Late morning: black coffee and a carb killa bar.
Skipped lunch.
Mid afternoon: black coffee and another carb killa bar.
Dinner: chilli con carne with cauliflower rice.

Apart from the taste and texture, I like to think that the fish I eat has been swimming in the sea and enjoying its life, rather than being crammed into an underwater cage with thousands of other fish. I have some frozen salmon which is supposedly wild caught, but I'm not sure I trust that. Is our food natural any more?

I've always eaten salmon (I love tinned red salmon) but I eat more beef than I used to. I try to get grass-fed beef, but am not always successful. Unfortunately, following my type 2 diagnosis in 2003, I found it impossible to control my blood glucose levels without introducing more protein. Since we didn't want to revert to eating meat, my solution was to introduce fish and seafood, much of which is farmed.
Me too @jpscloud, especially when going out to dinner. Generally speaking though, wild caught fish has a firmer texture than farmed produce.I'm becoming more and more suspicious these days!

I expect it was the exceptionally warm, wet weather that encouraged the blight @jpscloud.I heard it was a really bad year for blight last year as well - hope we have better fortunes this year! I seem to be very lucky with birds and spiders in my garden, pests rarely get a hold (except those pesky snails and slugs grrrrrr). I think I may qualify for a national collection of spiders - good thing I like them!

Neighbour wasn't home, and I hadn't really planned anything else, so I tried my luck with that pesky schnitzel after all.Well, tht went downhill (or rather uphill) pretty fast.
Went from 4.8 to 8.0 (fingerprick) in less than 40 minutes, straight arrow up on my Libre.
Straight arrows up aren't good for my mood, and nor is seeing an 8 when I know I'm still rising. (Unless on special occasions. A cheap schnitzel is definitely not a special occasion, even though it tasted really good.)
I added a rage bolus of 5 units (don't try this at home, definitely not recommended to add more insulin this soon after your last dose!), and I'll see if my neighbour wants to eat a schnitzel tomorrow.
Back to normal tomorrow, this dosing for higher carb foods clearly isn't my thing. Still, nothing wrong with giving it a try every once in a while!

This time I scraped off a little more of the breading and added the leftover crushed pork scratchings I used at some point last week. I had no idea I didn't throw them away, but no reason not to use it now I accidentally found it.
I also used a very daring prebolus of an hour and 20 minutes, and a larger dose of insulin than yesterday. (Again, don't try this at home folks!)
Symptoms say I must have dipped just below 4 for a very short while right after eating, a fingerprick just now told me I'm safely at 4.5, half an hour after eating.
I'm optimistic!

@Rachox, I got two the same, but instead of sauces, I had 50 points for spending £3 on avocados.
I sleep really badly anyway, but I've had two nights of no sleep at all, fatigue caught up with me, so ended up nearly a couple of hours soundo this afternoon. Luckily, I had planned & made a simple dinner of egg mayo to go in lettuce wraps, so was ready when I got up. Had some nuts & cheese this evening, as started getting peckish.
That's what I did yesterday. It wasn't planned - I just got diverted before I managed to have the spiced chicken and pease pudding. Pease pudding does contain carbs, but not too many I thought but took a slightly larger dose of insulin to make sure. Then I didn't eat for another hour. Had to eat when BG dropped into the 3's but after another date to stop the drop. Then, of course, after eating BG shot up to 10.4. I left it to sort itself out. Still a bit high this morning (0400) but not alarmingly so (for me).It worked!
Steady 5's and 6's since.
Still, I'm not up to playing the prebolus timing gambling game on a regular base, it's too complicated and has a high risk of going hypo right when the food is in front of you or halfway through cooking. So back to normal tomorrow, I just checked the supermarket offers and they have all the things I like on offer this week.
Safe journey home sounds like some good planning of travelling food - much needed though for airports.Last full day in our winter home. Will be sad to leave, it has been lovely but it will also be good to get back to real life.
Breakfast was a real treat, BLT Benedict from a beach restaurent. In this case the L stands for lobster. Had mine without what they call “ English muffin.”
Lunch didn’t really happen after the late BLT. Then played pickleball for a couple of hours.
Dinner slow cooked pork ribs ( from grocery store), tomato, cheese and pork rinds.
The last few days of eating the remnants of the fridge doesn’t sound very nutritious. Will need to get back on sensible planned meals when we get home.
Most of tomorrow will be in airports and on flights followed by a hotel night before continuing on to home on Wednesday so I have some hard boiled eggs, zucchini bread and low carb protein bars to carry with me for the airports.

Listening to your body is generally a good thing. Not that I'd advocate it, but there was this bloke who fasted for over a year and lived (and lost a lot of weight). Plus think of the money you'd save!So I got thinking, maybe I don't need to try that after all, and maybe having no appetite is a good thing, maybe I'm eating out of conditioning and habit. So wondering what's the panic in my head about that, it was starting to bother me I hadn't ate, but didn't feel the need to eat. I suppose I've got enough stored energy around my body I could probably not eat for months (if I had to.)
