There was an Italian doctor on the BBC news this evening saying the UK policy in his opinion is a mistake and he fears for Britain, as do I.

However on a bike ride recently I met a friend who read this poem to me, from a safe distance obviously, many have probably already seen this as it went viral, for those that haven't I post it here in the hope it inspires and soothes troubled souls.

And the people stayed home.
And read books and listened, and rested and exercised,
and made art and played games,
and learned new ways of being and were still.
And listened more deeply.
Some meditated, some prayed, some danced.
Some met their shadows.
And the people began to think differently.

And the people healed.
And, in the absence of people living in ignorant, dangerous, mindless and heartless ways the earth began to heal.
A beautiful poem @Muddy Cyclist

@DJC3 If you are reading, I just want to say hi. I know you've been really busy so not asking for a reply, just saying hi. I hope you and your family are well. :)

Hi Saskia and Thank you, how kind of you. I will be back properly in a few weeks I’m sure. I really appreciated the little Schnauzer (with proper ears I’m glad to see)
I’m not up to speed with posts of the last few days on here but I do hope things are progressing well for your move.

Morning everyone .

3.2 @ 6am. Sorted now, I hope.
Anyway 2 awesome stories showing kindness & generosity of spirit - warning prepare to have your heart warmed

A girl I fostered, unofficially, made me almost burst with pride yesterday when my bio-daughter shared Fostergirl’s offer of tins of baby milk, wipes and outgrown clothes FREE - while eBay allowed tins of Aptomil on sale for £300 allegedly. Always will be a sweet girl, I’ll always be proud to know her.

Second one, famous chippy in my town is letting everyone go until this is over. Typical story one would think until you add that until their stock runs out they are feeding their ex-staff and their immediate families dinner Tuesday - Friday. Wonderfully shocking isn’t it? Oh and regulars got the option of paying for their food or putting it in the N I Hospice tin.

So when I can’t breathe,
When time seems to stop
And the world seems unbearable
Full of broken dreams.
Setting my cap lacing my boots.
Off on a mission so full of doubt
Is this life really a miracle?
I just walk, look about.
Kindness is out there,
Hand in hand with fear.
Compassion, it walks with grief.
I know there are heroes,
All around, all the time.
But now these heroes?
I hope the future is theirs,
Shine.

Coffee is brewed, and I’m very tired. Being afraid for the world is too much for me to process, because every time I wake up it’s COVID 19 on top of the usual. But hey, try and smile, I know I’ll keep trying.

Take care

B

Hi All just dipping in with you all. My internet is so unreliable and slow. I can often get in and read your posts but have to wait a long time to be able to reply.
Anyway a few posts I wanted to respond to. @gennepher you sound exhausted and still treating us to lovely flowers, please get a good nights sleep with Popeye same message to SaskiaKC and the KC. @OldButBold please keep making me smile and take care of you. @ianpspurs welcome to Bill & Ben and thanks for the photos. Just gorgeous boys and they will enrich your lives so much. Thank God for all our pets and animals at this time of worry. I am grateful that Mr Fuzz arrived to live in my garden so timely. He was a bit depressed with the weather today but its due to be sunny tomo.
@Muddy Cyclist thank you for the slates, fascinating stuff.
@jjraak you and yours very much on my mind, and all Londoners, take great care.
I hope so much that I can continue to log on here because I know with certainty that I/we will rely on each other in the next few months and I hope you all stay as well as possible. If it comes please God it will be fleeting.
You might all be virtual friends but you are real to me.
I hope you manage to keep logging on, I am sure everyone enjoys your posts and appreciates your interest and concern. I'm finding that my internet is freezing up at times could be a "mouse" issue but suspect it is just contention. Too many people trying to log on at one time. I think you are right about this thread, I think that I shall come to rely on it to keep sane in the coming months. Just want to say I certainly appreciate you all.

A worrying low 5.3 for me and me's this morning. That meter is plotting something.

Well here in Tilehurst it's day 3423 of lock down, my sanity is shot, but that's normal. I'm not allowed out to bark at the postman, shame I'm sure he enjoys it!
I have no idea of your plans, but let's all hope they come to fruition and whatever, I now must go and plan distance carnage with my pals chaos and mayhem across the Internetty thing, if bandwidth allows.
Washed hand and footnote ......just read beards help with protection???

Well 6.1 today. Thought the meter was stuck yesterday, 5.7 or 5.8 every time I measured must admit only remembered to measure 3hrs after supper instead of 2. Looks like another day of higher numbers. May need to do a little bit of exercise today, perish the thought. :nailbiting:

4:30 a.m. I woke up from a dream so real it took me a moment to realize it was a dream. My parents had driven me to the little town where my apartment was ready for me.
Oh, well, better than last night's reality when I started to ask myself why do any of us bother. :(

I'm sure you're right about the slow Internet. They tell us all to stay home but apparently never thought to wonder if the Wi-Fi could handle the load ...

Is everyone else as confused as Mrs MC and I are? We are both 70, active and sociable but have underlying health issues, Mrs MC Polymyalgier and I T2D in remission. We have self isolated, keep social distance, not from one another, family have also decided to protect us and even their friends are offering to shop for us, so all good. BUT there are still questions and pressure from our peers.

1. Should I still Mountain Bike? I need to excersise, can avoid others as it's all on open land not towns or does the self isolation suggested by PM mean I should stay in?
2. Then there is the irresponsibleness of Mountain Biking, if I should fall off I am adding pressure on the NHS.
3. Can we go to the shops or should we be relying on family to do it for us?
4. If we go a walk with our Labrador can we go together or should we go alone? Some EU countries I think have said there dog walkers and excersise must be done singly.
5. Can we go a ride in the VW camper, park in isolated spots and brew a cuppa and enjoy the scenery or is this non essential travel.
6. Friends are still meeting up and getting together and are always hinting we should join them, we don't and are beginning to feel odd. It feels a bit strange not socialising, it's not so much out of fear but out of respect for what we think are Gov guide lines.
7. We don't think our family holiday first week of June in a remote cottage on the Lyn Peninsula will happen, our son, some of our friends and cottage hire web sites don't seem to think there is a problem BUT balance is soon due. If it is allowed should Mrs MC and I go, 12 family members in one cottage, we are not worried but would it be irresponsible based on Gov guidelines for our age group and possible strain on NHS.
8. If we should get C19 do we do the 7/14 day isolation and see how it developed ORdo we straight away phone 111 as vulnerable people? I think we would self isolate but I read somewhere that this group should contact 111.
9. Can we travel the 60 mile round trip to check MILs bungalow in Wolverhampton, insurance states we need to check it weekly and anyway lighttimers need to be changed every now and then. But should we?
10. Mrs MC still needs to take care of her horse every day and wants to. Involves seeing people, she social distances, wears disposable gloves but there are Police OFficers, NHS workers and Teachers useing the stables also. This one is just a concern.

Then just to add to our confusion and concerns we have just a minute ago had a message from MILs care home. Their food shopping order as been cancelled, this is the second time, they are running out of supplies, they are asking realatives if they can help, go shopping find food and supplies. This is a big national group care home, we can't fault their care BUT how can this be happening?

I consider Mrs MC and I to be bright intelligent people but we are getting more and more confused by what we can and can't do, we will probably have to be guided by our social consciousness, rightly or wrongly.

@Muddy Cyclist All I can speak to is your horse question. Is Mrs MC's yard DIY? Or full livery/board? If the latter, can she pay more for more care? If the former, can she arrange with another boarder, perhaps one of the police boarders, to check on her horse? Or surely they could advise as to this being essential travel/care on her part. I hope.

Same here MC I haven't bothered with my FBG I am now taking my temperature first thing...so far it's normal wanting to make sure I am well & I don't pass anything on unwittingly...as for the confusion many are still puzzled by the guidance issued I am all we can do is use our common sense wouldn't it be wonderful if our current administration did the same.

@Muddy Cyclist you are not alone in the confusion. One thing I picked up from the CMO public statement popping up regularly on tv is if you get it dont ring 111 unless you are very unwell or it goes on beyond 7 days. Re your mountain biking are there less dangerous trails maybe, has to be your choice rerisk but I cant see outdoor exercising as long as distance is maintained can be a problem. Re your holiday we are in exactly the same position. Have booked a cottage paid deposit and balance due 6 April. The terms and conditions say we have to give 4 months notice to cancel which we didnt have. What we want is for them to cancel but doubt they will. Hotel would be different.
I defo wouldnt go to any shops if you dont have to. I think that is probably the most risky of all your concerns along with socialising with friends. I have to go back to Boots to pick up a prescription and after the behaviour of the people in the queue yesterday it terrifies me. When son left shopping at my door yesterday I anti bac wiped every item before putting away.
We were wondering about a drive out on a nice day, only issue would be getting broken down! Just my musings on this MC, dont mind me.

Sorry to hear about care home food situation, this really should not be happening.
So many affected in so many ways. Take care you and Mrs MC.

FBG 8.0 this morning. So I am back on "heart-healthy" oatmeal for breakfast this morning.

Talking of common sense and governments ... I got this year's Census report document in the mail on Tuesday. Instead of a form for me to fill out and mail back, it is mere instructions to go online and fill in all my info.
Surely they must know this is a low-income senior address, full of people who wouldn't know how to go online and do anything even if they had computers on which to do so.
We do have a computer lab, and so far it has not been closed off, but with no one available there to help now, and our social workers working from home or behind closed doors here, I would like to ask the Census Bureau just how they expect us to fill out their online form.

At least I can assume they expect us to survive this epidemic ... or is it to be a last historic head count for future archaeologists to dig up? DOOMSday Book, anyone? :(
