What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Hi, well the promised torrential rain was no more than a light drizzle, still feels very warm but there has been a breeze, very grey and overcast all day with rain forecast for tomorrow too.
Woke with slightly higher number than of recent days and BG hasn’t dropped very much throughout the day!
B omelette with cheese and spring onion, coffee with cream
L 3 goats in blankets, cucumber, tomatoes, radish, mint and cucumber raita dip
Attempted to go for my lunchtime walk but was accosted by my previous team members, we went for a lunchtime catch up at a local pub, ordered a Diet Coke, however, it tasted much sweeter than I remember, hopefully I wasn’t poisoned by carbs and it was just my tastebuds
Not eaten yet as I’ve been catching up on housework as the evening is cooler, just hope I’m rewarded with a lower reading later

We had a lovely downpour too, still grey and quite a lot cooler with the windows open.
B: scrambled egg, smoked salmon, avocado and coffee with 2 teasp cream.

Went to my rehab gym class then the Macmillan nurse gave me a lift back to the hospital to drop off the heart monitor - walked home from hosp and met Mr C for lunch in our local bar. I probably should have popped home for a shower first but they stop serving at 2 and we only just got there in time. Nobody complained - hope I didn’t asphyxiate anyone.

L: Hot smoked salmon nicoise with the fabulous crispy soft boiled egg. I was so exited about having the egg again I forgot to ask for no honey/ mustard dressing. The salad was drenched in it sadly, but couldn’t do much about it so tucked in regardless, had one of the small new potatoes too. 2hr bg 6.2 so not too bad ( don’t know what pre reading was as I didn’t have my monitor on me)
D: Plate of cheeses, olives and walnuts with a jolly nice shiraz. My favourite sort of meal.

Has anyone got a clear enough sky to see the blood moon tonight? Its all cloudy here still

Breakfast: my usual low carb coconut ‘porridge’ with strawberries and cream washed down with a black coffee.
Lunch: small portion of broccoli and cauliflower cheese with peas and sweetcorn followed by Greek yoghurt and raspberries.
Mid afternoon: raspberry chia pudding with a black coffee.
Dinner: lemon and garlic chicken, pork scratchings, coleslaw and cauliflower and broccoli salad followed by chocolate hazelnut Oppo with strawberries and a spoonful of LC chocolate granola.

This brought back a memory of No 1 grandson in P1 where they were having a little event during the day for the children to show off what they do. Mum & Dad arranged for me to go (they always attend parents evenings together) but this one they couldn't do. Anyway, I went in and he came running over, flung his arms around my legs and said Thank you for coming Nana. I didn't want to be someone with nobody here.
The importance to the children was illustrated when they were let out 45 mins later to be collected by parents who could have attended. One little girl sticks in my mind when she looked at her mother and asked (with a tear stained face) why didn't you come to see what we do? She got the response that she couldn't be bothered because it didn't matter.
Sadly, she didn't recognise it did matter to that little one.

Oh good heavens! That is so terribly sad.

Bed 4.9 FBG 4.3. That was a very stable night despite the heat. We had a thunderstorm last night but it didn't clear the air and we only got one downpour. The sun soon dried it up again.
No 1 decided he wanted to go swimming which I was glad of. Coolest I've felt in days. No 2 is hanging onto his pennies like grim death. Actually had a 30 min conversation with them while waiting for Dad without them trying to kill each other. The conversation was about Australian spiders of all things! (Follow on from yesterday's outing). No breathing out yet but we were up to 5.30pm without the loss of a penny.
B. Tassimo Americano grande with a dash of cream and after No 1 decided to go swimming has 1/2 Mattesons smoked sausage as well.
L. Just a lot of water. At swimming.
D. After dropping boys off with Dad Hubby decided he wanted a donner kebab. I was going to make something for myself until it dawned on me I could have a mixed lamb/chicken shish kebab with the salad and Hubby could have the pitta. Boy I enjoyed it. Veggies on the shish were fine for me too, mushroom, peppers and onion. Salad of shredded cabbage , lettuce, onion and a little pickled red cabbage.
@Kingmidas - had a scoop of Halo Top Birthday cake to follow. Like that too - cake ice cream! What did we ever do without Halo Top.
I've done an online shop so I don't have to venture out tomorrow. Really need to make an impression on my latest house reorganisation. Tomorrow could be the day if we get rain.

Got to meet the baby this evening after journey across fens in thunder and lightning. First 2 roads we took were blocked by fallen trees and accidents. Fortunately, one road is about 15 miles long and dotted with farms all having the kind of machinery to move trees so we got through. Power cables down and all sorts but I have held her ladyship. Menu below:

7.30-9.00 3 pint mugs tea with almond milk
10.30 BG @ 5.9 so hammered the exercise bike for 36 mins in frustration - 122 bpm average still feeling frustrated as I now think I could have pushed harder and returned to normal pulse faster
12.20 Vente filter coffee with whole milk, 2 tsps inulin and 3 x zero stevia
13.30: Lo dough wrap with corned beef and as much salad as Mrs P could fit and h/m garlic mayo; finished the small piece of Bishop Cropwell leftover
15.45 h/m high fibre choc bar and trial of Breyers Creamy Chocolate - liked that as well; possibly comfort/strop eating as didn’t think lunch was worth 5.1 at 2 hrs
17.30- 18.25 Iced filter coffee with whole milk driving across fens in thunderstorm with trees falling across roads

Theoretically, the Brecon Beacons SHOULD be one of the best places to see it, but unfortunately (or fortunately if you're a farmer) we've had a fair drop of the old wet throughout most of today and we still have 8/8 cloud cover with sporadic rain showers.

Bet she was worth that horrible sounding drive.

Bet she was worth that horrible sounding drive.
To be fair she is like the other 2 so far I get no big personal attachment (obvious brute biological one) for 2-3 months until I kinda see who they are. She looks remarkably like her big brother but until she gets a name and some unique traits I am semi detached.

@Rachox hiya. I could probably find it if I scrolled down 20 pages lol but what’s in your coconut porridge please?
Thanks

Mona

Bed 5.6 FBG 5.3 considering I had Halo Top late on I'm happy with that. Getting the occasional shower today which is nice. So far this morning I've got 2 lots of washing done and dried before the rain. Been to Tesco to get the few bits and bobs that I couldn't get online. Cleared the fridge and the freezer, cleaned and reorganised them. Took delivery of my online shop and it's all away in my newly cleaned fridge freezer. Now having brunch.
B. Nothing
L. Lo dough heated for 5 mins in Oven then covered in pate. It's not toast but acceptable. It should have been Hovis low carb but Sainsbury's thought Hovis multi seeded was the same so back it went.
Tassimo Americano Grande with a dash of cream.
D. Will be slice each rare roast beef, turkey, ox tongue and pork. Few sweet potato chips, tomato, lettuce, cucumber, beetroot , boiled egg and Helmanns.
I suspect I will fall foul of Halo Top again. Must try the new red velvet.
Curious yesterday too. As I mentioned I had that mixed kebab and salad which I really enjoyed and didn t affect the BGs. Why later then did I have a taste in my mouth as if I'd eaten a pizza? Weird?
