Muddy Cycle ride was just the ticket for today. 3 hours and lots of different landscapes. Heather is out and smells sweet, passed an old Oak that reminded me of @gennepher art from a few days ago.View attachment 43415

On my ride I passed a lone Sweet Chestnut tree in a valley so from memory have decided to paint it at Sunset, the valley does run East to West so it works. The effect is Looking a bit wintery at the moment but I have put leaves on the tree so somehow I will have to bring it back a couple of seasons. A4 watercolour, will finish Wednesday, I have topaint an anniversary card now whenMrs MC goes off to the farm to sort her hoss. Wednesday marks the day we were wed back in 1972

I didn't know about unseen moulds either but read about it when I was looking for a way of improving Mr K's asthma and my allergy to moulds. Up to then I thought our house was absolutely mould free. It is interesting that there is stuff out there that will work = but the tricky part is finding it.

Mr K's asthma improved dramatically = so the dehumidifiers helped all of us.

Over the last few days the humidity has been sky high and the dehumidifiers have been on non-stop.

Trying to maintain a healthy humidity in a house is a nightmare. Because of all our musical instruments we have to try and keep our at 45% which is impossible to day its 67% and so instruments are swelling up in the winter it dives to 36% so instruments dry out, both conditions are bad news. It only takes a day below 40% to change a guitar enough to warrant a visit to a Luthier. I have special liquid filled bags and I put them in instrument cases to keep them at 45%. Mrs MC and I are not so lucky we have to put up with whatever our house throws at us, tried everything and at the end of the day good old draughts and open windows seem to work best.

My fbg this morning was 3.8 I don't know what's going on happening day after day then I normally start hitting high figures later in the day specially after taking preds this morning had some breakfast bg went up to 5.2 or so but now a couple of hours later back down to 3.3 it's leaving me feeling tired and not feeling like doing much maybe I should up my carbs a bit.

Can I assume pred refers to Prednisilone. If so then you have my sympathy. I am on 10mg daily until I pop my clogs.
Bitter experience has taught me that I need carbs in the morning, if my blood sugars remain low and I don't do something to correct my levels then my day is over such as yours. To help correct this and be able to function I resort to firstly jelly babies and or digestive biscuits, being careful not to over correct. I have also found that carbs take longer to kick start.
I have also been told by many Diabetic Consultants that Prednisilone makes blood sugar control very difficult. Not junior doctors or " diabetic nurses " . Hence why I come under the diabetic clinic at the local hospital and my bloods are also 2-3 points higher than most.
I am sure that you are aware that Prednisilone lowers your immune system, not a good idea during a pandemic.
Please feel free to disagree with me, no offence will be taken.

was 4.1 this morning

been over to mum's today to pick up her shopping list ready for the weekly shopfest tomorrow. We'll still pick up most of the shopping even though she ventured out on the bus last week to pick up her pension, (the local schools are back now so the route past her gate is running again).
We were and are worried but at 95 she goes her own way and is glad to get back a bit of normality. We've provided masks and sanitiser so at least we know that she has those and we won't be visiting the day after she uses the bus so there is a bit of a time buffer

@SlimLizzy - count me out for roof work, I can't go up more than a couple of steps on the step ladder you must be so glad to get that sorted though

@ianpspurs - interesting information, we've certainly cut down the number of trips we make to the shops, (she says, carefully not mentioning the alcohol consumption ).

@Alien Aspie - interesting insight into the process thank you, I look forward to the resulting piece of artwork

@dunelm - very solid feeling mountains there, you're getting well into the sumi-e it seems a very disciplined tradition of painting.

@gennepher - glad you were able to do something to help Popeye, it must have been so upsetting to see him like that and to get that opinion thank you for providing the information on how you are dealing with the challenge.
Hugs for your wrist pain, but you've still managed to provide us with a charming and fun little snail

@Muddy Cyclist - looks like a fantastic ride, the oak tree is impressive and the heather reminds me that we used to see it bloom regularly on our forest walk. We haven't been there since covid but perhaps if we pick a quiet time of day we could go there soon

Some 25 years ago I visited the Mariposa grove.
That was very special as is rain forest.

But all trees reach us deep down, we seem to have something very early in our history going on between them and ourselves.

I quite like the wintery feel to it. It could have been a snow scene! I would have left it as a snow scene...I am lazy!

I work from the 'back' of the picture to the front as layers keep things tidy. Put some stormy sky in but I'm so so about it (I've done 3 skies so far), mountain range at back and stack rocks in place. You can see by the splodges where the other rocks will go

I am understanding how you are working the layers.
I have not fully understood that before. I can see how 3-dimensionality can be achieved by this.
This is all very interesting to me.

What a nightmare. I had no idea that you needed to keep humidity around 45% for your musical instruments. I agree that even with dehumidifiers it is totally impossible. Thank goodness you have the liquid filled bags in your instrument cases to keep them at 45% - otherwise they would be completely ruined.

Another dull cloudy dawn and sunrise. Although there is a hint of pink spreading the grey clouds...

Popeye is fast asleep besides me, so here is a ZenBrush2 painting of him minus his white bits! Well you don't wear your tuxedo in bed do you?

I put it in Snapseed to get that thin black frame I like. And I accidentally touched a morning yellow light filter. Which is giving a wee bit of a yellowish paper effect. I decided to keep it for this painting.I am not too keen on the coloured paper effects in ZenBrush2. Maybe I will experiment a bit more with these colour filters in Snapseed once I have done the sketch in ZenBrush2.

Morning all. 4.2 from the jolly old sensor @ 5.44 is what I'll go with today. Probably about right for an OMAD - 2 burgers and salad. and small piece of dark choc Forecast to be wet, wet, wet hereabouts today or thereabouts. Should help the reseeded lawn area which is the trial plot - looks as though it may work. Looked good after the first trim yesterday so added more seed. We ventured into Norfolk yesterday - straight A road (A11) - for what I thought would be a simple gather a few berries, some olive oil and high % chocolate. Julie felt we needed to play supermarket sweep with the twist of paying. Stripped a place called Lidl (their burgers @ 0.5% carbs were ok) then across the road to buy dark choc (1 mini bar @ 4 gns carb, come in packs of 4 or 5) from Sainsburys. We are in charge of our youngest (until Feb, God willing) grandchild for 2 days - (she goes home at night) then Friday her big cousin, who mostly looks after himself - all of 7 years old but large.. Have great days - I will.
