I blanch them, remove their skin, then finish off with gently fried chopped spring onion, pancetta and some veggie stock.Someone sold broad beans from their garden on the roadside today.I absolutely love fresh broadbeans so I feel very lucky!
Please tell me your favourite way to eat them.
I guess God willing was wrong. BG started to rise and I started to feel ill again. Went to bed and woke up just after 6 pm. Took the liver out of the fridge to find it was 3 days past its use by date. I put it in the bin. So - no meal after all. I didn't want it anyway. A cup of warm water and then a cup of tea and that's enough for tonight. What happened was that BG started to drop too far again, despite only a tiny amount of insulin. About 1 pm had peanut butter on buttered wholemeal bread. Probably about 30 g carbs. Keeping an eye on it but it might have stabilised at 6.0.
Started the veg to go with the liver so I might get around to cooking about 6 pm - "God willing", as they say.
What kind of course? I hope it's an interesting one!I started a 12 week evening course today, so quick and easy ‘dinner’!
Yes, carbonated is a good idea, as is the gin! I always used to have a J2O but that’s a bit of a no no nowHi Grace welcome to our cosy thread. I occasionally drink Diet Coke or Coke Zero when out but my usual drink is water or carbonated water sometimes with gin
Really? It's just water coloured and sweetened with all sorts of processed rubbish. There are thousands of people who find it addictive and really struggle to wean themselves off it. it also rots teeth, so dentists say. If you've stayed off so far, steer clear, imhoI noticed you drink diet coke it’s not something I’ve ever drank but I noticed the other day (when looking for ideas of things to drink) that it seems to be zero everything. So I think I might give it a go.
I’ve al thought it wasn’t good for teeth so, as you suggest, I’ll probably stay clear.Really? It's just water coloured and sweetened with all sorts of processed rubbish. Oh, I also find it bloats me and give me bad burps.
Only good thing I see in it is it tastes nice with rum
Glad to hear you are feeling better Rosemary. Enjoy your lunch and your visitors.Morning all. Nice to be able to join in again after being ill. My son is here and my half-son (son of my former Dutch husband} so am out for lunch. I'll have to report on my food later or tomorrow but I just had to say hello to everyone. Have a good day folks
Yay!! Crispy skin! Are you eating it, though?Another busy morning with granddaughters school run then long dog walk. Finished with coffee in the cafe at the end of the walk and treated myself to a dollop of clotted cream in it (Normally added to a cream tea)
Lunch was chicken breast, salad of leaves, avocado and radishes. H/m mayo. Couple of squares of DGF chilli chocolate. ( my favourite so far)
D- Haddock with grilled Halloumi and steamed broccoli, h/m mayo with lemon pepper. @maglil55 I’ve finally managed the crispy skin, thanks for your patience! And I’m so pleased your eyes have finished marinating. That’s a great result. View attachment 62062
We've just done a stock take on our Craft Gin collection. I currently have 10 bottles! Is that a reason to have more gin?Yes, carbonated is a good idea, as is the gin! I always used to have a J2O but that’s a bit of a no no now
I am convinced you should write a book on your BGs @Annb. They are certainly a mystery that defies all logic.Had brunch about 11 am. Rib-eye steak, onion/tomato/apricot something or other (fairly finely chopped onion, tomato and an apricot from the punnet someone bought for me a few days ago, fried in butter). Steak was a bit on the thin side so I just seared it for about 2 minutes on one side and less than a minute on the other and finished with butter. Early enough in the day to enjoy what should be my only meal of the day.
BG still a bit high despite the 15u of Humalog I took before eating. Guess 15u wasn't really enough, although 10u was too much to deal with the omelette yesterday. Odd!
It’s a ‘healthy lifestyle’ course. I'm interested in the sessions about the psychology of eating and comfort eating, having put on weight over the last couple of years since Mum and Dad died. I have to suffer hearing all about the eat well plate first though! What kind of course? I hope it's an interesting one!
