@Liam1955 hope you have good weekend Liam, terrible rain here, I don't drive haven't got the confidence, do it's buses & trains for me, I'm sure you'll pass the mot, met up with my daughter in the week took her shopping & for lunch, was great to see her, forum a real pain now, hope it gets sorted soon

Evening all. Does anyone know is fresh figs good or bad for us diabetics? Know they're great for eyes, I love figs & saw great figs in m&s today, full of vits & high in finer but are they bad for us, Internet gives conflicting answers

Hi @maureen5752 well I eat figs and dates too - but I am a naughty diabetic! Anyhow, I eat them only to keep me regular!! If in doubt about a certain food - just use your meter before and after to find out! However, they are full of sugar and other good nutrients, and they are supposed to be good for people who suffer with skin problems (like me) like Eczema, Psoriasis. But, We all respond differently to various types of foods. I know you have gone off eating cheese? I was going to suggest bake the figs with goat's cheese in the oven - they are really tasty.
No, I don't drive either - I'm just the co-pilot and map reader. How lovely to go for lunch with your daughter, do you make it a regular weekly thing?
Where is everybody today????

@Maureen5752 I have found some Chinese snacks in my local Morrison made with 78% green peas low carbs and low sugar great for out and about called yushoi .
Hugs to all suffering

Hi @maureen5752 I've turned into a right moaner where this forum layout is concerned.
I'm afraid to pi*s people off about it. I'm miserable about it to be totally honest with you.
I love seeing your post. You keep me going when I'm feeling a tad low. Thankyou for persisting with the bad layout and keeping in touch. I'm sure others feel the same way. ♡♥♡

Thanks to all for your good wishes, I'm chuffed to bits and hope I can "let my hair down" enough to have a good time. It will be weird relaxing all the strictness I've self-imposed for six months.
Good to hear figs are good for eyes. I'm one short at the moment so I might try fig or two. Catch you all later. X NMD.

Fbg 5.6 with no liver dump block. Too many nuts for a snack between lunch and dinner. I blame the rain. Ha ha

I just needed to tell someone how good my fbgs are lately but having tingling toes even on 4 or 5s.
I've ran out of r-ala supplement @eddie1968 which have definitely helped with light numbness on baby toes and insulin need. I was on R-ala 300mg daily and just 44 units of mixed insulin but now without supplement I need 60 and 60 units of insulin.
Mind u no matter how much insulin no weight gain or loss when it's reduced. Strange?
Carbs give me swelling and water retention. (Inflammation).
Looks like I might have scatica AGAIN! My pelvis is killing me on walking on my right side. Seeing GP tuesday evening.
@debrasue have you had scatica without leg or back being painful and just pelvic pain?
Thanks :)

Hi Vicky - I've noticed you've been getting great BGs lately - well done!
I'm sorry to hear you're struggling with sciatica again though - that must be making you really miserable. I've not had it in my pelvis; I usually get it in my left lower back, radiating into the buttock on the same side and sometimes travelling into my leg. I wonder whether the change in the weather is causing yours to flare up again? I also wonder whether the tingling in your toes might be related to the sciatica, too?
I hope your GP can come up with some solutions for you on Tuesday hun. Big hugs xx

Thanks @debrasue I'm thinking all kinds. Ovarian cancer the lot. Hoping just scatica and co-codamol management.
Does damp weather trigger scatica then? I've never had it til I've lived up north. 3 bouts of it to date.
I sleep with feet out of bed so cooler air might be triggering it. Bed socks for me, me thinks!

Hi Vicky the cold weather does affect sciatica,so not looking forward to winter. Think we will need to get thermals out. The cold now affects Ron with the arthritis. Hes very uncomfortable walking around the chiller sections in the supermarket.

I think it's perfectly natural to assume the worst when it comes to unresolved pain, because it affects us on all levels - physically, mentally and emotionally. But, yes, cold or damp weather can certainly trigger sciatica, along with a lot of other conditions like arthritis flare-ups etc. Warmth certainly helps me with sciatica - have you tried a hot water bottle on it? xx

I shouldnt moan as I know Ron and others suffer more. I'm thankful for co-codamol support. Sometimes it relieves it totally, sometimes co-codamol just takes the edge off. Better than nothing at mo.
Friday I forgot to take pain killer sooner and I cried all the way to our local park. I was determined to get kids out in sunshine. Good job I did. Its rained ever since.
Funfair trip tomorrow might have to be rethought if raining. :(

Hi everyone, I've been rather absent from here cos of issues at home. Water has been coming into my kitchen since last Saturday but I wasn't able to report it til Tuesday cos of the bank holiday :( A workman came out on Thursday but despite doing a thorough examination he couldn't find where it was coming from. He thinks the drains are blocked up because the students block next door is having some extensive building work done to it. Unfortunately he didn't have the right tools so he's arranged for another workman to come out groan! In the meantime I daren't put a wash on in case even more water comes gushing out, so I'm having to go to the launderette which is costing a fortune!

Put a claim in hun! It should be covered. Theyll allow a certain amount for launderette, because you are keeping the cost down instead of using dry cleaners they are expected to pay out. I know no receipt but be insistant. You will have to write and rewrite to insist on it. I'll help you, by direction if you need me. I'll PM you later today to direct you to whose insurance needs to pay out. ;)
