5.4 fasting.

4.8 two hours post-breakfast after a lovely walk.

Anna - that's a great improvement don't you think? I remember you had reads much higher than that and you've been poorly.

I stopped reporting because my readings were edging up to the 15s and I hit 18.8 last week.

My fasting was 13.2 today morning - I was referred to the hospital on Mon by my GP as I was feeling awful (my readings generally from 11 to as high as 20 over the last 3 weeks).
They kept me in over night and all day yesterday, poked and prodded and they couldn't understand why my readings were up and why I felt so bad - calls made to the Diabetologists at another hospital and they put me on 40mg 1 daily Glipizide for now (and tested me for 6 hours for poss hypos).

I'm awaiting for an emergency Diabetologist appointment. My read just now is 8.2 after 4 hours since breakfast so am hopeful.

I found the morning readings very up and down, the best reading to take and go by was always 1 hour following food, I was told by my nurse that this gives a picture as to how your body is processing the food, often the morning ones are high as during sleep the body releases chemicals to keep your sugar levels higher.

Hi Nicola, and welcome!

Many of us work by taking readings immediately before food and then 2 hours after - the second reading should be roughly the same as the first, and certainly (for Type 2) below 8.5 mmol/l, 2 hours after eating.

Daisy1 will be along tomorrow to greet you properly, and she'll post some information for you that I hope you'll find interesting. Meanwhile, have a good look round and ask any questions you like! Someone will try to answer.

5.7 just after getting out of bed and 5.8 two hours after breakfast :)

3.8 at 08:30 - quite a shock! :shock: That's the low end of the non-diabetic range - I think I must have woken up before my liver this morning :lol: . No hypo feelings so resisted the glucose tabs and just had my normal cup of coffee.

Tested again about 10 minutes after my breakfast omelette and it was up to a reassuring 5.6. Phew!

I ate some flax seeds last night, this nut definitely raises my BS.

Are we all singing from the same hymn sheet here - my monitor measures whole blood so its different from a plasma monitor - I think we need to state what method of measurement we are using.

7.7 but have not been eating much due to flu type virus. Haven't been able to taste anything for 4 days and it really puts you off eating. Could be the sugar in the cough medicine. Couldn't find anything sugar free at local shop, and couldn't be bothered going to chemists. Ahhhtchoooo!!

Just to let you know (You might already!) that Robitussin do a sugar free cough mixture.

Thanks grazer, but i just feel too rubbish to go out again. It will get better soon with or without cough medicine, as it always does. Just a nasty strain of bug.

5.8 at 08:30 today. I had a Burgen chicken salad sandwich last night instead of chicken and vegetables - maybe that did it!

Three good days of eating after a bit of a lapse on holiday last week.

Rewarded by fasting 6.7 (I'm typically over 7 in the morning).

Hopefully will come a bit lower later in the week.
