Type 2 Life

Hi folks. After my diabetic eye screen this morning, I continue to have sore eyes. They're sensitive to light & are rather uncomfortable. Can anyone offer some advice from their own experience? Thank you.
Hi Alisonjane I usually have blurry eyes for about 4-5 hours after having my scan. I occasionally suffer from Uveitis which is inflammation of the iris and have to have these drops daily - I liken it to looking through a puddle!! Hope your eyes soon clear.

Hi @Baruney. I'm not sure if my snacks of choice would be suitable for you. But they might be at some stage. Check out the following: http://www.biltongcompany.co.uk/?gclid=CP6FiIeUl8cCFSTItAodQV8Bjw I used it on a 10 mile hike in the Lakes & it perked me up no end. Lots of choice from this company too. I tried a couple of different 100g bag flavours until I found my favourite kind. Top quality stuff. X

Always liked George Michael. X
Thanks aj hope you're well. Lovely looking selection and love biltong. Am aok for protein though - have a tried and tested staple of salami sticks, anchovies, pork scrathings, nuts an seeds as peanut butter in freezer bags. What I am looking for is transportable fat. Ie in a hot sweaty day sack for 22 hours. Furthest thought so far is freezing cream cheese. Any ideas however bizarre consider and would be chuffed to smithereens and all that nomesense.

Good heavens above - that's almost 5 whole days! I still see some people saying red wine has a good effect on their BGs but I didn't really see much difference. As I'll be in Spain next week I might see if the Spanish reds work better.
Spanish reds rock.... I'm going through an oak phase and they do oak at the mo.... and the whites are not far behind.... enjoy.

A few idea @Baruney. Don't know if I'm off track, but here goes.
  • Ripe whole Avocado
  • Celery with Pate in the middle topped with whole Almonds
  • Tube of Primula Cheese: I like the one with prawns (it can be squirted from the tube straight into your mouth)
  • Vanilla Coconut bars 72% Fat (recipe below.)

Nope on track 100%. LOVE the ideas of the coconut bars - will try that one but not 100% sure on which sweetness to use?

Celery - move on. Next suggestion as Nom or pasha would testify, If they were here of course, celery (to me) is the devils vegetable.
Primula cheese. Sorry to disagree is muck. Oh philly in a freezer bag is as far as I'll go - and I know you won't take that in the wrong way and really appreciate your answer to my question. Appreciate it this way - NUFC are down 7 -0 to young boys brataskavia at half time . The only way to win is to pull a high fat energy boost from their shorts. What are the boys going to whip out to save the day?

Really appreciate your input. Fire away

Saturday morning 4.6mmol/L ( don't know why the reading is higher,) ketones 2.2

As we have reached the end of the FF, I think I may be nearing my goal of maintaining a more predictable reading of ketones around 2-2.5 which would encourage me to believe that I no longer was insulin resistant, or if I still am, that it was not at a dangerous level.
That would chuff me into flying smithereens!
So caution is still prescribed.
forgot to weigh myself this am, in flurry of breakfast making and leavetaking. Hardly had time to notice the golden effulgence of the sun shining through thick mist this morning.Tomorrow for weighing, then.
Babybel cheese is good for a while in backpacks and pockets on walks and runs, @Baruney. I always carry a couple in case I find myself needing a little something. AJ's celery sounds good!

The notion that our blood sugar is often in this predictably unpredictable state of flux in which as diabetics we must commit to perpetually searching for clues in our numbers, movements, emotions and menus to flesh out patterns sometimes feels freakishly akin to a stereotype of a schizophrenic genius frantically piecing together disparate clippings from decades worth of newspapers to reveal a fundamental truth about existence.

Bwahahahahah

Type2Guy you crack me up

I will go bed and post FBG's in am. ummm Fasting Blood Glucose is 8hr or more with nothing except water ingested right? That gets me thinking....but I will google that question me thinks....

Night.

This low carbohydrate bread I just purchased looks like perfection akin to the sophisticated design aesthetic of the more value oriented furniture pieces from the land of Ikea. But if I take a bite will the ingredients collapse into a pile of sawdust? I'll post a review soon.

It does look yummy @Type2Guy. And, so it should be at that price! ;) May I add...you DO have a way with words. Lmao. In Blighty, we'd call you "flowery!" :D I expect no less then a full, comprehensive review....in 3D!!! X

5.3 this morning - not too bad as I went to bed on 6.2 2 hours after having a Chinese of chicken chow mein, sweet & sour chicken, crispy chilli prawns and mini spring roll - at least the chicken and prawn part of it was low carb!!

5.1 this morning high for me but loaded with cold and had a stressful day yesterday helping no1 daughter move flat then topped off with Chinese lemon chicken and prawn crackers must be the crackers pushing up the numbers. Lok

4.4 am
red wine treatment seems to have been a success.
Lovely morning out there.
Loaf I baked last night has been well received, first in a very long time....
Good day to all.

6.6 this morning, sore throat, cold coming on - I guess that accounts for elevated reading. Typical going to Glastonbury tonight to see Ray Davies and Joan Armatrading... time for a dose of Beechams :grumpy:
