I have just completed my first successful 24 hour fast, with no shakiness or dizzyness.

in fact, I feel more clear headed than I have for a long time.

I want a Mutley Medal : )))))))))

I got fed up (pun intended) of waiting to see my other consultant to get permission to try to change my diet, so decide to give it a go and see what happens.

I am going to have a big ham salad, with full fat mayo, to celebrate, and then wait until I get hungry again before I eat again. Watch this space..................................

I had another 24 fast yesterday/today (accidentally fasted this time as, due to a family row, I didnt want to eat) and i feel fine physically. Emotionally not so good, but am taking it as a positive that I didnt food binge when upset.

However, I weighed myself and have lost 5lbs in the 2/3 days. Is all this water? @bulkbiker how do I know if weight loss is real fat loss?

The first few pounds are likely to be water .. it's the "whoosh" that new ketogenic dieters can experience. But some of it will be body fat as you are switching to running on fat as fuel rather than the moderate low carbs you normally have. Obviously the fewer the carbs you eat when you eat the longer your body will be using it's body fat and the further you'll get into ketosis.
If you can it may be a great opportunity to carry on with a bit more carb reduction so eat more fat and protein based meals when you do eat and then carry on with the fasting for the rest of the time. It may even help alleviate some of your other conditions (lots of anecdotal evidence on the www.ketogegicforums.com).
Edit to add.. well done (although not for the circumstances..)

Wow. That is great!

Not so much the actual fast - because it is 'just fasting' (which is a silly thing to say, I know, especially when fasting seems such a big hurdle)
But more because of the psychological barrier that you just blasted through!
And also, because you felt well on it.

I feel like that with fasting. A good feeling. Clarity and a step back from the demands of the body. :)

Really impressive. You have contributed on this forum for a while, so perhaps reading what others have done helped you over the line.

It is liberating knowing that you are not a slave to food and can take it or leave it. Said in a cheesy accent...good job.

Give us a medal!

Well done i think the first 24 hr fast is a ball buster if your not in keto. Again well done, Im glad you feel so good while doin it.
June Fast 2018 coming up for you!!!!!!!!!

In relation to weight loss..... If memory serves me right (I am open to being wrong on this) Dr Fung stated fat loss is between 50-76% of total reduction.
So if you lose 10 pounds 5-7 ish of that will be fat. We are all different.

edit..... just read from Fung that you will on average lose half a pound a day of fat while fasting..... the rest will be water.... thats totally normal.

Well done @lucylocket61.

I'm excited for you. The world's your oyster now.
It is always an eye opener to see how far you can push your body and discover its limitations.
Especially after a long time of no weight loss. Your mind convinces you you cannot lose.
A great inspiration when you see it losing again.
Its like all our Christmas's together. Well for me.
I know for you too, especially once other conditions improve as a side effect.

My lacking is pushing my body harder and harder, then I become ill due to wanting more and more weight loss.
@Rachox seems to have the right idea in pacing yourself for longer and longer positive effects but not more severe.
Take your fasting and use it wisely. Don't make the same mistake as me and push my body into deficiencies.
I'm absolutely delighted for you.
You will be great at passing on your personal experience without judgement too.
I'm so pleased for you. :) :) :)
Your brilliant :)

When you say you put your body into deficiencies can you explain how that happened. Fasting is such an excellent tool we can use. I use it but have not heard of anyone damaging themselves

Cheers

If you fast for over 36hr you need to have some salts, the easy option is brone both.

Well done you your first fast, if you repeat 3 times a week it is very lickly to result in a great outcome.
