Walnuts... so how many carbs?

Sainsbury's walnuts - 3.3gms Carb
I find eating some carbs, particularly after eating something likely to put BS up, actually seem to lower my BS :)

I have circa (measure by eye now) 70 grams a day of Walnuts (plus Brazil, Pecan, Almonds, Cashews (40 grams) Hazelnuts and Macadamia) with my yogurt and berries. You are well controlled so you might not get too big a hit on your choice of nuts, looks like it's a meter / scales test for you.

OK well very interesting waitrose says 7g per 100g for their own brand and the duchy organic ones.. as does Tesco...looks like Sainsbury is the outlier here...

Might not be a problem for you but worth bearing in mind that 70g of Walnuts is nearly 500 kcals.

Just got some Tesco own brand and they're 3.2g. I don't really care, love them to bits. Add some full fat Greek yoghurt and I'd take it over cheesecake or a pudding, any day of the week.

Wow Tesco have a range of 3.2g to7 g per 100g in the first 3 that come up under walnuts on their... they have invented the low carb walnut... hmmm

Ah, but it's so filling that a small meal and snack adding up to another 1,000 kcals would be plenty. The joy of LCHF is little or no hunger.

Given @Mbaker Fasting numbers I would be surprised if he considers the calories.... I gave up worrying about them a long time ago.... eating low carb I find the trick is eating enough...

OMG, that's what I'm saying!!! Magical!!! Keeps bs rock steady.

How do you eat yours? I just use sea salt usually. Some with every meal. Until avocado I was always hungry and thinking about food. That's all gone and blood work is much better too. Cholesterol best it's been in years.

I have at least one a day often two.
Lunch with olives, celery, garlic, avocado spooned out of skins, humus and sauerkraut all mixed together with a shot of EVOO and salt.
Dinner, watercress salad with avo and dressing.

LOL! I know! I'm really struggling with how a walnut could be grown with more or less carbs. Sugary fertiliser?

It's a bit sinister. Are they treated with something sugary during the transporting process? Something that burns off but leaves a residue?

I love a conspiracy theory.

HA! Avocado and celery IS my bf. Often with a thin slice of turkey

Lunch and dinner both have avocado, protein and veggies all I ed together and drizzled with garlic oil. You'd think by now I'd be sick of them but I can't go a meal without!! And if I try bs gets wonky. It's a complete meal balanced.

I just don't know how many carbs, not that I care but it seems to be like walnuts. Different amounts all over the place.

So true! Avocados from Florida, California, Europe, all have different carb counts. But, like walnuts, I really don't care. They are satisfying and enjoyable. What more could you expect from a food?

Had same for frozen blueberries from Tesco. 5.8 on their packs, 14 on tinternet...

Fruit I understand being a little different due to ripeness or sweetness but nuts I cannot really understand how they vary so much.

I have been blissfully unaware of the calories in the food I consume, it was coincidently just last week when my wife started to enter foods into her Fitbit App that I thought to measure some of mine. On my current regime I have managed to drop 3.5 kg's eating this way, so maybe the calories in the nuts don't stick. I do mainly eat twice a day with no snacks, three times if I am doing a weeks Fitbit challenge. I will be cutting back a bit as I do want to break regularly into the 85 kg's if I can.
