What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Take care of it today @SlimLizzy

A great sketch @dunelm

It was amazingly exhilarating but probably not an experience that I want to repeat anytime soon.
The natural world can be awesome in its display of power. It reminds us of our weakness without the powerful tools we have made to combat its potential destructiveness.

Just heard on world service that members of choirs in Ireland have to be at least 5 metres apart.

You are right - the natural word can be awesome in its display of power. I think that is why it was so exhilarating. It felt like you were fighting something really powerful.

Have just read this statement from Anglian Water re: the damage at Sheringham. "Anglian Water said today that after further investigation the damage was not thought to have been caused by a sinkhole, but that the huge amount of water had lifted the road’s surface.
A spokesman said: “Following the exceptional amount of rain that has fallen this weekend, our teams have been working with the local authorities who have responsibility for drainage."

So we really were not exaggerating about the torrential downpour. The dogs leads and my rucksack are still wet this morning and are currently drying on the line.

5.3 this morning. Am actually feeling quite tired but have managed to do some work this morning.
Hairdresser this afternoon in Norwich. Nice to get hair cut before starting back to work in September.

Not feeling too brilliant today, think too much real coffee yesterday has upset the delicate orgainsm that is my stomach.
Waiting for Enedis ( electrical supplier) to come and upgrade the meter . wish hey would do something about the lw level supply.
Meanwhile have letters from water company demanding that we get our leak fixed and wanting to see proof in the form of paid plumbers bills. They think we have a leak because water consumption has tripled - ofc it has, we are here all the time now !

You've created one there gennepher that makes the Cheshire Cat look positively benign!

@SlimLizzy
Crazy about the water!

My power company won’t let me enter my gas reading online in the summer months, in that it doesn’t accept the reading, saying I have entered it wrong, because it is the same the month before, and the month before that, and so on. Of course the reading is the same, I do not use gas Central heating from March/April to October/November. I use no gas at all half the year, but I do use electricity. As I cannot hear on the telephone, an online friend (who I have never actually met but helps me with my monthly readings, I send her photos of the readings), telephones them and has words with them. All is okay until the next month’s reading (I have to enter readings monthly in order to get a £70 bonus each year).

Stormy day here but managed to retreat to the place Mrs MC says I make lots of saw dust, the garden shed. Stripped, back two chairs by hand, from MILs bungalow and Briwaxed them, very therapeutic.

@dunelm you put me to shame with all your practicing and a pleasing sketch as a result.

@gennepher a cat with some human features through my eyes, a good learning curve and mastered well.

I have finished my three Oak Trees, taken from a photo, A4 Watercolour, mostly with a rigger brush. Not quite so blue in the real world.

Thank you @Muddy Cyclist

A great oak tree trio. The child me would've made that my den with my dog Sandy...

good afternoon all

was 4.3 this morning

Feels like I haven't got much done today, been trying to bring order to the cupboard on the landing because it's drizzled steadily all day so I wanted something indoors to do Not dire weather just vaguely unpleasant to be out in. Restacking logs yesterday has resulted in a bit of a stiff neck so I'm feeling a bit creaky

Hope your day is treating you kindly

@dunelm - another interesting painting, that zen simplicity is not easy to achieve and it's surprising how the hint of the building and bridge focuses the landscape

@Muddy Cyclist - glad you managed to get your 'sing' in, particularly since it shows promise of better distancing for future sessions it's good to be able to do the things that bring joy but a hug for both your son and for the nightmares.
I'm liking the finished work muchly those trees have grand weight and scale and the texture in the undergrowth is very effective.

@gennepher - sorry my song reference didn't work out too well, I meant it as a compliment , here are the lyrics your painting reminded me of.

today's cat's personality shines out and the white on black with a touch of colour in the eyes adds a nice focus.

art bit -
was working on using the new watercolour pencils yesterday, tried my hand at some roses. Not really successful because I managed to fiddle about with the image until I'd overworked it
It will be in next weeks scanning batch so I've put it away until then (perhaps it will improve on reviewing, then again, perhaps not ).

here is today's offering - just the usual

MrSlim and Handy Andy fixing the roof
The water used to run down the side of the chimney and into the loft. Then down behind the new plasterboard wall in the bedroom below, heading straight for the newly installed electrical sockets. Am so glad it is fixed now.
And I managed to find the end of the drainpipe which is supposed to carry water away from our drive. Full of mud ofc. But now we can unblock it. So a good day all round.

Thanks @geefull for explaining. I am afraid I couldn't tell what the 'noise' was. If there is an actual video, then I have a clue whether it is music or singing. And then I have a reference point. Most music references are lost on me. Sorry.
Thanks for the words.
Thank you for the cat compliment.

When you say 'just the usual', it is a beautiful peaceful landscape I can get lost in...

@geefull 'Just the usual' Nothing wrong with 'the usual' a lovely summer scene, good light, depth and composition.

Thank you for your comments on my Tree painting.
