Type 2 Life

5.2 am
seem to be settling down into the low 5's, likely because I'm now testing at the same time every morning.
Making some mushroom soup for lunch today and tomorrow. Late night work night tonight, so some haddock for dinner I'm hoping.

Checked the price difference between Tesco and Lidl yesterday of ground almonds
Tesco 200g £2.29
Lidl 180g £1.39

not sure if I can tell the difference..... bake on. :)

Thanks for asking Lizanne, bit better, 4.9 mmol/l. I have gastroparesis and this can cause delayed stomach digestion and can drop and raise my BGs erratically. I have the doctors this morning and need more Metoclopramide tablets which sort it out. :)

Meticlopramide are great they really help me when tummy is bad

I'm in a good mood this morning - 6.9 fbg and I'm planning a trip to Edinburgh with DS in March. There's a knitting show at the Corn Exchange so rather than leave my son at home we're going to turn it into a mini break :) Even though my son is 22 he has Aspergers syndrome and struggles with his independence. He also has depression and anxiety so I wouldn't feel comfortable leaving him overnight

Hope you all have a wonderful time, we lived in Edinburgh for some years and it's such a beautiful city, our youngest son who has Autism was born there he's at the other end of the spectrum from your lad (non verbal etc) but I understand the difficulties of your day to day life. I hope you all enjoy the break x

Thanks, this will be the third time we've been there -my cousins live in Alloa and we've gone over there for a couple of day trips while we were visiting them. It's such an amazing city and we can't wait to go back! I'm sure you will understand how much organising I will have to do before we go, I'm a single mum and my boy can have panic attacks if he's under too much pressure. Calming him down is easier said than done, he's 6 ft 3 and 16 stone!

Yes, mine is 6ft as well! If you tell us when you're going I'll keep you in my prayers x. P.s one of our sons also lives in Alloa

Lol! I don't know if it's just me but ASD lads tend to be taller than average :) We're going up on Friday 18th March, and are only staying for one night. DS still has difficulty sleeping in strange beds so we never go away for more than a couple of days. I'm still amazed that he's so enthusiastic, usually we go up during the summer holidays and stay at Dunmar House in Alloa, so this is a serious change in routine! I think I'm going to need all the prayers I can get :)

That's good that he's keen, good luck

You are right ASD lads are taller than average, mine is 16 and he's nearing 6 ft as well.
Goodness, I wonder how many of us "autistic mums + dads" are on the forum, I know that my GP thought my diabetes was triggered by the cortisol (stress) hormone after 18 yrs of sleepless nights and 24hr/365days caring. It's nice to know that we're all still standing :)

I think its.more common than you think. I have a daughter and a son on the spectrum and my grand daughter as well, bless the little angel who has clung to me like a magnet for the last 3 nights, all I can say is thank goodness she goes to her great grandparents in the weekend, theoretically I should get 2 nights sleep, woo hoo :)

I think your Dr is on the right track with the stress thing though, you love your kids so much but boy can it be a challenge.

Yes, you are right @4ratbags it is very common and becoming more so I believe. If that's your granddaughter as your avatar? she's absolutely gorgeous. Enjoy your two undisturbed nights :)

Agree x 1000! I was diagnosed Type 2 in October after an awful year. DS had a major depressive episode in April and came close to leaving college, my mum was hospitalised first in June with septicaemia and contracted MRSA while she was in there, and again in August with gallstones! My younger brother is her carer and he also has Aspergers. You can imagine the effect it had on all of us

@Diamum5972 good work on the planing, wish you luck with the trip.
and @4ratbags @13lizanne challenge is really the right word. Our son goes to college on Thursday, on Mondays he goes to a local charity for the day 10:00 to 16:00 and sometimes gets a place on a Friday. Tues and Wed my wife and I split shifts, she work 07:30 to 13:00 and I work from 13:00 to 22:00 and tend to burn up holidays to take a half day every now and again. My work are really supportive. My wife works for DWP and they are less so...
Our son is a big unit and sometimes just loses it completely and it's not a good experience.. it is pretty rare though, fingers crossed.
and I won't start on Social Work in NEFife.... whinge over.
Wish all well,
