Type 2 Life

Afternoon, feeling better after yesterday's sleep-a-thon. FBG 6.4. It's sunny, windy and cold here. :)

Had a review yesterday. Doctor says I am underweight by 2 kilo's and my fasting bs should be above 5.0 "Because taking insulin is different from being a normal person"! She is also worried I could have a hypo and not wake up. I don't agree so will ignore, and I can still pinch more than an inch so I will keep on the diet until my foot has healed and I can do some muscle building exercise..
I have been told not to be so strict with myself, but as I have just bought a whole load of new clothes I shall carry on, otherwise I can see me getting back up to 23 stone. :(

Well done John, and you will get all the support you need here. Your doc has zero personal experience of type 2 -she knows just what she learned in med school. I really like my GP but I can tell when he switches over to text book stuff and panics when he's confronted by evidence showing the opposite of what he learned at uni. You're doing brilliantly well done you!

I hope everyone is having a good Friday ;). I'm late today! Had to rush this morning for my HbA1C and cholesterol tests, then off to do 18 holes on the golf course - played a bit better today. My BP was very high this morning due to changing the BP drug. I now have to take double the amount to get it back down. It used to be a constant 112/68. Today it was 166/111. I was started on a very low dose for this new one. The good news is my bg was 4.8 this morning :D.

Hi all,
Hope it's a good day all round and that the poorly ones are feeling much better.

@liam1955. William, nice result this morning, will keep fingers crossed that they find something else instead of the injections.
@KimG well done on the bg, ouch on the BP, hope it improves quickly.

We had some good news yesterday, daughter's MRI scan results came back with no abnormalities showing. It'll be up to the Opthalmologist now to find out what is causing the RAPD as the Neurologist has said it is nothing to do with the IIH. More tests I expect but at least anything really nasty in the brain has been ruled out and she now has proof that she does, in fact, possess one!!

Went to Garden Centre (Wyevale) - got trough, compost, Primulas = that's Mothers Day sorted. And I had Latte and a Fruit Scone with 3 pats of butter (no jam) and got home and tested 6.9 at 4.20pm. @13lizanne - Anna thanks for email. I am somewhat concerned that the Forum has not heard from @mo53 today?

Hi @bigjohn9916
I think you do need to be careful with insulin and wonder if there are some people on this forum who could give you some sensible advice. I do understand that you don't want to put on weight and think you have done well with the weight loss. Please do take care.

Hi @bigjohn9916 - I went onto Insulin 20 months ago and was told by the Hospital Diabetes Consultant & Nurses that my fbs should NOT be below 5. :)

Hello Everybody. I've been a bit tied up today so have only just logged on and wow there is so much news and all of it seems to be good which is great! @mojo37 well done! Excellent news. You've worked hard! @doolallylady wonderful news about your daughter! @rodman you have certainly had to take on and tackle a lot with such a positive attitude. @13lizanne and @liam1955 thank you for wondering where I was. @liam1955 I'm glad to hear yesterday was just a blip and you feel a lot better today. Fingers crossed Monday is the last injection. And your Mother's Day purchases sound delightful.

Can I just say at this point - I so pleased to hear that You @mo53 are ok, but we don't need to know about you being "tied up"!!!= that's personal!!!:D:D
