Type 2 Life

Welcome to the forum @maisiepug, and well done for taking the bull by the horns! I was diagnosed in October last year and I'm diet and exercise controlled as well. Walking is my main form of exercise and it's surprising how much of a difference it can make, I only had a stone to lose and I'm halfway there already! Keep on walking and I'm sure you will will see a difference soon

Just about made it to say 'Morning all', hope you're all having a good day. I've pegged out, tidied up and then came the hard choice of ironing or joining you all for a while. Good news, you won. I'm sure you couldn't be happier, lol.

@mo53
Don't forget that muscles weigh more than fat, ( I am NOT calling you fat).
Re: the cossie, you could always knit 1 and then it would stretch about 3 yards behind you in the water. :)

Well, that was a good result - I had the other half of the protein roll with scrambled eggs with half an avocado for my lunch. Pre lunch reading was 5.8 and 2 hour pp was 5.4!

Hello everybody. I went swimming for an hour and did 45 lengths again. That is 5 days running. :) @liam1955 my new meter came and I've just got a 5.7! I can't remember the last time I saw a 5! I hope everyone is having a super day!

@mo53 - Well Done You Mo:) - I think your old meter was on it's way to the kn**kers yard!!! Makes one think your recent results are "questionable"????:)

Evening everyone, welcome to the thread @maisiepug . 2 weeks today since my accident and my ear is feeling lots better. The bandages are off and I even washed my hair today - so pleased to get rid of the greasy, itchy scalp  I haven't done any exercise since the accident, (having walked 10.5 miles earlier that day) because I'm nervous about fainting or sending my BP too high - got to get back on the bike soon!!

I would like to thank everyone for their very warm welcome, it makes me feel less scared and anxious about everything knowing that there are people who understand my feelings, thoughts etc. I hope I can become a good addition to this group and that you will understand if I ask questions that may seem trivial to some of you but can seem horrendous to me at times.
Thanks again and look forward to reading and hopefully contributing.

@maisiepug I think it's the "trivial" things that cause the greatest difficulties, because we sometimes feel obliged to struggle through them alone. This forum has made my journey immeasurably easier, simply because I know I can ask the most ridiculous sounding questions and get helpful, informative replies :joyful:

@mo53 - Good fbs result for you today:D. How old was your meter? @amgrundy it was the diabetes nurse's at the Hospital AND GP Surgery who suggested that I have 4 small'ish meals a day. For supper around 11p.m. just a few crackers buttered with lumps of cheese and I test just before going to bed. If it's more than 10 hours overnight without eating then my liver takes over and dumps glucose and I have higher readings in the morning. :)

@paula.nolan42 - Just try eating something now, then check 2 hours later.:) I think? Your liver has been at work?? Try not to go more than 8 - 10 hours without food.:). Ideally, I aim to eat something every 5 - 6 hours even if it is just a piece of cheese.

@liam1955 my meter was only 2 years old as I bought it when I was diagnosed. I'm amazed I retested later it was 5.7. It really does make me wonder about all my recent results. I must admit I was surprised at my hbac1. I thought it would be much higher after the results my meter had been giving me. Still it spurred me on to stick to my LCHF diet. I had a medication review today with the doctor which included the diabetes. I told her about testing with a meter which she thought was a good idea. I told her about cutting carbs and she agreed with me. She told me that carbs were the weight gainers and that she had lost weight by cutting bread and reducing her rice! It's a shame she was a locum

Hi all,
What a lovely day it's been, it seems Spring may have sprung at last (as long as it doesn't decide to disappear again). My washing has been flapping, I love that sound.
Hubby went for a walk this morning and was really excited when he came back, (behave you lot). He always wears his pedometer, well since I bought it for him at Xmas, he wanted me to look at the score, it was over 20K steps he told me. When I looked it was over 200K, he'd been forgetting to reset it to 00  because I always used to do it for him.

'Well done' everyone with good readings, 'never mind it'll get better' to those like me having probs today. I've been all over the place today :8.6, 9.3, 7.2, 6.5 before and 6.2 after eating Sunday roast dinner. Colitis been playing up a bit so I'm putting it down to that.
Going to catch up on the games and make tea.

I've been out for a lovely walk with my husband. We went to somewhere we've been meaning to go for years - Holme Fen. It's the lowest point in Britain as it's 9 ft below sea level, the powers that be drained the mere in the 1850s to create the fen, and the land shrank as the peat dried out. There's a post that shows how high the land used to be, which makes you realise how far its dropped. It's also in the largest silver birch forest in England.

It was a beautiful afternoon, and we really relaxed.

What has everyone else been up to?

Hello. We spent most of the day down at the harbour. There were so many people about, sitting outside at cafes and down on the beach. Spent the latter part of the day in the garden. :)
