OK 40u Tresiba at 04.00 today. Just a couple of cups of broth so far and BG is 4.1. That's marginally down from FBG.

I will be having breakfast shortly of some smoked mackerel and a little salad. Might add a few raspberries.

It might be too hot for a second meal. The promised cooling hasn't arrived yet.

A day that started out as a very lazy day after two days on the bridge, not even a morning swim. Until 3 pm, when my boss called to ask if I could do the bridge tomorrow, please, please, please.
I had planned to clean up the house, get groceries, and cook for 3 days on the bridge tomorrow, and now I suddenly had to do it today. o_O

I had wanted to make a moussaka, but not starting late afternoon and unplanned, so the new plan was meat loaf, two days with cauliflower and grated cheese, two days with tomatoes and mozzarella. Bumped into neighbour Tale in the supermarket and asked him if he was up for a spontaneous bbq tonight. (My dinner plan for today was spareribs, but I don't have the patience for a bbq, he has, and it's rather stupid to eat spareribs from the oven midsummer.)
Nope, he had plans with his girlfriend Astrid.

I got my groceries, cooked cauliflower, made a spicy meatloaf, and then Astrid came in to tell me that Tale is an idiot and of course we'll bbq together. :hilarious:
But they had some work to do first, and did I want to come for a swim after that?

So my lazy day has turned into a frenzy: groceries, unplanned cooking, an upcoming swim and then food in the garden!
I only have to make sure to get in bed at a reasonable time, 4 days of work is a lot, and it will be followed by a busy weekend with Mark coming for a sleepover and Astrids birthday party.

Oh well, life could be worse! :joyful:

It's going to be a busy few days, but have fun and make the most of it.

Change in weather is definitely on way. Very breezy. Expecting 40mph gusts tomorrow so just tied the garden furniture down.
And I'm wearing a jumper! Heatwaves gone.

2 scrambled eggs for breakfast then a day strolling round a NT garden.
Hubby and I shared a ploughman's for lunch. He had the bread, and the sausage rolls and the chutney and the pickled onion and a bit of the cheese. I had most of the cheese and coleslaw and celery and a gherkin.
Eating out low carb would be much more difficult without a sharing partner.
Later we shared an icecream
Dinner was fritatta using up most of what left in the fridge, chorizo, bacon, sausage, courgettes, onion ( and 2 portions left for next 2 breakfasts as we leave here Wednesday)
Served with side salad and a large glass wine

Breakfast: 2 soft(ish) boiled eggs and 2 buttered lentil crackers (4.4 net carbs each).
2nd meal is ready to go: beef and broccoli in an Asian style sauce.

40u of Tresiba today but, so far, no bolus insulin. BG is slightly up from yesterday (5's and 6's) but this is a whole new experience for me.

Neil was going shopping today, but we've realised that I have a dentist appointment tomorrow, so he's putting it off until then. But that's fine - no rush for anything on the list. This is going to be a heavy list because I have been asked to make cupcakes (about 100) for my friend, returning from China for a short visit, with his new wife. They are holding a reception for everyone here to meet his wife. Turns out though, that all the family who travelled from all over the world to go to the wedding, are also travelling again to attend the reception here - from America, Australia, England, Netherlands, other Scottish Islands, Scottish mainland and, I believe, China. Luckily, I'm not the only one preparing food (there's at least one other cupcake maker) and the invading family members are making savoury and sweet dishes. Don't know if I'll manage to get to the reception. By the time I've done all the cupcakes, I'll be dead on my feet.

This one family is going to do the tourist industry good for a few days anyway. They have rented houses, rooms, some are staying with the young man's mother, others have been told to bring tents and camp in the garden.

EDIT: A bit hungry around 2pm so I had 4 strawberries to keep me going. Still no bolus needed although BG did slip up to 6.7 briefly. Back to 5.4 now though.

so the new plan was meat loaf, two days with cauliflower and grated cheese
I didn't even taste my hasty made meatloaf yesterday before packing it to take with me to have on the bridge today.
What a nice surprise, it turned out the best tasting meat loaf I've made so far, even though the spicyness made my eyes water!

If only I knew what I did differently.
My neighbours walked into my kitchen while I was adding spices and condiments to the mix at random without really paying attention because I was caught up in a conversation about swimming and having a barbecue shortly. :hilarious:

I botched the cutting so it looks a mess, which really doesn't matter if it tastes so good!

Cauliflower worked well too, very easy: I cooked it with some salt yesterday and first had the cauliflower have a headstart reheating in the microwave on the bridge before adding grated cheese and adding the meatloaf to my plate. Another two minutes in the microwave and I had a perfect meal!

I spent my 2 hour break (4-6 pm before working another two hours) on a hunt for swimming spots to be useful during my break.
I found two promising spots but discovered I had no swimming suit in my car and too many dog walkers and bicyclists to go without. The goal wasn't swimming today but hunting spots for future use so all fine.
So I went to check out a third spot on a small lake, which is fun because I usually swim in a narow canal. No one there, except for the cars on a very close by motorway, but they should be minding the road, not a swimmer so in I went. :joyful:

Turned out to be a busy place to get small boats in and out of the water, so two boats/five people were right there when I got back and ready to get out of the water... :bag:
I politely told them there was no one around when I got in, this was an unplanned swim no swimsuit available, and could they kindly turn around while I got out. :hilarious:

B: leftover frittata
L: cheese and lc crackers, olives
Midafternoon a nut bar
D : with friends in a pub. Jambalaya with lots of lovely seafood. Did eat the rice. Passed on starter and pudding. Drank one white wine and water, and a Scotch

One friend is T1 who's really struggling with unreliability of Libre. She had been on Dexcom until local health authority went back to libre for cost reasons. She now uses a reader that she places in her clothing so it's always within 5cm of the sensor, but still gets lots of "no signal". Felt so sorry for her, such a worry and nuisance. She's been very creative with how to secure the reader though...wonder how men manage without a bra.?

Nothing really new here just the normal daily routines for me. Food is not realy low carb at the moment. I would say its reduced carbs. I have decided not to worry about the carbs and loosing weight at this point and to deal first with the ibs problems and get some stability there. Sugars are well controlled about 80% in range. Its like I have all the pieces but they belong to different puzzles and don‘t fit together.

Now to something more positive my best friend is getting married next year.:)
And i am looking forward to my holiday in London in September

B: leftover (aka preplanned) frittata. Cwc.
Long drive home.
Broke the journey midway meeting friends. A really quirky place using old railway carriage and old bus as the seating. Food was very good, 1 friend is vegan and he had plenty of choice.
I had chicken with mozzarella and hummus and chimichurri. Very tasty but chicken came fried in a sort of batter. No idea of carbs, probably too many. Drank only iced coffee.
Another 3 hours drive, luckily jam free.

1 lc cracker with cheddar and 2 small tomatoes and 2 glasses white wine with soda. 2 sqs 85% chocolate.

Looking forward to sleeping in my own bed. The last 10 nights weren't very comfortable

My ibs disappeared totally when I went low carb. Wasn't expecting it but was a very welcome suprise. I think it was grains causing it. 5 years ibs free now, it's so freeing.
Hope you find a way to help yours

Aww, it's so sweet of you to translate this!

By the way, a funny fact: there is no equivalent to the word cheers in Russian. We usually express our wishes to those with whom we drink (and indeed it is often "for your health") before clinking glasses or stating the reason why we drink (for example, "for the meeting"). Haha is a complex system of toasts, but not as complicated as in Georgia, for example, where before drinking another glass of wine they tell a short story with a moral

Breakfast: 2 RyVita and cheese. Black coffee X 2.

Out for leg bandaging - what a relief after a whole week without! They were huge, shiny and blistered, looking ready to burst and actually very painful. Felt ready to burst as well. Anyhow, all bandaged up again but looking like elephant legs. They'll improve a bit by next week, and then another lot of bandages will get them back to "normal".

Home for 3/4 hour. BG started to drop below 4 so had one digestive biscuit with another coffee.

Out again for an appointment with the dietician. As expected she was pushing the moderate carb, low fat, low salt thing. The only salt I take really is the pinch I take at her advice. I have been referred to her to be recommended for Mountjaro. Not sure I want to go down that route. As has been clearly demonstrated by my leg incident, much of my weight is fluid. She's going to recommend it anyway to the diabetes clinic and they will decide. She thinks that it is recommended for T2's NOT on insulin, but not for those ON insulin, but she doesn't know much about it anyway. It is up to the nurses at the diabetes clinic to make the actual recommendation. Meantime, I have to try to get an appointment with my doctor to get a blood test done - it is overdue anyway and the dentist yesterday wanted one done as well to check for deficiencies which might be causing mouth problems. Why I have to make the request, I don't know. I would have thought any medical professional would be able to do that.

Back now to a cup of chicken broth but I think 2nd meal will be early - I'm hungry. It will be wedges of white cabbage sauteed with some pork sausage. Haven't done it that way before, but it came to me as an idea and I want to try it. Just need to rest my poor old legs a bit and then I'll put it on to cook.

Is it tasty? I can't imagine mixing weak alcohol with anything.
It depends on your taste and how dilute you make it! Sometimes I just have a splash of water, other times just a splash of wine.

Pubs here serve it as a Spritzer which I think first evolved in Italy. Or as cheaper alternative to Prosecco or Champagne.

As I find the sweeteners in 'diet' drinks horrid, I find this useful to drink when I don't want strong alcohol or plain water, which are my only low carb options.

Sometimes I have been known to refer to it as "wine flavoured water" but its better for me, my bg and my taste buds than any of the commercial, artificial flavoured waters or soft drinks on sale

When I am in the mood for stronger alcohol I do like a neat Scotch or brandy or rum
