Type 2 Life

Ok, so the "reply" is working intermittently now @ickihun but "edit" isn't...brought up all the text and code in an overlay sort of box that just went poof as I looked at it. I only wanted to add "well" at the end of the post

It's r-alpha lipoid acid. @Tim55 uses it alongside another suppliment and it has reduced his meds and improved his neuropathy.
I'm still waiting for my delivery so cannot tell you if it's worked for me -yet.
Dr Bernstein mentions it in his updated book dr bernstein's diabetes solution. He has extensive experience with insulin taking patients.
Tim55 doesn't take insulin but has been able to reduce his metformin by a third I believe. I'm not sure whether he does lchf, I think he does but neuropathy is his biggest concern, presently. He has excellent bgs even on lower dose of metformin.

Yep, I agree with most of that.

I think the key other supplement is Vitamin B12, which I take as the methyl form.

I think the reason it is helping me with my FBG levels is that one possible cause of insulin resistance is an inability to properly metabolise B12 and I suspect that may be at the root of my problem, so taking it to address my neuropathy actually also helped my FBG levels.

Ickihun is correct - I reduced my Metformin from 4 per day to 3, but found reducing it further caused my levels to rise.

Interestingly though I have recently seen them drifting up again and I do seem to see a sort of regular cycle, so I am wondering if I could actually go lower, don't think just now is the time to try it though.

I do follow LCHF principles, but I find I can take a few more liberties than most, so I am not as strict about it as perhaps I should be.

See there have been lots of posts since I abandoned trying to read and reply to posts using the App....just starting here cos I've gone boggy-eyed just catching up on some bits on the laptop (hence my now being able to reply and "like" or should I say "rate" posts......)
Well dogs have been breakfasted and walked by the dog walkers.....as usual the weather picked up as they arrived....was overcast with a very cool wind up until then....
I've had my dinner...chicken, mushrooms and spring onions cooked in slow cooker yesterday....(added a bit of packet mash to thicken) and topped with some ready rolled puff pastry...... it was OK but gave good bit of pastry to Rocks (I am testing it cos I've the same left for later) whatever the result I'm not buying it again...not impressed.
I'm sooooo tired now ...... feel like napping but it never does me any good...not that I do it often

I took advantage of my Very Bad Mood after the Pharmacy debacle and Utilities Bill On-Going Saga to do today's physical activity in the form of gardening. So, I cut all grass, got the long-handles shears out and trimmed all the long grass by the fences and paving slabs, applied weedkiller to the paths and paving slabs weeds then thought "Ooo, washing line needs a clean if I'm going to put the throws and fleecy blankets out to dry when they get their occasional wash soon."

Ten walks up and down the garden later, I concluded it wasn't going to come clean and it was time to put up the new one. (I'd bought it for the old house, but it never got up there. I moved here towards the end of last summer and didn't do any outside drying.) I was having a lovely time messing around with my clove hitches and bowlines and round turns and two half hitches (well, about five half hitches) when I realised it had got very overcast...

So - Apologies to any one in the West Midlands if it now pours with rain.

Well, instead of the nap my head was telling me it needed I ended up getting up of my........................
couch ;) (well what did you think I was going to say? :angelic::angelic:)
I'd been asked for a couple of calendars so I started to clear the pc/laptop/junk table, put bits away, got the duster out and dusted table, laptop and printer....then it was clean, clear and ready for printing....Two copies printed I got the binder out and the half moon punch, 2 combs and 2 hangers......and whadya know? I actually got through all the punching, assembling and packing without one duck up....all nicely packaged ready to go......following that I moved the table over, hoovered underneath it, cleared and dusted the top of the radiaotr.....BUT.....I now need to sort the sofa out cos most of the stuff is now sat on there beside me....:oops::oops::oops:

Home, hungry and tired. Was up at 4 am and want to lay under the duvet after a quick dinner. Yawn.
Snap to the first three tho I only awoke at 8 and haven't been anywhere
Tea will be a repeat of dinner mayb with the addition of some pkt mash. Went from 6.3 to 5.1 so that small amount of pastry was ok.
What you having to eat Eddie?
A storm is forecast, and my friends ten miles away had it but if anything, since he told me, it's gone nicer here....ooh, that wind IS getting a little frisky......
