What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

They did the same with me when I was first diagnosed. 2 x 500 followed by 2 x 1000 3 months later. Once I got into low carbing they eventually reduced me back to 2 x 500mg and they halved my BP meds.

I'm convinced it's the NHS recommended route to start you on 2 x 500 to make sure you don't have side effects with metformin (some people do). Keep an eye on your BGs and if they come down speak to them about reducing the dose.

Life is a bit easier now. When I was first diagnosed the NHS was very anti low carb. That eat well plate with the high percentage of carbs will haunt me for years!

I put curry powder or paste through my kedgeree. Haven't made it for ages though.

It definitely isn't a meal for 6 but it is very good. I haven't seen it for a while and suspect it's a seasonal one. I reckon it would feed 3 people.

Wednesday 11 January - bed 7.7 FBG 7.2. It was the turn of eldest grandson to have a strike day. Senior schools closed; Primary are back. At least I didn't have to leave quite as early as Primary goes in 30 mins later than the seniors.

B TAG and? On return from school run? A SLC sandwich with lettuce, tomatoes, prawns and Marie Rose.

L. 2 slices of lightly toasted; SLC fruit loaf with butter. Ir's lovely.

D. 2 egg omelette with santini tomatoes, pancetta, mushrooms, peas. CC little chocolate pot.

Cow's milk sends me through the roof (and I loved a glass of cold milk). I'm fine with Alpro sugar free coconut milk.
I'll ask Neil to get some next shopping day and try it. Pity I can't stand soya milk, he's got quite a production line going in that.

That's what I did - always used to do that when using rice for kedgeree.

Thursday 12 January - I omitted to add I had 2 Bendicks mints yesterday. I won't do that again! Bed 10.6 FBG had dropped to 7.9. I thought 2 mints wouldn't do too much damage.I was a bit wrong!

B. TAG and after school runs and some shopping a SLC sandwich with the rest of the prawns, lettuce and tomato.

L. Nothing

D. One of the new SLC seeded rolls with a burger, 2 slices of jarlsburg, lettuce and tomato. CC little chocolate pot.

@DJC3 - The new SLC seeded roll is a huge improvement on the previous roll. The other roll I find too big and "doughy". I could never finish one. This one is a much better texture and I finished it (although I still wish they would make them smaller). Very tasty though.

11:00 a cold 97%sausage with brie on hm seedy crackers. A nut bar

Tried going to big Tescos in the hope I could try on clothes, but no the changing rooms still locked and no staff anywhere. Couldn't find what I wanted so ended up with jeans and a reduced top.

Did find their own label seed bars at only £1.30 for 4, and 7g carbs . Very filling and although there's small amounts of sugar and seed oil they are the cheapest and most filling I've found. Handy to have.

D: salmon with sprouts and carrots. Made a sort of sauce out of an avocado, lots of lemon juice, splash of olive oil and some hm lc yoghurt. Very tasty and plenty for the 3 of us.
A Scotch.

Reading @Riva_Roxaban nightly single malt reminds me I hoped for decent Scotch or rum for Xmas, but none materialised.Memo to self to buy my own.

Thank you, I might get a pack when I’ve finished my current stock, although I never have a problem finishing the original ones - I like the fact they’re big!
I think you said the fruit loaf was good too?

Third day of a creamy cabbage dish with blue cheese and merquez lamb sausages.
Had been really looking forward to the merquez I bought in Amsterdam a couple of weeks ago but I don't like the taste at all, nothing like the merquez I bought when I lived in Amsterdam.
Still, it's good meat so I ate it.

There's still enough left for another day but three days of sausages you don't like is enough! Tomorrow I'll have some very happy dogs and cats, and eat a burger with the last of the cabbage myself.

I got a bottle of my favourite Laphroaig from my partner. I got her a collectors bottle of the top shelf spiced rum from the local rum distilery it was a limited edition only 1000 bottles were produced.

I get a bottle of good stuff on fathers day, but I usually buy my own.

The fruit loaf is lovely. I was always fond of toasted fruit loaf with butter. This soooo meets that love. Watch as it toasts quickly though.

Three egg and cheese omelette for breakfast.
Braised y bone steak and onions, green veggies for lunch.
Toated ham and cheese sandwiches for supper at six.

Glass of single malt before a early night.

Go for my blood and iron trans / infusions next Tuesday, so that should perk me up a bit hopefully.

I was about to ask Neil to look for the seed bars but the website says each bar contains 10.7 g carb. A bit too high for me. There is another one - pumpkin seed, almond and dark chocolate. It is 7.4 g carb per bar. Not quite so bad. Maybe get Neil to look for those and try them.
Hope you feel better after the treatment next Tuesday.

Yes, those are the ones I saw and bought.
I didn’t realise there were others. Are they the same thing just a different flavour?

I have tried cauliflower rice numerous times and I can't say that I like it . Has you say it has a distinctive taste the only way it is tolerable is if I mix it with a little bit of ordinary rice .

looks lush yum yum .
