Hi Liam, was gonna start today but had no pain today , unsure what to do, if they use them for depression also you can get addicted & difficult to get of them, probably try for few days see how they work but so many side effects which could be bad for me especially eyes so unsure whst to do. Thanks for asking. Hope things go well for you at hospital, let us know how you get on, fingers crossed for you
 
Mysterious goings-on wth blood sugar. My FBG is always pretty horrid looking, but it is normally running around 6 by lunchtime. Today I started feeling really strange after missing lunch because of a meeting that overran. Started feeling clammy and totally grumpy. My doc told me to test when I get the grumps and rages, so I did and I was 4.8. DN had told me that after years/months of having quite high BG if I get normalish readings I may feel a bit strange. She was right, I felt very strange indeed. Asking all you lovely experts out there, does this get any better?

My suggestion is you are showing normal readings for being hungry. I now can test sometimes before a meal and be at that level and now just feel really hungry.
 
Anyone suffer with getting to sleep then waking hour later all hot & clammy & morning getting up hot, clammy, sticky, & sweaty, Feel like I'm having second menopause only 100 times worse! Any ideas? ( sorry boys) thanks

Yes, I can identify with that. I can't offer any explanation, but I can certainly identify with it. I've just been putting it down to the warmer weather.... Maybe it's just our age, hun... :grumpy:

Hi never had this problem till I became diabetic. Oh to be normal again! Life was so great before, eat, drink, sleep, now it's checking carbs, sugar ect & sore fingers & toes, what a great life, seriously it's not so bad at least we are alive, you ok? How's the grandchildren? Well I hope, forum went very quiet for a while, seems people are returning agsin

Feeling rubbish tonight - really bad sciatica and my knee has seized up. :inpain:

Oh ... let's hope its sorted by the time I arrive in York in Sept. We have 3 nights in York and have decided to spend a voucher we have in Nandos during our stay .... oh, oh, oh and I understand Betty's cake and tea room is in York too .... do they do any diabetic cakes?

Sorry to hear that do hope you feel better soon, I know what sciatica & knee pain is like, been like that since accident when I was 4 but never gets better, pain is pain. Feel for you, ever tried ' deep freeze' cream? Only helps short time but it helps. Take care hope you feel better soon

@Providence 62 this 4.8 made you feel like you were having a hypo. Don't ignore these symptoms. 4.8 is a low for you. Since you've been running higher.
I encourage a protein snack not glucose on a 4.8.
If it was 3.2 or similiar then glucose (a little) will give you recovery but will then cause a spike in type 2 insulin resistant sufferers.
3s are a hypo for a well controlled diabetic (type 2)
However if you are an insulin taker then you must treat a hypo especially if below 5 to be legal to drive.
 
Thanks @Hiitsme and @ickihun for the valuable advice, it certainly felt very strange! I will keep something with protein in it just in case I get like this again. I don't take insulin, but I think it would be sensible for me to stay around the 5 mark anyway.
 
All this talk of York I've had to book some train tickets for a few weeks time. I couldnt resist. Hopefully open air pool will be still available. Ha ha @liam1955 .
Kids want to see train museum and I'll be happy with a good coffee shop. Rain permitting. There is something about York that I cannot get out my soul. No matter how North or South I live. :)

Thanks Maureen. Yes, I've tried cool spray, deep freeze cream, Voltarol gel, Ibuleve, paracetamol, diclofenac and oxycodone quick release. It's numbing the pain, but I still can't walk without two crutches and severe pain. My left knee won't hold me, despite the crutches, so I have to just slide my feet rather than take proper steps. :(
 
Morning. FBG 7.2 mmol/l. Feel fresher this morning. The CPAP machine is going to take getting used to. Definitely not as tired and feel sort of like a new man lol. Breakfast time. I have my DSN at 10.30am and back to Glagow Gartnavel Hospital Respiratory Unit with my machine for adjustment to see if the flow pressure needs adjusted. :)

No, I haven't tried those, although I generally feel more comfortable when cold than hot, especially around my feet and legs, as I don't want that darned cellulitis back!
Thanks for thinking about me, and I think it is easing a little now, because I am purely resting today.
It's probably a wake-up call for being complacent and overdoing things yesterday - like many of us, I'm great at looking after others, but very bad at looking after myself properly sometimes. (I remember you quite rightly advising caution a few days ago!)
