update for the end of day
I work from the 'back' of the picture to the front as layers keep things tidy. Put some stormy sky in but I'm so so about it (I've done 3 skies so far), mountain range at back and stack rocks in place. You can see by the splodges where the other rocks will go

Wet morning, cat on back door step, as rain is driving onto the more usual kitchen doorstep. Poor thing absolutely soaking wet. Dried him off with an old towel, fed and watered, he is now a slightly damp ball of contentment, sleeping in his allotted place. We were recently gifted a wooden box with a cushion. It's a little lower than a dining chair and the cat is able to jump up onto it. The box has been placed near to the kitchen door, so he can see out.
It's also a handy place to sit and remove muddy boots, which is, ofc the reason it was put there. Nothing to do with me wanting my chair at the laptop back.

I encountered layers back in old Photoshop days, thought it was a daft idea and promptly ignored it until I did a workshop on using PS professionally. Now, I would be lost without them as they immediately give me a sense of foreground, background, and everything between. I do name my layers as I use so many and can forget what they are for or the hierarchy.
Just remember they are 'top-down', so my backgrounds are at the bottom of the list with foreground at the top which is only overridden by characters.

Very funny. Our youngest son speaks Thai (being married to a Thai girl) - he never lets on when they are out and about.@Muddy Cyclist and Mrs MC congrats on your anniversary soon be your 50th myself and Judith wed in 1974 a couple of years after you in 1972 I had been in the RAF about 3 years and was stationed at RAF Mount Batten ironically in my home town where I met Judith who was also stationed at Mount Batten.
@ianpspurs talking of learning foreign lingo my brother in law when teaching in Bradford had to teach himself Punjabi in order to keep abreast of the jokes his class were making about him thinking he did not understand one morning he shocked them all by joining in their conversation. Took him nearly a month to learn the language.
Oh forgot fbg was 4.1 this morning.

everything here seems back to normal.
her ladyship decided pre lockdown to paint the bathroom,
her project, she wanted to learn how, for herself so i left it for her.

Big Mistake, apparently
Now it's not done, there are faint murmurings of discontent,
so I've now been silently coerced into doing it.
Little cat is now part of the furniture.
friends dog is also now on my daily to do list, as in walk him.
not quite the tiger king, but having animals around, is a nice feeling.

Its my own fault he thinks the chair at the laptop is his place. He spent many evenings on my lap there while MrSlim was away... so ofc its his first choice of place to sleep. The cat is slightly disabled and finds dining chairs just a bit too high for easy access, has to use his front paws to haul himself up, so other dining chairs hold no appeal, and the laptop end of the table also has a view out of the door. The cat seems very comfortable in his new location, although he does revert sometimes, if moved he settles without protest, but then he is a very amenable cat. still not making a fuss or struggle about ear drops, even after a month of treatment, with drops every other day.aww. love that.
and the clever way you recover your seat at the laptop.
enjoy..won't last long, i'm sure..
OK, so this is where's it's at and I'm going to leave it at that for now. In the future, I may return to it

I like the way this has turned out @Muddy CyclistSo my not sure which season I'm in watercolour of a Sweet Chestnut tree threw off the cloak of winter, I have no idea which season it's in now.I will do a winter painting in December.

Most things can always do with more work as we realise stuff we haven't considered, or don't have time to do, or with me I could chuck the whole thing out if I have to spend one more second on it...
What more could I wish for? My favourite Shakespeare play, my favourite art Brotherhood and a magnificent modern technical Preraphalite painting created by the threads creator. Go regain your sanity but I'm sure you will have been enrolled into a modern Preraphalite Brotherhood.
