"What have you eaten" Parallel Chat

It worked!

Very tasty too. :hungry:
In my excitement about preparing a large piece of meat in the oven for the first time in my life (roasts aren't much a thing in the Netherlands) I completely forgot I'd wanted to cook some veggies to go with it. :hilarious:
Didn't matter, I simply used my carnivore plate and had the onions from the bottom and half a head of garlic with it, not complaining and I'll be safe from vampires tonight.

There's at least enough meat left for two more days so I'll likely do something with veggies tomorrow.

Goonergal would be proud of you xx

@Antje77, your turkey leg looks moreish. I always used to buy them from Tesco, but haven't seen one in there for ages, so was very jealous of yours!
My son and dil have gone back to US and I feel a bit down about it. Because of illnesses and family issues, I haven't seen them as much as I would have liked.
Done a fair amount of comfort eating and have put on 5 lbs over 3 weeks!! The cold weather doesn't help either. So it's back to the drawing board!
The amount of rain we've had recently has caused a problem in my village. The water in my toilet is going down so slowly, a whole day to get to the normal level! The engineer says the pipes are clear but the flooding is stopping it! I'm trying to work that out because no-one else in our little cul-de-sac has this problem!

B: large chunk Brie
Tea with friends
L: 2 eggs omelette with fresh dill and a little cheese. 2 sqs hm lc cake
Mid afternoon walnuts and 3 dark chocolates
D: 8 meatballs, carrots and swede. A small coffee ice cream. Glass of wine.

Seem to be eating a lot for no good reason. Off to a funeral tomorrow so will eat eggs before we go and try to ignore the buffet after. Will pack a box of cheese nuts and olives. Might be a long drive there and back.
Hubby's aunt was very nearly 103!

Organically reared turkeys here were going for £100 at Christmas....
Whut?!

Ours aren't fed organically (standard chicken food, leftovers, some stolen cat food, bit of bread, whatever they steal from the neighbouring farmland etc.) but they don't come much more free range as ours, as they simply flap over the garden fence and roam the whole neighbourhood before coming back to roost on my roof. :hilarious: We've even had one hatching chicks in a neighbour's garden some 300 meters down the road!
What do you think, sell them for £80 because not exclusively organic fed?

Still, @RosemaryJackson is welcome to eat one for free, we're not really interested in selling, eggs we don't eat ourselves are given away as well.

I didn't check out the details as was far too expensive for me, but some people pay a fortune for local, named breed and all sorts of other marketing claims. I've just looked for links but of course they are impossible to buy now. Just thought you've got a year to come up with a plan to make riches :)

Thanks too @Antje77, though not sure I could eat one if I'd seen it roaming around in it's beautiful feathers. At least in the supermarket, it's naked lol.
If we ask really nicely (and maybe throw in a bottle of whisky) I'm sure my neighbour will undress your turkey for you. ;)

Today I cut up the last bits of the turkey leg finely and added it to a very quick and lazy tomato soup. (Tin of tomatoes, a little tomato paste, veggie stock cube, some oregano and cream cheese). Much better than yesterdays abomination, and magically one portion of turkey hasturned into two days worth of soup so tomorrow will be even lazier! :joyful:

Yesterday I decided to have a go with veggies from the frozen section, not something I have experience with at all but it sounded nice and easy.
Creamy leeks. I like leeks, I like cream, I like cream with my leeks, the ingredients and carb count looked pretty good as well, so what could go wrong, right?
Turns out just about everything, yuck! :stop:
I have absolutely no idea how the creamy leek factory managed to make something this simple taste this horrible.
I tried to save things by adding the leek to a portion of leftover turkey instead of having them side by side. Bad decision. Good thing I misjudged amounts and it turned out to be a very small portion. I finished it and had a generous amount of nuts afterwards. :hilarious:

Very odd day today, quite stressful and frustrating too.
I woke up to a text message from someone tipping me on a vacancy for a job I think I really might enjoy.
First a very nice swim outside, followed by the first aqua jogging lesson after the holidays and groceries.
Feed the guinea pigs, brew coffee, sit down to do something with that vacancy, deadline for application is in two days.

I have very little experience in writing resumes and application letters, so it ended with 15 open tabs, a headache, the first two sentences of both my resume and my letter (neither of which I'm happy with so far so they'll have to be adjusted), and an unbelievable amount of procrastination, I had no idea that stupid match 3 games could hold my attention for hours! :sour:
In between I received and replied to two complicated emails by Steve (the one I had a second date with). He's the sweetest person and he feels he's not worthy, and at the same time I like him a lot and I'd love to see him more often but I miss that spark I think is needed to start a more serious relationship. Both things needed to be talked about, I definitely don't want to hurt him so writing was a delicate thing, I hope I did it right. This dating thing sure is complicated.

As for the resume etc, I told myself to at least write a little more before allowing myself my usual 5 pm beer but I gave up at 7 pm and called a friend.
She'll come by tomorrow at around noon to look at me sternly whenever I'm tempted to check the forum, Facebook, or play stupid games on the computer. She also has done much more applying to jobs than I have, so I can simply write the thing while grumbling to my friend, and then she can magically turn it into something that actually looks professional to the eye. :angelic:

Any tips on applying for jobs in general or this job specifically are very welcome!
I suppose the internet will translate for you, so I'm including a link to the vacancy just in case someone has a brilliant idea on what should be in my letter. :hilarious:

@Antje77, the one thing that bothers me in that job, is that you have to be prepared to work irregular hours on a continuous schedule. I'm thinking of your Diabetes here. But the job sounds perfect for you. I wish you the best of luck.
Thank you!

I know many people have trouble with their diabetes working irregular hours but I don't really expect issues. My hours are pretty irregular already (going to bed between 11 pm and 5 am, sometimes eating lunch, sometimes not, evening meal between 6:30 and 11), and I haven't had problems switching between being at home and sailing, sometimes waking up in the middle of the night because the tide is right.

I'm more worried how I'll find switching between day and night shifts in general. Never tried it so I don't know if it works for me.

@RosemaryJackson replying here to your comment on main thread about taking olive oil in the morning and finding it a bit greasy. I daily take good quality Norwegian wild fish oil ( 1 teaspoon) and three teaspoons of organic extra virgin olive oil (currently Italian single type olive cold pressed) and always mix with my kefir - it blends easily into the kefir and would blend with yoghurt. I find that there is no aftertaste if you do this as the dairy acts as a carrier. We have been taking oils this way for a couple of years now and I'm convinced it helps our health. Not clinically proven but it works for us and no plans to change this habit.

Just wanted to wish you luck in applying for the job.
You have so many strengths relating to the job and I would say most important thing is to highlight the key tasks and person specifications and then give examples of how you demonstrate them currently - certainly no problems 're the different language skills needed.!

Yesterday I had a plan. Eat before going to a funeral. Take a pot of cheese, nuts and olives to eat instead of the buffet.
Part 1 worked with 3 large eggs scrambled for lunch
Then after the service I looked at the buffet and nothing there I could eat all..sandwiches, sausage rolls, mushrooms canapés on toast, cake but for soem reason I didn't get my supplies out. Then they bought out the hot food, veg spring rolls and mini fish and chips.
The smell got me (and I was cold) so I succumbed :banghead:
I only had 2 mini spring rolls, 6 chips and 1 piece of fish that turned out to be mostly batter, but omg the rise on my libre, straight up from 5 to 13, and it stayed they for 3-4 hours. ! I haven't seen such a severe reaction, not even over Christmas. Really took me by surprise and has scared me.

Spent today listening to several speakers on the free Quit Sugar Summit, and the current one is really anti seed oils so maybe it was the frying....
Any way, resolved to get back on a strict track. I have 14lbs to lose and want o do it quickly as slowly doesn't seem to work for me.

On the motorway home I ate my lc supplies, and then skipped breakfast today. Lunch was ham and olives and several tastes of the walnut and mushroom loaf I'm cooking for dinner tonight. Will serve it with cauliflower and maybe celeriac
