The A2 starts in Central London and runs south east through Kent, becoming the M2 for a while but then becomes A2 again for Canterbury down to Dover. Was much travelled in in my youth on way to camping holidays in Europe.
But its nothing to do with my username.I started as MrsA but lost the password and had to sign up again, so nothing as exotic as a highway to adventure, sorry
Thanks. Oddly, I must have travelled along that road hundreds of times going to/returning from cricket and rugby. I never really notice road numbers just where I need to get for meeting time. Thanks for quite a nice reminder. @DJC3 ya can't block modsThe A2 starts in Central London and runs south east through Kent, becoming the M2 for a while but then becomes A2 again for Canterbury down to Dover. Could a slow cooker on "warm" double as a sous vide?
( I, too, am banned from more gadgets, but think Santa is bringing me a waffle maker and a single egg sized frying pan, because I asked nicely and have been good)
I've spent the afternoon making a Christmas Pie - based, quite loosely on a Yorkshire Christmas Pye - a very old recipe which uses various kinds of game in a pie with herbs and spices. I just liked the idea of doing it. In all these years of cooking and baking, I've never made hot water crust pastry. Thought about it, but thought it would be a difficult pastry to make. So, today was the day. The pastry looks absolutely fine and fairly appetising. The filling is skinned duck breast, skinned chicken breast, turkey breast steaks, fatty bacon and pork sausage meat. I also added some cranberries and sour cherries. The original is only meat, no veg and no sausage meat. I will top it up with chicken stock (jellied) tomorrow, as if it were a pork pie (also not in the original). I just reached the stage when I had to do it. Shan't eat it, of course, although once it is cut, I might have some of the filling. Something else for No 2 son's larder. He can put it in his freezer and use it for supper on Christmas day, or Boxing day. The pastry, in fact, was very easy to make, but difficult to handle once it cooled down. It had to be worked quickly to keep it pliable. Smells good!
Just saw an item on TV about black garlic. I've never seen or used it, but I do love garlic. So I've ordered some from Amazon. It should arrive next Tuesday. Sounds really good. Not cheap, of course but, as long as I don't use it as sweets, it should be worth it.
Garlic is super easy to grow, Ann, so might be worth planting a couple of cloves? They like to grow in the cold weather. I planted some "ordinary" a few weeks ago and it's going great guns
Hey @Chook great to hear from you. I am doing fine thanks - I got made redundant from my office job because of all this covid carry on but after doing only office work for over 35 years I have landed myself a job in retail - a change for me (as there is absolutely nothing on the office front at the moment) I am just going with the flow ... nothing else for it. And preparing now for Christmas. It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas ... it has been very cold and snowy here today - I am even looking forward to the forecast for rain tomorrow - anything but snow - especially when I have to go out in it - it has been great working local today as I didn't have to drive in it.
@zauberflote very kindly started this general chat thread for us all - thanks again Mrs - not a low carb chat just an anything chat really - have a look around and please join us and fill us in, in what you have been up to - I for one would be very interested in what you are eating these days to achieve your amazing FBGs you have achieved on the other thread. Looking forward to you catching up with us all - only if you want to - please do x
Chook the 800 Cals diet seems to be working wonders for you - fantastic weight loss and great FBGs too. I think you are definitely onto something with eating earlier. @ziggy_w I know does the same. I try to, but feel guilty if I’m eating before Paul gets in from work.Hello, thank you for tagging me... so this is where you are all chatting - I've missed posting.
@Mrs T 123 - I'm sorry to hear about your redundancy but congratulations on your new job - are you enjoying it?
I'm still on the 800 calorie a day diet (inspired by the Newcastle diet and Michael Mosley 's Fast 800 diet). It's boring but is working - weight down 2 stones and FBGs mainly in the 5s. Apart from sticking to 800 calories I've also moved my main meal back to 4-4.30pm and don't eat after that. Oh, and I've given up alcohol (don't know how long that will last!!)
I'm also.preparing for Christmas - at the moment it will be just me and Mr C for dinner but one of our neighbours has bought a fire pit thingy and a canopy and has invited us round for some outdoor booze.
I finally did get my hospital appointment (third time lucky) and the (very strange) consultant diagnosed me with fibromyalgia, polyarticular osteoarthritis and degenerative spine disease - weirdly since that appointment I have been feeling quite a bit better!!

I love the idea of fire pit and booze with neighbours at Christmas - worth waiting to have a drink for.
Hugs for all those conditions you’ve just been diagnosed with - crikey! Glad you’re feeling better now though.
Its easier for me, the only time we have meals together is on his days off (Friday and Saturday). I am having three days off it over Christmas and two days off over New Year's - mainly due to 'traditional' meals we have each year.
My main worry is what happens at the end. I don't for one minute think that I will be free of diabetes but I don't want my FBGs back up in the 10s, 11s and 12s - I hated that feeling.
About the things i was diagnosed with - TBH its a relief to know what it all is.
Great news let us know how breads taste crossing fingers@shelley262 Thanks for the steer to The Low Carb Company, Delivery arrived on time, in date and very well packaged. 5 ready meal bundle - all in the freezer. Possibly for travelling next year to see new granddaughter in S'oton; 1 each of seeded bloomer and sliced bread (for freezing in portions) plus some of their flour for "experiments" I will try one or both breads today now I have some benchmarks from both Skinnybread and the mouldy guys.
The bread was unexceptional in taste. It didn't "get in the way" of the butter if that makes sense. We like President butter and I find LC bread is a often a poor carrier and bulking agent. This is soft, more substantial than skinnybread and, for me, less problematic than SLC - no eggs or palm oil:Great news let us know how breads taste crossing fingers
