Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

Creeping down, oh so slowly 7.6 today (9th August 2016). Might be an element of liver dump, will take William's advice about the cheese before bedtime. Doctor booked on Friday to look at this foot, I think I have a collapsed arch!
The pain from your foot may also be causing higher BGs...
Hugs x

Morning All

Slightly stressful evening, hours delay in Malaga and finally got to bed around 03.00, so perhaps unsurprisingly a 5.2 for me today.

Restarted ALA supplement this morning though, so we will see what happens.

I find that fasting level readings can be quite misleading. I used to use test strips and now know that my readings were quite wrong. I now use a Libre and can see that my BG level rises rapidly when I fully wake and get up. By the time I get up, wash fingers and test, it has risen 3 mmol! So I can wake with a level of 4 ( the actual fasting level ) but by the time I test with a strip it is up to 7 mmol. This is confirmed 10 minutes later when the Libre catches up (it measures interstitial glucose so has a 10 minute delay). I assume this is morning effect and liver dump.

So the timing of the test can make a big difference to the level.

I'm extremely interested.
If you get time a few others would benefit from your findings on type 2 life thread. I know you can get too busy but shy posters will be interested too.
If you can. :)

I totally agree @Bill_St .
I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place.
I need to have a fatty protein immediately on rising to block my liver dump but I also have to have an empty stomach for my thyroid tablets.
On seeing your post I've decided to try taking my tablets before bed instead. Although I suspect I have slow emptying stomach on higher bgs so it will take a while to break that cycle of accumulating bg and food in the stomach.
My specialist called it a weak stomach. Dr bernstein enlightened me more.
