Type 2 Life

Thank you @maureen5752 been taking the gliclazide for 2 weeks now. Over the past few weeks whilst testing g my bloods have steadily been dropping which is great, but for the past few days have consistently been between 4 and 7 just today been really up and down. My doctor never advised not to take gliclazide if bloods low intesting. I was thinking the same foods stress etc, but none of the foods I have eaten have effected me in this way before and stress levels low today. I have just remembered though, my blood pressure medication has been doubled as from yesterday 5mg of rampril to 10mg. Maybe this could be having an effect.

If I had jelly babies I'd spike higher so use protein to rectify the very occasional hypo.
Sugar gives me a delayed high bg, well most carbs. Preventing me from having stable bgs.

Hope things are better for you soon, but my doctor said couple of times if my bgs are 5 not to take gliclazide, give your doctor a call on Monday if things haven't improved. See what he says. Good luck hope things are back to normal soon

@maureen5752 - @kjc2011 - Hi. :) Just to say it has been known that Gliclazide can cause weight gain in some people.
Thanks, I found out recently my doctor told me!! Needless to say I wasn't happy, difficult enough to keep weight down as I can't go to gym Ect. I've gained over 5kilos since December but lost a kilos recently, told my daughter I want lipo suction for my birthday, ha ha. have a good evening don't forget the cheese and crackers

@liam1995. My doctor also told me that when I come off gliclazide I will not be given anymore strips!! Great.

@maureen5752 - That's terrible about the test strips! You mentioned in an earlier post if your blood sugars are low not to take your meds.? If it was ME I would not take the Gliclazide. But, still take the Metformin, because it is the Gliclazide that causes Hypo's - but this is what I would do. Hope you are feeling better in yourself:)

@mo53 - Yes Thanks Mo. Had my Salad for Dinner and going to have my crackers and cheese at 11.30pm. Do you want to play some quick games or are you tired?:cat:

I will take the metformin but
I didn't take gliclazide tonight, gonna try cut it down, but not looking forward to buying strips, was even told machine will have to be returned when I come of gliclazide! Great. We should be given help with our diabetes not agro. Ate your cheese yet? I made some great peppered chips & kind of coleslaw tonight with celeriac, lightly peppered and sprayed oil on chips and oven cooked. Great. Grated the rest and added Dejion mustard and little mayonnaise, low carb. Insulin was suggested last year as my bgs were sky high but I refused, luckily I got it under control myself, if they'd checked my bgs earlier they'd have seen it was 23.4! I was so ill. Anyway thanks for help have a good evening. What's left of it

@v4victory you look like you have experienced a typical liver dump. Try testing before getting out of bed. I keep my meter near my bed incase of a hypo through the night. Once you rise as does your bgs.
Not going too long without food prevents your liver dumping. Some have a supper to prevent that.
Hope this helps :)
Ps. Some cottage cheese has sugar addded. What carb level is your cottage cheese?
Thanks ikihun. I didn't know it made a difference in bgl to get out of bed! Hmm...
Cottage cheese has 4g carbs for every 100g.

Oohhh dear my bloods have been so erratic today. Started off 6.9, then after breakfast 7.1, before lunch 3.8, after lunch 8.9, before my evening meal 4.3 then after way down 2.8. Managed to then get them up to 7.5 after a few jelly babies and slice of toast. My diet hasn't changed, havent done any more exercise than usual and no stress. Just a nice relaxing day at home. Any suggestions anyone? Or does this seem quite normal to be up and down xx
Sounds like what I suffered couple of weeks back what I found was that now Im closer to my target weight my body is re-adjusting and re-aporotising were it distributes the glucose in the system causing our BG levels to yoyo
Mine have started to settle down a little now the name for it is physiological insuline intolerance
Hope this helps

Morning all did have a bad one yesterday spent most of the day asleep on the sofa BG levels rising again so making sunday my fasting day

Morning All,

6.7 this morning happy with this as it is 1 mmol down on the morning reading from last week and is still showing a downward trend puts me in line for day 7 of all readings below 7.0....fingers crossed hey!

Yesterday was a perfect example of Stress = raised Bs readings! We had a simple task to do of getting couple of sets of keys cut as a favour for the lady that shares the field we keep the horses in. Cue 4 trips between town and the field, one blazing row with the man from the show repairers who had cut the keys on the wrong blank but was insisting it was our fault as he was not cutting from an original key and finally after 4 wasted hours managing to get said keys cut from the lovely young lady at the Timpsons in Tesco (Should have gone there first).

My BS fingers yesterday started at 6.3 and only got to 5.9 finally pushing down to 5.4 just before bed and a good few hours of relaxing....Normally they are in the low 5's sometimes high 4's from about 11am onwards.

Interesting on the flip side I weighed myself and have dropped 1.5 kilos since Friday!

Bodies.....weird huh!
