What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

The wreath is lovely @zauberflote not a spider in sight. Hope you had a good Mother’s day. Did everybody else like your 88% chocolate? I find that nobody else likes the dark bitter stuff I eat, my stash is safe ( from everyone except me - I need to hide it from myself sometimes)
The roast cauli sounds good @maglil55 , as does the whole IP cauli that @DCUKMod posted. Agree it would be a good way to use the leftover butter chicken sauce. I don’t know why I’m not fed up with cauliflower or avocado as I have them so often but happily the love affair continues.
There is a place near us that served ‘exotic’ meat with hot slates so you cook your own to the degree of done- ness you like. They have croc there but I’ve never fancied it. Agree that kangaroo is good but other than that I tend to go for the deer/ goat type animals like impala which I’ve enjoyed. Not sure about that goanna though @Tipetoo , looking at it doesn’t make my mouth water.

@zauberflote What a lovely wreath!! The UK Mother's day was 31st March. Goo d idea to share the chocr.

@ianpspurs . I hope your grandson us feeling better. My nephew (now in his late 40s) had it while in Infants and Juniors then grew out of it but he does get the occasional normal migraine now.

@DJC3. We've got a pub in the next village that has an extensive menu of exotic meats and fish. We only went once.... i chose some sort of exotic fish (can't remember what) and the person doing the cooking came out and asked me how to cook it. He said he poaches all fish in milk .... ewwww. Turns out that all this exotic meat and fish gets delivered to him frozen in portions and no instructions on how to cook it.

Today's food....

Breakfast: two egg mayo on crackerbreads
Lunch: Houmous wrapped in romaine leaves
Dinner: the second portion of last night's slow cooked oxtail
Dessert: baked spicy rhubarb with Turkish yoghurt with a tablespoon of chopped Brazil nuts on top
Drinks: BDC, SSW, Schweppes Elderflower Slimline Tonic (SEST?)

@Brunneria glad you're feeling better!
@DCUKMod oh I loooove swordfish!
One of my Mother's Day pesents was a smal bag of Endangered Species 88% chocolate. It has significantly more carbs than my staple Lindt 90%, so I was clever and offered it around for dessert at family lunch. That got rid of most of them. Mom and I ate the few others driving her home.... DIL made Mom and me pretty twig/vine based wreaths with (fake) flowers on them. Since keto spiders would hang out on fairly LC wreaths, I'll post a pic. Maybe Peter Parker (who is that anyway, @maglil55 ?) will emigrate. View attachment 32876
This post first failed to post; sent suggested email re error to Tapatalk. Second try successful. Come back later: duplicate posts! So I removed one from public view. I think I will delete the app and reload it and hard reboot my phone while I'm at it. Sad that Spidey didn't like my twigs....
@zauberflote your spidey senses have failed you if you don't know Peter Parker

For a moment I thought I'd confused it with Peter Brady one of many character names for the invisible man. Regrettably, spidey is still very visible.

@DCUKMod & DJC3 - the cauliflower steaks were indeed very nice and a pleasant change. I have made the whole roast cauliflower before but in the oven and I was not happy with it- way too dry. Will give the IP version a go though as I believe that will work much better.

When I do a whole cauli in the IP, then sitit on a plate, whilst doing other things, even though it will have been cooked on a trivet, out of direct water, I still find it leaks a watery puddle, so for me, I'd like put it in the oven for a whirt while, to dry it a bit, before adding the sauce.

MrB isn't a huge cauli fan, so I may have to save this for next he's off on a golfing jaunt.

Actually, I bet it'd be nice with individual, baby caulies. Hmmmm.

I expect the place I go to has the meat delivered frozen too - no croc or impala farms round here. Maybe its why they give customers hot slates there though - cook it yourself cos the chef doesn’t know how!
My mum used to poach smoked haddock in milk, that was nice but I cant imagine it working for anything else.

What I have eaten today.

Black coffee and a couple pieces chocolate.
Breakfast is 3 eggs and cheese bunged in microwave.

But then I went haywire in eating.
A parcel from Amazon which cannot now be delivered to my collection point because of shorted equipment there, has now been damaged, and so Amazon are sending another one out today but to my home address. But I am profoundly deaf so don't hear doorbell or see it flashing unless I face it, and have mobility problems so don't get there in time. This is why I never accept parcels to my home address. But this was an expensive piece of electrical equipment
So I have sat by the gate, cut down the garden, etc and nibbled chocolate, and I nibbled some pork scratching.

Lunch at noon was chicken and cauliflower and broccoli, but I don't know if it was the sun, but I couldn't eat it. And I have gone off chocolate and pork scratchings.

So sitting by gate again.
Coffee with cream
Then cuppa tea
Then boiled water.

It's 4pm now and no parcel yet

Found an old frozen multivitamin carton juice at back of freezer, so noisily sucking at that. Just looked at carbs label. Whoops. No idea how that is going to affect bg reading. Will check in a couple of hours...

Won't be eating anything else today.

I'm sure this will not surprise you but....

I have a hot stone as well with a raclette under it plus 2 fondues. It's good fun if you have a crowd plus they all have to put their own food together AND cook it! All you have to do is the prep work.
It's actually a very good low carb entertaining meal and the guests don't know it.

Brilliant @Magglil55 ! I should have guessed you’d have one, you have actually made me laugh out loud!
How big is your kitchen? Or are you just very neat and organized?

How frustrating for you. Can you check the tracking online? I usually get texts from Amazon giving me a 1 hr delivery window on the day the parcel is due.
( and currently that is most days - I must stop this Amazon habit)

Edit for typo

OMG - I remember fondue with fond memories (see what I did there) - my sister had one when she was all grown up and married (at age 21) and I was about 14 - I thought it was the height of adult sophistication to cook little bits of steak in oil or dip bread or bits of raw veg in to a cheese mixture. It took me a few meals of it to realise I was always hungry soon after. Can you still get them?

I'm trying to persuade Mr C in to a raclette but he's fretting already about the cupboards full of kitchen equipment that I don't use any more.

Ive finished eating for today ( hopefully) so an early post.
B: 1/2 avocado and 1 scrambled egg on a flaxseed bun. CWC
Late lunch: 2 cheese pesto chicken ( think this was posted here by @DCUKMod ) with green beans and mushrooms. Very quick to put together and tasty. Similar to ghe DD version but cheesier. Sf jelly and Gk yog.
Off to yoga in a bit so no more food beforehand and it’ll be too late afterwards ( plus it’s GOT tonight and don’t want to be faffing in the kitchen still)
Few cups of HC teaolat - thanks to @Goonergal giving me some of the precious tea bags.

It's a lot bigger than it was but not as big as I'd like it to be! I wish I could have transplanted our kitchen from our last Edinburgh flat into this house. It was massive! We lowered the ceiling with beams, had a dining area, pull out ironing board, pop up cantilever shelf with my mixer on it and the most massive walk in shelved cupboard - it was like a mini mart. We bought this one for the location and reserved the biggest we could get with the biggest plot as it was always the intention to extend. What was our original kitchen is now a run of concealed storage and a whole new kitchen was added on. And it still isn't big enough!

You can indeed still get fondue sets. In fact you can buy fondue combined with raclette. Or you can go way over the top and buy separate fondue for cheese, oil and chocolate. Amazon (look away DJC3) has loads.

I just get a notification that the Amazon parcel is out to be delivered and then a little blue line. When the little blue line gets close to me, there is an option to see a google map which tells me driver is up to 10 stops away. So my eyes are glued to google maps then.

So, I am looking every half hour or so at the main blue line during the day to see where it is.

This is why I preferred my Collection point at that Post Office. It is on route of my car journeys. I can park right outside. So much less hassle. But the post lady (the shop sells food and newspapers as well) tells me she is not sure if the management are going to repair those machines and might give up on the post office side of business :((

There are other collection points but none which have car parking right besides.

Yeah, like you I ordered most days, but it went to that Post Office. It was so easy and stressless.

I am running out of Montezuma chocolate and some other stuff. It is in my Amazon order basket, but unless that Post Office repairs its stuff and gets up and running again, I will be looking for other options now instead of using Amazon....probably using my car and driving more. Just googled and found an interesting organic shop not far open 4 days a week...

Oh dear @gennepher you are not well served by these companies. Re Amazon would it work if you instructed them to leave it by the gate of your property..if you know its coming a particular day then its unlikely to be snatched. Sending hugs.

Hi
Thanks for hugs. They are welcomed.
I have given them instructions to leave stuff by back door, that is on my Amazon file. But this replacement one (with all the initial collection point shenanigans, needed a signature).

I won’t be ordering for a bit. Might try some organic shops and other places instead...

Thank you

I love raclette. We invited all the local family for my last birthday.

Do you have a neighbour who is at home too? Or can you tell them online to leave the parcel somewhere around outside your home?

Back to normal eating today where I actually have to make the food I eat!
Breakfast was coffee with cream as usual
Dinner - Pate and salad
Tea was burgers cabbage and cheese
Sorry my northern - ness coming out there my father tells me often that a !I'd day meal is lunch not dinner. How come we always stayed for school dinners then and they were supervised by dinner ladies?
