Type 2 Life

@liam1955 I have only checked it at home before I go and when I get back . I've never checked in changing room. I started swimming after I was diagnosed with prinz metal angina. I needed to exercise and lose weight but didn't like the gym and was also a bit wary of it. Do you think I should try checking in changing room before and after as an experiment?

Just a quick question regarding testing after eating.

When you're advised to test 1hr, 2hrs etc, is that from when you start eating or when you finish?
I have tried it both ways and have found there is so little difference. I tend to test 2 hours after my meal, occasionally I'll test an hour after as well if I'm eating brown rice or a protein roll, to see how long it takes for the carbs to come down. Starchy carbs usually take longer, but brown carbs like brown rice and bread are better and also don't spike immediately, the spike is more gradual. White carbs, rice, pasta, bread and potato can spike sharply. You really have try things out. Everybody is different ;)

@mo53 - Well you are certainly doing your heart good = Well Done. But, you know if you get any sudden tightness and/or pain in your chest you must stop swimming and get out of the pool and just relax. Have you made it known to your GP that you go Swimming? But, you do have good blood sugar results after swimming?:)

@liam1955 My GPs have always been delighted with the swimming. I always have a bag with me at the poolside with my spray handy. If I had any doubt at all I wouldn't get into the pool it would be too frightening. When I have tested after swimming at home I have had a couple of 5 s which is great for me. I'm going to get a accucheck mobile.

@mo53 - My Apologies. That's brilliant Mo. I know you are a sensible and intelligent person. The 5's are good - well done You.:D

@mo53 - At times the 'Ex - Nurse' takes over and does not know when to stop!!! I had an Accucheck years ago, they are excellent and reliable meters. My last meter was a Contour Next USB, but my GP Surgery said last year I would have to start buying test strips/Lancets for it. So, I asked to have the "freebie" meter they were handing out, and I get free 100 strips a month.:)

@liam1955 really it was very good advice and your suggestions were important. I'm glad you think they are good. My SD code free is really quite erratic so I thought I would buy the accucheck mobile. I did a search on here and there were quite a few positive comments. I also wanted to say that I hope your appointment tomorrow goes well and that you get some good news. :)

@mo53 - Oh that is really sweet = Thank You Mo. :) And I get to find out what my HBA1C tomorrow? Right, off to play on A to Z now.

I have an Accuchek Aviva Nano and I find it's much more accurate than the SD Code free, so even though the strips are more expensive the Accuchek is my favourite meter.

Morning all, I'm having a nice relaxing morning before I head up to Lidl. The cat's curled up in my lap, I have a cuppa by my side and A is busily creating stuff on Minecraft. He's in a good mood this morning, one of his friends is performing in Much Ado about Nothing on Saturday so a crowd of them are going up to Leicester to support him. A couple of years ago A performed in The Tempest at our local theatre and Olly came to see him so A is returning the favour :)

Hello Everyone - Not long in, went and bought myself a New pair of trousers 2inches smaller (waist wise) my HBA1C is down to 59 (was 64 in November,2015) my Cholesterol up to 3.2 (was 3.1 in November,2015) and my Ferritin (Iron Count) is up to 23 now. Have got to see the Rheumatologist, so just waiting to get appointment - and the Injections been having every fortnight have been STOPPED as from today. My liver function is raised and was told my Liver is "irritated" - and to have another LFT blood test in 4 weeks time. Consultant is pleased that I have now introduced Eggs into my diet on a weekly basis. I was weighed and I have not lost any weight OR put on any weight since my last appointment in November,2015 = but it was pointed out I have still got 10lbs left to lose! (the agreed amount was I had to lose 2 stone).:)

@liam1955 that is mostly good news isn't it? The injections stopped sounds great and the drop in your hba1c is smashing! Well done! I don't know what an irritated liver means but it is good the are monitoring it. Well done Liam! :)

@liam1955

WTG William on the good points and sympathies/best wishes on the not so good. It looks as though it was more good news than bad, particularly regarding the injections. Keep up the good work. :)

@mo53 - Thank You Mo, and I have to be honest and say that I was WORRIED my HBA1C might be up. But, I was told my food dairy is OK and it's good I have began eating Eggs. My only concern is: pain management for my Spine and joints??? Guess I'll just have to "put up" with it till I see the Rheumatologist! :(
