they begrudgingly gave me one when first diagnosed because my blood sample was full of ketones and my meter readings were nearer four than mid fives which i thought was the whole idea!! i explained that it was because of the lchf thing i was on and the ketones loss was due to the diet they were worried about hypos,,, they withdrew funding when last blood test came as remission [ 5.5]Type 2 s have to buy there own only type 1 s get free issues
Hi I have to self fund and I understand that is the case for lots of type 2 but type 1 diabetics are funded.Purely out of interest, those of you who live in the U.K.,do you have to buy your own meters, testing strips etc, or is this all supplied by the nhs? I left Scotland to live in Switzerland 40+ years ago and am somewhat out of touch, but it still interests me. Appreciate if anyone could take the time to bring me up to date. Sleep well
Would add, if a Type 2 has meds especially insulin and sulfonylurea's they get funded by the NHS, most CCG's also fund meters and strips for metformin users as well, but this is not universal.Type 2 s have to buy there own only type 1 s get free issues
