regular gp refused me a scan on my pelvis. My dn won't be happy. Me neither. I will call my dn today for advice but seeing practice nurse for a health check next tuesday so I'll be interested to see what she says. Maybe she can plug my gp for me.
I wonder why no scan?
Given more painkillers.
His answer was "you are 10yrs older now" when I asked about why im struggling with my ability now when never had a problem before this past year?
I said "mum has spondolotis so I guess this is what im to expect?" He said "yes".
Also thyroid is to be checked in 6wks time to check if overactive so he can assess how much to reduce since id only had reduced thyroxine for 4 weeks then increased when I had terribly thoughts. So sleep interfered with again. I cannot sleep well on 200mg and last time had palpatations. Great.
I had proposed a 50mg thyroxine tablet instead to resilve but gp wants blood test first in 6wks time on high symptoms. Bgs were higher then too. Humf!
So more painkillers for my liver to process after a dodgy liver last year too.
I'm screaming the answer but hit a brick wall. :(
I'm so sorry to hear this Vicky and I hope it does indeed get resolved for you soon. Your GP sounds about as useful as mine! Big hugs xxx

Welcome back Johnny, it's good to hear from you again. I hope the tablets help your vitamin D deficiency soon, your BG could be higher because you're unwell

Hello @maureen5752 - I believe the SR Metformin lasts longer than the bog standard Metformin in the body? And It will take a couple of days before you should notice any difference, so don't get yourself 'stressed' as your blood sugar will go up! As I don't take the SR version I don't know a great deal about it. But, I am sure someone who is taking it will hopefully come along and give you some advice. :)

Thanks Debs sorry for late reply seems notifications not working on the Android app .
Getting a few small jobs around the house today and me and Tina have decided it's about time we had a sort out and do some car boots and few trips to the charity shops .

Hello @maureen5752 - I have heard that most people are more suited to the SR Metformin. That would seem a good idea to take it for longer and then at least you can tell the DN/GP you have tried it.
To avoid stomach upsets, never take Metformin on an empty stomach, I always take mine with a few spoonfuls of plain Greek Yoghurt followed by a glass of water.
Yes, Thank You Maureen we are both well. :)

@maureen5752 have you seen this thread....?

http://www.diabetes.co.uk/forum/threads/metformin-sr-diagemet-xl-500-mg.76240/

Hope it helps.

Maybe ask a question in there and those taking sr will be able to respond.

I take the xl version after food but immediately after, as I put my dishes/ plate in the sink.
Mine has taken weeks to kick in, but worth it. No side affects which are unwanted.
Periods more regular and feel less heavy/solid in the mid drift.

Too many painkillers = constipation. Very uncomfortable in my stomach now. Uncomfortable front and back of my mid section now.
I think I expect too much?????

I want my carefree painfree body back. Pre lchf it seems.
Solve one problem and end up with another. It seems.

It's interesting that you say you were pain-free prior to LCHF. Do you think there's a connection? I only ask because I have definitely experienced more pain since going LCHF, although I couldn't imagine why that would be, so I just put it down to the ageing process.

I take the SR variant, but I have never been on the 'bog standard' From what I can tell the SR has a coating that disolves more slowly. Initially I was on 1000g once a day, and now I'm on 500mg once a day. I usually take it in the evening just after dinner. Yes it played havoc with my tummy in the beginning, and sometimes it still does - no warning!! - I have no idea what impact it had on my BG's as I had already arrived here and following a reduced carb way WOL.
My HbA1C is such that I could probably stop altogether, but am reluctant to do so

Maybe wheat protects the nerves system, I don't know. On 30g carbs I get twitchy, faint and easily upset ....and heart palpatations. So I had to increase my carbs to 100g and was given a beta blocker. I reduced my thyroxine as blood test showed overactive thyroid so thought the continuing reduced palpatations were due to levothyroxine being too strong on 30g low carb. Throughout I didn't lose weight. I changed shape and lower bgs for me. My weight loss was due to high sugars but once they settled down with 30g carb and insulin I regained that loss.
I feel changing shape and weight loss then gain has caused my scatica nerve to get compressed and inflammation to be triggered. My sisters and mum had arthritis at 30yr old. I guess I'd been saved, til now. I guess I should be thankful I didn't suffer sooner.
