What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Hello everyone.
Really odd mixture of food today as I was experimenting.
B. Raspberries with cream

L. Meat from bacon rib and coyo yoghurt. First time I'd had one and I thought it delicious

D. Spoonful guacamole, spoonful crunchy no added sugar peanut butter, 2 slices of bfree wheat and gluten free bread. 10g of carb per slice . I don't know yet what effect this will have on my bs.

We've been away for a few days, and with my Trusty Libre, it has been both a revelation and an education.
We were self catering in the Yorkshire Dales, which basically meant a cooked breakfast at home or in a dog friendly cafe, and a big meal (bought ready meal) done in the oven in the evening.

Not ideal, but you can get some great low carb ready meals, if you accept that 'processed food' is the lesser of a number of evils (like washing up, and dirtying the hob, and stuff), while on hol ;) !

Anyway, the education:
Hill walking has a profound effect on dropping my bg, like a stone, but without hypos. Keeps my bg flatlining in the low 5s for about 8 hours after the end of the walk, so long as I don't eat carbs. Felt great.
- unfortunately, this is a level of exercise that will never happen at home, and would be unsustainable anyway. Walking up and down hills and rabidly exercising as a life choice is never going to fit in my life. Fun on hol though.

The revelation:
On the last morning, we packed and left, heading for a dog-friendly cafe for breakfast.
Turned out to be a very green, organic, veggie, wholegrain sort of place. My heart sank.
All breakfast options were horrifically high carb.
There was one meat-like option called "BACON" but it had certainly never been anywhere near a pig.
So I chose brown toast with peanut butter as the least awful option.
(Mr B had porridge with sweetened berries followed by toast and jam)

It was like being forcibly submerged in an alternate universe, where high carb wholegrains and low fat are a mantra.
Weird, eh? ;)
They couldn't even offer cream in the coffee!

Needless to say, the bread was divine. 2x inch thich doorsteps, chewy, still warm and soft. Exquisitely crisp on outside. From Organic Bakery 2 doors down the street. Good ramikin dish of crunchy peanut butter, and two tiny tiny tiny pats of butter.

I ate all the butter and PB on one of the doorsteps, while Mr B polished off the other naked doorstep. Honestly, it was like watching Sally in When Harry Met Sally orgasming in that cafe, to watch him eat that bread. Poor man. The suffering he endures by living in a LC household.

Anyway, where was I? Ah yes. My bg.
It flatlined. sat at 6.3ish. Steady as a rock for about 6 hours.
Could have been the hill walking the day before.
Could have been the fat in the PB
Could have been the shock of real bread.
Could have been anything!

But it was delightful, and I will never repeat it, for fear of ruining a perfect memory...
