Type 2 Life

Hi guys
Type 2 hyper at the minute any advice from you lovely people would be amazing. I know to try and reduce my carbs and keep on top of medication and diet, but is there anything else that you could suggest to help before medication is adjusted. My doctor issued me with a meter today to test

@mo53 - Thank You for that. Can I ask do you have problems with Glaucoma? And what do they do at the hospital?

I couldn't watch cookery programmes on TV and especially GBBO . I'm an all or nothing kind of girl and watching a programme dedicated to food I don't eat would be self-inflicted torture!!

Exercise is a good way to keep your BG down, I was diagnosed 5 months ago and I've already lost nearly a stone through walking every day. I've also brought my FBG down from the high 7s to low 6s

Just noticed you are a Champion! When did that happen and why?

I do try to exercise I walk to and from work most days, but some days that is difficult as I had a heart bypass and have angina. The bypass helped greatly with the angina but it has recently returned my GTN spray helps though thank you for your reply all advice that I can get us great xx

@kjc2011 - Hello. You need to test blood before each meal and then 2 hours after. Keep a food dairy and log all food eaten in that meal and both blood sugar results. By doing this you will see which foods give you spikes. Exercise and Diet will help lower blood sugars. What medication are you taking at the moment?

Hi and thank you
I'm taking pioglitazone and gliclazide I don't take metformin as it made me ill even the slow release one x

@kjc2011 - Those who cannot tolerate Metformin usually take Gliclazide. Try not to go to long between or skip meals whilst on this drug as it can make you go hypoglyceamic. A lot of forum members follow the LCHF Diet (Low Carb High Fat) here is a link if you would like to have a read: www.dietdoctor.com/lchf

Just wait until your next "promotion" Barbara and William. :) Welcome to @kjc2011 who is bound to be wondering what's going on. I'm off to bed now I got up early as usual and my body clock hasn't caught up with the clock change. Good night all

I'm going to say good night as well - thanks for the laughs, my son and cat are looking equally puzzled at the snorts and giggles coming from my corner!
