The bread was unexceptional in taste. It didn't "get in the way" of the butter if that makes sense. We like President butter and I find LC bread is a often a poor carrier and bulking agent. This is soft, more substantial than skinnybread and, for me, less problematic than SLC - no eggs or palm oil:
Ingredients "Water, Low-Carb Flour (Golden Linseed, Oat Fibre, Psyllium Husk, Vital Wheat Gluten, Salt), Olive Oil, Yeast, Salt. We bought some of their flour so we had the correct proportions. The Food Fairy is nor sure about attempting to bake bread and I need to run the comparative costs through a spreadsheet.
Thanks for letting me know may order some this weekend for freezer. I’m making one loaf a week that we are really enjoying and very similar ingredients to above except I add an egg and use butter not olive oil. But am experimenting and going to try Oo rather than butter next time and possibly leave out egg. Think cost of home bake may be more but you get the aroma baking and enjoy it rising in the background. I can’t imagine now not having bread so will continue baking and try this version too as a back up.

Hello, thank you for tagging me... so this is where you are all chatting - I've missed posting. :)

@Mrs T 123 - I'm sorry to hear about your redundancy but congratulations on your new job - are you enjoying it?

I'm still on the 800 calorie a day diet (inspired by the Newcastle diet and Michael Mosley 's Fast 800 diet). It's boring but is working - weight down 2 stones and FBGs mainly in the 5s. Apart from sticking to 800 calories I've also moved my main meal back to 4-4.30pm and don't eat after that. Oh, and I've given up alcohol (don't know how long that will last!!)

I'm also.preparing for Christmas - at the moment it will be just me and Mr C for dinner but one of our neighbours has bought a fire pit thingy and a canopy and has invited us round for some outdoor booze.

I finally did get my hospital appointment (third time lucky) and the (very strange) consultant diagnosed me with fibromyalgia, polyarticular osteoarthritis and degenerative spine disease - weirdly since that appointment I have been feeling quite a bit better!!
Good to see you @Chook and great to hear how well you are doing. Sounds like you’ve hit on a successful approach for you just now.

I am glad you decided to join us x Wow what amazing FBSs and just with changing your food and counting calories - that really is a big difference from 10s and higher - so what kind of things do you have for breakfasts, lunches and dinners? (I am always looking for new ideas, I seem to eat the same old boring things week in, week out). You must feel fab at losing all that weight too! I too have osteoarthritis in my finger what is polyarticular?

The new job is ok - pros are it is local (so no driving if I don't want to - especially with the snow at the moment) I can walk there in 10 minutes, the job in itself is a lot more active which I like - so I had lost a few extra pounds but I think I have put a couple back on this week as I have been really hungry and greedy. The job is easy and I have made a few new friends.

Cons - I am now earning half my usual wage but again this is only part-time so I suppose I can't have it all - shifts are variable which at the moment is fine as I am not doing a lot outside work. I do prefer the Monday-Friday 9-5 office work but who knows what next year will bring and I am really lucky as I was only out of work for 2 weeks so can't complain. Just really strange times for everyone just now.

In saying that I am off this weekend - woo hoo and the plan is to put the xmas tree etc up ...

Hi Chook, lovely to see you. You have been missed.

Related to your new diagnosis, are they going to treat you in any way?

Edited to add, I too have had an arthritis diagnosis, although mine seems to be considered osteo over multiple joint. Typically for me, I'm not presenting typically.

No **** Sherlock!

Did they talk about Capsicaine cream with you?
Is the capsicaine cream for oesteoarthritis? as when I asked the doc for something for the swelling she said I was to take nothing not even ibuprofen .... even if it was sore? she was really helpful - NOT

Yes, it's Capsaicin, but my brain insists on Capsicaine.

It's prescription only, but for reasons nobody can fathom (a paraphrased quote - if that not an oxymoron in itself), according to the Rheumatologist I "saw". She stated she'd instruct my GP to make it available to me, if I want it. Apparently, not many GPS are familiar with it.

I have Googled it, and there are lots of recipes out there, so I tried my own alchemy. :pompous:

It's lovely and warming, although my first attempt is a little oilier than I'd do again, so a little more beeswax required. It's lovely and warming and soothing.

Beginning to have problems sourcing Neil's preferred brand of Soya milk - it's been a kind of off and on situation for months now so I've had to go back to online sources. The one I used latterly - Ethical Superstore, don't have any either so I've had to go back to Amazon and have managed to order some from them - Just under £2 a litre! And that's with no carriage charge. If he could use cow's milk, it would cost about £1.10 for 2 litres. It's not cheap being vegan and/or allergic!

@Mrs T 123 feel for you with the finger - had trigger ‘finger’ in my thumb a couple of years back, which was so bad it got to the point I could barely hold a pen. Ended up with a steroid injection and it’s been fine ever since.

One of the reasons I eat so few veg is the reduction in pain and inflammation in my various arthritic joints when avoiding them. I know that way of eating isn’t for everyone though.

Cute , huh? Christmas card from No3 son. Miss RMP - current baby of our brood's brood. The Cosy Coupe is a family tradition. Text says Driving home for Christmas - high risk of being hijacked by Nan and Granddad. I may be a Grumpy Old Man and have little love for LCHF but our boys produce some good stuff. Must be Julie's influence.

Lovely image, Ian.

There are some wonderful bespoke cards out there these days.

For Father's Day, this year, MrBs daughter had one made. There is an "iconic" (twixt the pair of them) photo when daughter was about 2, and they were living in Malaysia. It shows father holding a mahoooosive hand of bananas, with the toddler pointing in awe. Decades later, the photo was recreated with a similarly sized hand of banana from our garden in Antigua.

They're both such happy joyous images. Father's Day was a while ago now, but that card is still on his desk in his study. There's no rush to move it.

Great story. Yes, modern tech allows some stunning cards/momentos. Mr B's would melt the hardest of hearts.

Nigella really is impossible to like even with headphones on. The faces on it - over exuberant about nothing really by the glimpses I endure. Stupid boy promised Julie he would not go into another room and watch sport just yet - 40 mins left:arghh:. Still, at least no GBBO or things would be thrown. 4 hrs each way on a plane with that clownshoe Hollywood in seat behind very bad for Ian's equilibrium. Normal service resumed after Christmas card softened me. Phew.

Great picture Ian and a lovely card. That would cheer anyone's day.

Em and family have made their own cards - using a picture of DIL holding a roll of sticky Christmas tape which has been used to gag and tie up Em and her 14 year old brother. Caption - "Silent Night". They tried to get the newfie to sit with the tape, but he wasn't having any of it.

Hi @Chook, nice to see you back and great BGs and weight loss. @ianpspurs lovely photo. Last photo I took of the boys they rather resembled the boys in Children of the Corn!
We finally have some movement on the brother front. He is still on steroids which seems to have taken care of the swelling which caused the bleed. They have now decided that the Primary was indeed the lung cancer they treated 2.5 years ago. Thankfully, there's no sign of it elsewhere apart from the 2 leisons on the brain. He has an appointment on 22 December and meantime they are going to examine the tissue from the lung surgery to decide whether radiotherapy or immunotherapy will work best. I didn't expect surgery and I was correct. They certainly are not in a rush but I suppose that's positive.
At least we have some movement now.

Glad to hear that there is some movement on your brother's case. That's better news for the whole family.

Just heard that my cousin (aged 64) died suddenly last week. Thrombosis apparently. So hard for my 90 year old aunt to bear - she is still grieving the loss of her husband (quite a while ago now, but she hasn't really got over it), then her son last year and now her daughter. She can't quite understand what is happening to her world. She finds that it is all so wrong for her to outlive her children.

I meant to post this earlier, but forgot. This is the "recipe" for the chilli cream I'm trialling on my hands.

https://learningherbs.com/remedies-recipes/herbal-pain-relief/

Instead of all the double boiler pffaffffff, I bagged the oil and pepper powder, and dropped it into the sous vide bath overnight at 63c. I hen melted the beeswax and combined the two mixtures and decanted into little pots to set.

I have ordered some of these for the next small batch. I'll add additional wax to set it just a bit more

Many thanks for that - much appreciated - it's good to hear there is something if I should need it - 2/3 of my fingers are just slightly a bit swollen at the moment but not painful - I don't know if that will eventually come - many thanks again!
