Hi William I have been on dietdoctor site it has a lot of very good information but I haven't followed it in the true sense has I also am 17 years diabetic and since testing before and after on here I cannot tolerate carbs they spike my BG too much.@Granny_grump_ - Well, Hi Kathleen(I thought you might be a Kathleen!). Yes, Walnuts are good - I eat them also and Pecans too. But not any salted nuts as they ''burn" my mouth!!
In fact raw nuts like: Almonds, Pecans, Walnuts, Cashews are great for lowering and controlling Blood Sugars. And if you don't feel like having a meal - eat a handful of nuts.
9 lbs weight loss since January is good and it's a start. It's better to loose weight slowly about 3 - 4 lbs a week. We have a thread called: Weigh-In and most people post their weight on a Friday (but you can post it anytime) I will tag you on it tomorrow morning and you can put on it what you have lost since January.
Have you thought about the LCHF Diet (Low Carb High Fat) a lot of Forum Members follow this diet, there has been some fantastic results. It helps to lower your Blood Sugars, HBA1C and loose weight too. Click on the links below to have a read about it.

As a suggestion - it may be a good idea to have a notebook to hand, so you could write down things. There's a lot to learn - but, it's best to take one day at a time. You have a Blood Glucose test meter and that is the most important piece of a Diabetics equipment. William![]()
So intermittent fasting occasionally 24 hour fasts and proteins and vegetables, though I haven't lost a huge amount of weight I've dropped 2 dress sizes the body fat is melting ha ha!! Never have I ever been able to achieve what's happening,I was 2 years at slimming world and only got to where I am now in a month.
So until I hit a plateau I will carry on and take on board all your advice about healthy snacks, hope my doctors carry on with my prescription for test strips and lancets but I will quote chapter and verse about what I've learned on here to keep getting the prescriptions. Keep the advice coming I'm ever so grateful for it and your everlasting patience. Kathleen
