So I had a hard boiled egg for breakfast
Lunch was ( wait for it.......). Half a vanilla fresh cream slice!!! :( girls coffee morning and the first slip up in 6 weeks ..not having any lunch...and tea will be carb free...I could have said no but I didn't ...I'm reckoning on 40 carbs...bet it will kick me out of ketosis. Could kick myself to be honest...I'm an idiot. And it was way too sweet left half of it...off to sit on the naughty step :(

That you didn't really enjoy it probably means you'll be less likely to try again any time too soon. :)

It's done. It's gone. Look forward.

I hated myself for giving in...all I had to do is say actually I can't because of my bg. Very stupid of me. Hey ho. By some small miracle I'm still in serum ketosis. Maybe I have higher tolerance to carbs than 30 gm a day

we all slip up. I think part of the guilt and crossness comes from the feeling that we gave in. I try and plan my slip ups, if that makes sense so I still feel in control. So last night I knew I would be late back and no one would be wanting to wait till I cooked dinner so I planned on having a fish without most of the batter( in fact nearly all of it as it was so sickly) and a few chips. I knew my BS would be higher at bedtime as a result and I scaled back on lunch carbs in readiness- that way I went off piste but in a planned way and I didn't feel like I'd slipped up, lost control or whatever else we beat ourselves up with when are only being human.

Thankyou. That's so sensible too...well I'm cutting bacl today will just have a mushroom and cheese omlette for tea followed by spell on my exercise bike!

B = 2 x Livlife toasted
L = 2 egg omelette with cheese
D = will be fillet steak and salad, restaurant so,will check any dressing.

I don't know if you are prone to hypos?
I am.
And now that I am very low carbing, I only ever get them after upping my carbs...
The old reactive hypoglycaemic seesaw.

If that rings any bells, then I would just up my slow release fat and protein for a day or so... Just to prevent a sudden drop in BG.

I'm probably suggesting you to be unnecessarily cautious, but might be worth bearing in mind. You wouldn't want to start a carby binge on the back of one slip. ;) (Says the voice of experience!)

breakfast turkey rashers, poached egg tin of mushrooms
lunch ham broth and some ham
dinner tandoori chicken salad 1 poppadum
snack cheese and some 75 % chocolate

B: yogurt, raspberries and nuts
L: protein shake, tuna and cheese (had nothing else in the house!)
D: Nando's. Half a chicken with coleslaw and macho peas.

I love Nando's. Great low carb meals in there!

Today I had leftover curry for brekkie with coffee n cream :)
Then, for lunch, a crustless quiche n salad.:)
Evening was meatballs in tomato sauce with sugarsnaps :)

But:
Mr B is currently enjoying a high carb lifestyle. And he bought some weird star shaped cheeselet things, rather like mini cheddars, in a big tube. And I thought I would try 5 of them. Sneaking them in after lunch, knowing that their combined weight could not possible be more than my limit of 5g carbs per meal.

And you know what? The evil, malevolent, daemonic little things have given me carb cravings!!!

How is that even possible?

So, I now have 24 hours of this niggling, gnawing discomfort. Distracting thoughts of food. And a general feeling of discomfort.

That'll teach me.

Til next time

[rant over]

It is possible Brunnaria. That half a cake did it for me in the end. About 9 pm. So so wanted carby something. Managed to resist. But it screwed up my fasting. Woke up to 10.0. So angry with myself. One of the best things for me on lchf is the absence of cravings. Think maybe because I'm so low carbing 20 to 35gm. I'm just more sensitive to them now. I won't be cheating again. I know that. Not yet anyway. I'm wierdly still in ketosis. That's the only saving grace

Meaza yesterday but made base to thick. Tasted like a posh burger. Family loved it but not for me. Grabbed the jalapeño peppers stuffed with cream cheese and breadcrumb coating out freezer. As long as I don't have the dip am fine. 7.5 straight after. 2 squares of dark choccie and 1/2 scoop homemade ice cream as rest of family got in first, grrrr! Will be salmon today.

Set oven to 200 degrees Celsius. Take pack of 500g mince and roll it out thinly or push it out with the back of a spoon to fill a baking tray. Bake in middle of oven. Take out and spread a layer of tomato purée. Then cover with pizza toppings of your choice and bake for further 15 mins. Pizza but with mince base. Needed bigger tin. Probably Swiss roll size. Not big red meat fan. Rest of family loved it. Hubbie wants me to make it again. Am dubious.
Ps still Ioving avatar!:D

:wideyed:

That's less hassle than this, which I made last week.
But... no, I'm not going to join you in your dubiosity - until I've tasted it.

Shucks - another experimental D meal to look forward to!

Will try that one! Thanks! :p

scandi that sounds good - a different way of using mince - thanks!

Brunneria hubby was going to make that pizza for me yesterday but in the end made a concoction of aubergine, tomato, mushroom, courgette and cheese. I will have that pizza one day!

Well, the pilchards had to be used up ... so I googled pilchard curry and took the suitable bits out of several recipes online and the result was fab! Took that not-quite-nice tang out of the fish, or maybe it's the smell of the sauce they can it in.

Anyway you can tailor it to your needs -- I used the tomato sauce since the label said 3.6% carbs. Plus I bashed some cauli in a bag to save grating it all over the kitchen and microwaved it dry with a sprinkle of coriander. Just before serving I used up some leftover yoghurt, lemon slices, lime juice and double cream all poured on top and eaten before something curdled with something else (technical term).
