"What have you eaten" Parallel Chat

Usual breakfast, beef and noodles (I know, I know, but I seem to have got away with it by keeping moving) for lunch and salad with eggs and chicken liver pate for tea, with home grown pea shoots.

Not much progress but at least I kept moving around today. I planted some tomato seeds, just waiting for the other variety to arrive now. Tomorrow I must plant some more rocket, lettuce and pea shoots.

Breakfast: h/m sausages and fried eggs. Tea.
2nd meal has to be a small box of "pork in gravy" out of the little freezer in Neil's kitchen. Maybe more cabbage to go with it.

I've overdone it a bit already today: trying to sort out my bedroom still but it is slow going. There are bits to be thrown out, bits to go to a charity shop, things to go the DIL, if she wants them. She does a lot of sewing and I'm getting rid of much of my sewing stuff - can't use them any more. I'm keeping the sewing machines for Neil - he's perfectly capable of using them and may need to once I'm not here, so they are back in their cupboard but there are bits of fabric and bits of lace, ribbon and buttons as well as sewing tools, which DIL may want (even an old fashioned darning tool , shaped like a mushroom - anyone remember them from when we used to darn socks?) Really wore my arms and hands out stripping the lining from a set of faded curtains. The lining was still in perfect condition but the grey curtains had developed pink stripes. DIL may be able to use that to line some other curtains. Time to put my feet up and give my arms/hands some TLC.

Yes! We had one painted like a fly agaric mushroom in mum's old sewing box :hilarious:

Ouch, hope that recovers quickly.

I had the usual breakfast, beans and sausages for lunch and tea I think might be fish fingers with salad! I kept moving again today. I'm about to do that planting I promised I'd do today as well.

Usual breakfast, cheese omelette and salad for lunch, tea will be fish cakes and beans. I'm running late because I was up in the night and wide awake, so slept late, breakfast late, lunch late... tea will be in an hour or so.

I'm currently dismantling my old bed frame and hopefully putting up the new one or I'll be sleeping on the spare single bed tonight! This marks the start of my bedroom reset, which will most likely be done in small steps as energy allows.

Fingers crossed you get your new bed set up before bedtime.

It was a bit more of a struggle than I anticipated - I've put together a lot of stuff over the years but sometimes the instructions and process are quirky. I'm just making the bed up now, and then I need a nice shower. I think I might be hurting a bit tomorrow!

Gave up on trying to sleep about 03.00. I had gone through the point of being tired while working on a writing project I am doing and just couldn't doze off.

I've eaten already - a cold sausage and had a cup of tea. That wasn't breakfast. I will have an avocado for breakfast.

There's still that pork in gravy to use for my 2nd meal.

My SIL has been on what sounds to me like a very odd diet - oatmeal porridge 3 meals a day for 2 days, then normal food for the rest of the week. She did lose 2lb but put it back on after 5 days on normal food. I'm not surprised she lost weight on porridge only - there's only so much porridge one can eat. If I were to try that, not only would my BG be sky high, but I would definitely lose weight as my inside refused to accept it.

Got up late again as I was quite tired but surprisingly I'm not hurting at all today. The new bed frame supports my mattress much better and I slept really well.

I had the usual breakfast, cheese omelette and tomatoes for lunch and I'm not sure about tea yet, I'll have a poke around in the freezer.

Ham and soft cheese on crackers for breakfast. Tea as well.

2nd meal will be cabbage and some of the h/m pork sausage.

There is more of the "pork in gravy" in the freezer, but the pack that I opened wasn't very enjoyable so the rest will be binned. There are jars of pickles that I made about a year ago and never wanted to eat so am sorting through those and disposing of them - just taking up space that I can't afford. I'm going to stop bothering with preserving veg - I never eat them these days. Cooking and freezing is all that I'll do with any extra veg in future.

Usual breakfast, a piece of buttered toast for lunch and beans and sausages for tea. A fair bit of other stuff too, so not the best day carb-wise.

I ran some errands in the middle of the day and suddenly for no good reason craved microwave popcorn, so bought some of that and that was part of the not-so-good day!

I want to do some more organising tomorrow. I'm finding it hard to focus on one room, but I really want to get the living room sorted, it's been so long since it was tidy and organised. My "Just get something done even if it's one little thing" approach is helping, but there does need to be a more concentrated effort to finish a room.

Breakfast: buttered walnut pancakes. Tea.
2nd meal will be cauliflower cheese.

I've been a bit dozy this morning. Up at 04.30 after getting to bed about 01.00, so I suppose it's not surprising and, to be honest, not unusual for me. It's fine just sitting dozing in the chair but it makes me feel groggy much of the time and I don't like that feeling. I'll have to move around a bit to try to shake myself awake. Doing this typing is helping a bit already. So will more tea.

I did a bit of tidying, and put out the old metal bed frame for the scrappies to collect, we have a local guy who goes around yelling "Rag-booooone!!" from his pickup. I think Weds is his day, but if not someone will tell him it's there, things always get picked up within a day or two - saves me a trip to the tip.

I had the usual breakfast and then beef and salad for lunch - I bought some packs of sliced beef on offer from the supermarket and froze them - they're coming in very handy. I've also made a big minced beef, swede and carrot stew with my own swede and and the last of the carrots which almost all survived the frosts - there was just the odd squashy one.

What a success the swedes and carrots have been, I wonder if I can repeat that next year? It's not really that they saved me money, in fact they cost quite a bit because I had to buy a lot of stuff last year, but they are sublime in terms of flavour and texture and I can just go into the garden when I need them, instead of fishing tasteless bendy ones from the back of the fridge.

Indoor growing is my latest obsession, as you might have noticed! I'm going to try growing dwarf french beans as houseplants, under growlights. The initial investment of growlights is a bit high but hopefully they will last years, and from my research growing things like dwarf french beans, tomatoes and peppers in the house can be successful. I already have compost, pots and everything else I need this year, so the growlight investment is acceptable.

The most important part of the investment is that it makes you happy, worth more than all the carrots and beans in the world!
