20g a day even for a type 2 diabetic on diet and exercise in my opinion is a big reduction in quality of life....
Why?
I've been under 20g of carbs for nearly three years now!
How can you say that?
My quality of life and more importantly my health is brilliant!
I have a full working life, I travel the country following my team, I socialise, I have a great family and everything I need to live my life now because I'm full of energy!
I'm not restricted because I've accepted that to live my life the way I have to, means being under 20g all the time!
Because you can doesn't mean that we are deprived of eating rubbish that only makes me really ill!
I'm better off now than twenty years ago!
It's entirely possible. But your food choices are extremely limited with such a low allowance.
I had three pork sausages for breakfast this morning, so that would be me at around 20g carbs too...

Have you tried going to 20g carbs? I think you might find it interesting! I am not hungry. and apart from potato and bread there is very little difference to ordinary eating as far as I am concerned. Apart from being able to eat cheese and cream that is.20g a day even for a type 2 diabetic on diet and exercise in my opinion is a big reduction in quality of life....
Aye they weren't the classiest of sausages, hence the higher than ideal carb contentI had 3 sausages this morning and they came to 3g carbs total. I did under 20g for nearly a year and it was fairly easy. having said that I accept if you eat fruit and high carb sausages you may have a different opinion.
I am amazed how easy it is - here's 2 weeks worth of menus 3 meals a day and all 14 days are 20g or less. Delicious food too. Some people are claiming to achieve under 20g of carbs a day. Is this possible? I have just had an apple and a very small spoon of yoghurt for breakfast and it came to 19.6g!

I don't eat fruit but even that in itself doesn't reflect on the heavy limitations that <20g carbs per day has on your diet. It is undeniable that you have to make heavy sacrifices to play that game.
I'm not condoning that dietary choice, in fact - I admire those who can stick the LCHF approach. But, fruit or not fruit - your diet vs mine (circa 180g-200g carbs per day) - there is no question who's has the biggest restrictions and lesser food options. That was the point of my post which you quoted.
To be honest my quality of life would be much more reduced by losing my sight or a leg..looking at it from that perspective eating steak every day isn't a hardship...20g a day even for a type 2 diabetic on diet and exercise in my opinion is a big reduction in quality of life....
Oh yum......we have had them so often since you first told me about then. And the skinsDon't forget the roast chicken.
I buy a 1 Kg pack of chicken thighs and toss them into my 'Actifry' for 45 minutes. It is worth buying one of the hot air fryers just to do chicken thighs. When done the skin is crispy and the meat moist and delicious. It cooks lamb chops or beef and onions or even casseroles, stir fries etc - even a bag of frozen low carb veges with a little stock and butter added - but the chicken...
Sshssh shussh - the skins evaporate in the steam - so there aren't any to put on the plates - er - honest - they just go away.....Oh yum......we have had them so often since you first told me about then. And the skinsdon't forget the crispy skins.
How could a piece of bread or some bland rice be better than all you have mentioned!!!! Yum!!!! I'm drooling for lamb chop dinner now in mushroom gravy!!!Crispy bacon. creamy scrambled eggs, smoked salmon. crispy duck. roast pork, crackling, roast chicken. fillet steak mushrooms in creamy pepper sauce. endless varieties of cheese. coffee with cream, rich greek yogurt and berries. skate wing fried in butter..fresh salads and veggies.. I could go on for ages.
20g carbs a day... am I deprived.. hell no!
