What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Well yesterdays excellent numbers and good behaviour ( food wise) rewards me with a higher than normal 7.1 start to the day
So today
B: Strawbs and Yoghurt
L: A smoked mackeral pate made with avocado and cream cheese with salad
D: Rump steak and salad with some wine
S: Almonds

There will be more wine later (and cheese and celery)

B Fried egg & tomato, home-made biscuity thing (linseed & almond flour, cream cheese, cheddar, egg, chopped spring onion & salami)
L More biscuit with fennel-flavour lamb dripping
D Chicken breast wrapped in bacon baked in remaining dripping with sundry veg, plus steamed green veg.
All a bit odd but extremely nice.

Today ended up as:

25g macadamia nuts plus 2 Babybels

Gammon and egg (2) plus salad (came dressed but very vinegary and BG OK after)

Lidl roll with Olivio spread plus ham and Stilton

10g pumpkin seeds planned as snack

One teaspoon of cream and mini babybel just after getting up to try and prevent pre-breakfast rise. Didn't work - up from 5.7 to 7 and stayed there before dropping to 5.1 before lunch.

Breakfast - 2 boiled eggs, 20g cheese

Lunch - regular Friday visit to Nando's; 5 plain wings with salad

Dinner - home made burgers with feta, onion, spinach and tomato; cabbage and broccoli with a bit of butter

Hi all

B: no breakfast
L: out in a cafe. They have an excellent range of gluten free options, and i chose belly pork with dauphinoise potatoes and green beans. It was served with half a caramelised apple. And it was GORGEOUS! I managed not to eat all the potato, but it took an astonishing amount of self control. Being 'posh' the portions were small, and bg remained under 7.5. :D
D: diet doc pork shoulder steak and cabbage casserole - which is much better than it sounds.

A better day today. Still taking paracetamol but BG returning to normal service. Bed on 6.4 FBG 7.1 but hit 8.8 pre breakfast. Not bothered though as 8.8 is a lot better than yesterday's 10.2 plus post aqua/swimming I was down to 5.7 and hung about the 5's most of the day.
B. Iceberg lettuce, Slice roast pork, 3 cherry tomatoes, helmanns , 1/2 avocado, boiled egg. Tassimo morning coffee.
L. Cup of vegetable bouillon, 2 Walnuts
D. Prawn salad with iceberg lettuce, cherry tomatoes, 1/2 avocado, radish, Murcia al vino cheese and helmanns oh and a boiled egg.

An interesting day -

25g macadamia nuts and 2x Babybel at 7am

2 boiled eggs at 9am

12noon: 2 cherry tomatoes and 6 pieces of cheese at a retirement flats open house (with parents)

2pm Lidl roll with cheese and ham

Plan is turkey crown with mixed veg and as little roast sweet potato as I can get away with followed by strawberries (again as few as politely possible

BG been pretty good although still running high

Morning. Just coffee
Lunch. Home made soup and a chicken roll cup tea
Evening Meal. Steak mushrooms cauliflower rice cooked in butter green beans cup tea
Weekend treat slice of cheesecake with 2 tablespoons cream
Three more drinks coffee and tea in day
BG this morning was 6.1

This has been a good day. Still taking paracetamol but not as achy. Best numbers for a few days. Bed 6.3 FBG 6.7 Pre breakfast amazingly 7.2. Headed off to swimming with No 1 which returned me to 6.3 and 1 hour later I was 5.2. Bounced around 5.2 since then. Libre 3 is showing a remarkably stable track and that I've been in target 100% today.
B. Cold boiled egg with 2 teaspoons of Helmanns and 1/2 cup shredded lettuce.
L. 2 walnuts and a Tassimo morning coffee with cream
D. Finished 30 mins ago and I can still taste it!
Rib eye steak with a Portobello mushroom a little salad of iceberg lettuce and tomato and celeriac chips done in the oven with garlic salt and hot paprika. Yum
I've boiled a few eggs which Hubby kindly shelled and I have them in the fridge for a quick grab and go breakfast. I actually have a 'day off' Monday as son is at home with the boys.

@maglil55 thank you for the information. They do sound tasty but your right about the carbs. 67g in a 100g ! Such a shame , but thank you for the thought :)

I've had an eating day today.
B. Raspberries and yoghurt

L. Roast turkey, carrots, swede, cabbage, gravy, and cauliflower cheese.

D. 2 popadoms, prawn tikka with salad. Tikka tikka tandoori special with salad but I succumbed to half a paratha. Naughty.

Incredible figures for me - bed 5.2 FBG 5.8 pre breakfast 6.1! Yes you are seeing right. Last night's rib eye and celeriac chips was followed by a fall to 4.8 and I've been lurking in the 5's all night. Finally worked out what today's family dinner will be
B. One of my boiled egg stock with lettuce, 3 Vittoria tomatoes, slice of roast pork and the obligatory Helmanns. Tassimo morning coffee with cream.
L. Nothing
D. Antipasto Selection - I have salami with black truffle, mortadella, Parma ham, pickled Italian wild mushrooms, roasted pickled peppers, mozzarella and my sister's home made chicken liver pate. Also smoked salmon , prawns with Marie rose sauce and smoked mackerel with a pepper coat. Not eating it all but I have to provide a wide selection to cover the likes and dislikes.
Main has to be something light so doing pan fried sea bass with sizzling ginger, spring onion and chilli. The carb eaters will have Singapore noodles and beansprouts and I'll have courgetti and beansprouts. Served with cavalo Nero mixed with Savoy cabbage and panchetta stir fried with soy and garlic. May also add some lemon zest to it.
Finally , following the success of the lemon cloud tart last week , this week I am feeding them Diet Doctor dark chocolate cake with raspberries and cream. I may lace it with a little Tia Maria.

And of course my Sunday prosecco and Campari and soda.

@maglil55 those recipes look great. Especially the chocolate cake.
I try really hard on a Sunday to avoid cooking numerous different meals. Hubby is the fussiest as I am sure he considers low carbers as some strange cult. However, he is slowly coming around to the alternatives. I cannot see him finding anything weird with the dark chocolate cake and the fact that the sea bass comes from Good Food the 2g of carbs will be lost on him. Only different thing I am doing today is Stir fried Singapore noodles for the carb eaters.

I must be lucky - Mr Chook is enjoying low carbing / Paleo - its a sort of made up diet of his own cherry picking the best of all ways of eating.

Yesterday:

Breakfast: Toby Carvery all you can eat breakfast. Sausages, bacon, fried eggs, tomatoes, mushrooms, spoon of baked beans. Oh, how I miss baked beans....
Lunch: Little carton of raspberries while wandering around the market
Dinner: Delicatessen meats, cheeses, various pickles and preserved veggies. Lidl protein rolls. Taramasalata.
Supper: More raspberries..... then the thing that completely pushed my BG up ..... Lidl Florentines!! Two of them!!! I went from 4.9 (after the raspberries) to 7.8 (before bed) :arghh::woot::rolleyes:o_O

Today:
Breakfast: Chipolatas, bacon, eggs, mushrooms, grilled tomato (the dogs had my share of the baked beans)
Lunch: Nothing
Dinner: Roast Chicken, Mr C's homemade sausagemeat with sage and red onion stuffing balls, roast parsnips, some of those little tiny carrots (Chanteney?), cauliflower, broccoli, runner beans and h/m sugarfree cranberry sauce.

Looks like I'm going to be fasting on Tuesday and Wednesday of next week because Mr C is home for dinner on Thursday and Friday (the days I'd originally planned) and its pointless trying to fast when he's at home.
