Hello and welcome

Oats can be a bit iffy on low carb although it depends on how low carb you are aiming for.

Are you testing before and after meals to see their effect?

What is sriracha? A food or a typo? :p

I'm not testing yet, although reading on here sounds like something i really ought to start to do, ill bring it up with the nurse when I go in next week.
To be honest i haven't set myself a limit for low carbs, just to try to be as low as poss to start out with, so thinking the likes of eggs would be the better choice in the mornings.
and no haha sriracha is a hot/chili sauce to give the chicken and veg some extra flavour haha.

Where is everybody??? :)

Today (Wednesday) another fasting day.

Back today! Frustrating day with blood sugar. For some reason shot up from 6.3 on waking to 8.7 before breakfast. Haven't seen a number like that in ages - and last night had fish for dinner, which usually results in lower numbers the day after.

Breakfast - crustless quiche

Lunch - tuna mayo with salad

Dinner - steak with cauliflower; sugar free jelly with cream

My 2 day fast 'crashed and burned' at 4pm yesterday. :(

After being at 6.2 for every test for more than a day (at one point I thought there must be something wrong with my strips so started a fresh supply) in the end I decided it was probably this cough pushing it up so just ignored it. Then I started feeling like I had flu and a bit giddy, did a test and BG has dropped to 4.1 in under half an hour. I'm usually okay at 4.1 but the sudden drop is, I think, what made me feel poorly. So I had a couple of boiled eggs and Lidl protein roll soldiers and felt a bit better. An early night helped too.

Today:

Breakfast: Toasted and buttered Lidl protein roll topped with raspberry 'jam' -
frozen raspberries microwaved with sweetener then stirred in to a kind of spreadable sludge, use when cold - it was really nice - I was missing jam and this was nicer than jam!

Lunch: Broccoli and Stilton soup (found in bottom of freezer)

Dinner: (probably) eggs, bacon, chipolatas, mushrooms, grilled tomato

Cheese omelette with mushrooms (what's new :-D)
Smoked salmon, avocado, mushrooms and mayo (again what's new :-) )
Aubergine and mushroom curry with cauli rice

Midnight snack as counting votes will be Lidl roll with cheese and marmite and a couple of Babybel

Touching wood at the moment but my BG certainly seems to be settling down. Bed on 5.6 FBG 6.6 and 7.4 pre breakfast. What was surprising about the pre breakfast rise was that breakfast was pretty late. I deposited the boys at school/pre school , gave son a lift to Costco and back, went to the garden centre for fillers for the tiered planter, went to vote then back home.
B/L Iceberg lettuce, thin slice of ham, 20 g chicken liver pate, 3 Vittoria tomatoes, 4 mozzarella pearls, few fresh anchovies , spoonful of coleslaw and Tassimo morning coffee with cream.
D. Decided on stir fry with tiger prawns, mushroom stir fry veg and Thai red curry sauce with cauliflower rice.
2 squares Lindt 90%.

Breakfast - crustless quiche

Lunch - bit of a drama. Out with work colleagues at a pub where our food was taking an age to arrive. My boss decided she'd had enough so we ended up Deciding we couldn't wait any longer and just left. Had to cobble something together from a very small coop. Ended up with salami, mini babybel and coleslaw.

Dinner - 2 Birds Eye burgers and 2 sausages
