Yes he is an amazing person he is still leading services at his church even though in pain but does not know how long he can continue doing so he is a licensed reader and lay preacher in the Anglican community. And is steadfast in his faith.John, you friend sounds amazing. I am guessing, very much hoping, he has retained his faith and that is a comfort.
6.5 today and I'm shocked! Shocked it's not higher. I'm on my jolies, half board here in Corralejo and goodness knows what's in this buffet food. I'm trying my best to make good choices. I feel my choices are excellent but my BS monitor does not agree. Still I'm.having a fab time. Here is today's social media post to give you a bit of a laugh:
Just a nice coastal walk today he said!!!! Seemed like a good idea. Happy with that. Got off to a good start. Weather on the upturn. 25 degrees and not a cloud in sight. Perfect.
Walking along for about an hour happy as Larry when the footpath abruptly came to an end.... but we hadn't reached the holy grail ('sea' bar in 5* hotel Bahai for drinks with spectacular coastal views as confirmed by local tour guide). We had to cross a very long stretch of sand. Not a problem....for most!
Oh the feeling of beautiful white sand between your toes ' OUCH THATS BL**DY HOT! ARE THEY BROKEN SHELLS I CAN FEEL? IS THAT THING ALIVE IN THERE, WHAT THE HELL, WHO'S IDEA WAS THIS!!!!' A german lady passing said 'you'd vud be better ov mit your sandals ov'. My school German came flooding back. 'Aufweidesehn Pet!!' But I politely smiled and trotted on, sandals still intact on feet... clinging on to them for dear life. Then the sand disappeared. Turned to stones! God they hurt. And not to mention the sweltering heat. Dragging my body along at this point. This pleasant walk was turning into some kind of Chinese torture. 'Are we there yet' I kept asking in my best spoilt child voice. Finally we came to the bar. Or was it a mirage??? No it was in fact a very upper class establishment open to non residents. Everyone looked like they were having breakfast at Tiffany's if you know what I mean. No handbag with me. No make up. No hair brush. No underarm!! No entry!!! My choice. 'Let's go to that nice glass fronted one half way back instead' he said. I was too exhausted to put up any sort of fight. Back over the stones and sand. This is what it must feel like doing the tough mudder I thought to myself.
Eventually got to said bar for light refreshment. And very nice it was too. Worth every grain of sand i will be washing out for weeks to come.[/Q

i like the photos ...brings back memories.. my then young family and i had a holiday there just before christmas 1989 we stayed somewhere near that beach area with the view of the town in the distance it looks a lot more built up now we used to walk along the coastal path each evening( no lighting had to use a torch.). to the harbour, then it was very spanish no english bars! i guess it has changed ... i have no fotos of that holiday as my camera packed up on day one unfortunatly6.5 today and I'm shocked! Thank you@gennepher what an amazing dream. I’m not surprised you were upset when you woke up though. I’ve had dreams which included loved ones now departed, and they were such a comfort at the time, but left me feeling empty all the next day. Good tip about the salt in your bottle of water though.
@ianpspurs enjoy your day with the little princess. I’m sure you are a dutiful subject and pay homage unstintingly. Little girls are good at wrapping granddads round their little finger.
.
Ah Kate . Best seen In "Van helsing"...(actress, dark haired beauty..but it is all in the eye of, etc.)
Not sure about what position I'd play her in, but I'd be more then happy to be the one swapping shirts with her
10.7 at 5 am.
I just needed the bathroom so that made me awake. So I took reading then.
Normally I do meditation and easy in bed exercises before I take reading.
So went back to bed to do meditations...remembered reading on here somewhere that someone said drinking more water would or did help their blood sugar readings.
I do have dry mouth all night, but I have Sjogrens Syndrome, and have dry mouth meds which don’t seem to have much effect. I do drink water in the night, but ladies of a certain age who have had a few children need to visit the bathroom rather more frequently (in fact my daily, and nightly, walking count is made up with bathroom visits).
Anyway, waking up at 5am, I thought I would have water instead of a cuppa tea or coffee to drink.
So I drank a 500ml bottle water straight off. I was so thirsty after drinking the water, I filled the bottle and had another straight off. I was tremendously thirsty so I am filling the water bottle and drinking another. Hang on I thought, this cannot be good for me, so I put a few flakes sea salt in the next bottle. A couple of sips of that bottle and my mouth is not dry any more and I don’t have this urge to keep drinking water. The actual water initially was not quenching my thirst, and making my mouth incredibly parched and dry.
The few flakes of sea salt in the water helped the water quench my thirst.
I started to do my meditation but promptly fell asleep into an amazing dream. This cottage in the hills in the countryside. People I knew who have died were there, including my partner who died 10 years ago. It was fantastic. We were there for a few weeks. Then it was time to leave the cottage. So we are outside, packing the cars. There is a well there with an ever flowing supply of clear beautiful water. I am trying to get the water in a 2 litre plastic bottle, but I am a bit clumsy, so this gentleman appears at the side of me. A large genial gentleman with a beard and he is helping me getting the water in the bottle and he is giving me advice, calming advice, his words are soothing and gentle (I am profoundly deaf in real life, so it is fantastic to be able to hear words in a dream).
But I need to urgently use the bathroom, and before I know what it happening, half asleep I am waking up and I stumble to my real bathroom.
I suddenly realise I am not in my beautiful dream any more, I’ve left behind my 2 litre bottle of healing water in my dream...I am upset...

Thank youYour dream reminded me a little of Jesus meeting the woman at the well in Samaria ... Lovely story, thank you for posting it.(Not comparing you to that particular woman at all!)
Hi0720 6.5 or 6.8 after mile brisk walk an hour later in the blustery wind that maketh chill fingers which require setting lancet depth deeper, yowtch!. Had a large meal late last night but have been walking much greater distances than at home. What gives? Where's that touted multi-day benefit of lots of vigorous walking? Ah well. I'm 8 months into this and maybe I require more time, being old.
@jjraak hugs for cramps. My leg swelling has suddenly and inexplicably but nicely gone down, and last night I was in bed (up twice though) for 7 hrs. The cramps think about it the minute I engage my leg muscles to get out of bed, so it's a contest between cramps and urgent bladder to see who loses out
@DJC3 wow I'm glad you survived the storm! Do you still have power? I sometimes get my best FBG on no sleep. Go figure.
@gennepher us ladies don't even have to have borne any babies to have this effect lol. I am also beginning to wonder if weight loss internally, and being missing a lady organ that's vital for filling up empty spaces, causes more trouble than just frequent step-count additions (what a great euphemism, I'm gonna remember that one!) and Oh My what a dream. How beautiful... I'm sorry it was so rudely interrupted! The healing water is still there waiting for you, and it won't go bad! This may be in bad taste, so tell me if it is. Since you can hear in dreams, can you hear sounds in your head while awake?Singing to yourself in your head?
@ianpspurs re #electrolytegate I am supposed to visit a kidney specialist to see why eating more salt didn't raise my sodium level the way dr expected. Recalcitrant systems girl, that's me. Oh my you are gonna have fun with the four princesses! Yikes!
Little girls have the disadvantage of not being a grandson so wrapping ain't gonna happen here. (She has a big brother - enough for now)

Ha! Don’t you believe it - you’ll be wrapped.
This is a thread for those chatterboxes who not only enjoy letting us know their daily fasting level but also like to engage in friendly banter above and beyond the simple 'hello'. I am not known for my banter but I do enjoy hearing from the regulars about how their day is going, feeds my soul.
So to you, my DCUK friends, here is a new page where you can be as verbose as you wish and still comply with the moderators stick.
Going to link names of regulars, kind of advert for this post and if I've missed your name I apologise.

Hi Everyone,
You may find the following information useful when contributing to this thread:
- Threads in the General Chat section of the forum do not appear in the Recent Posts list, so you may want to put the thread on Watch. You can do this by scrolling to the top of the page and looking at the line where the pages are listed. To the right, you will see a Watch Thread option. Click on it, and choose your preferred option when a new post is made (email and/or forum Alerts). That way you can keep up to date when new posts are made.
also
- Every thread, including threads in General Chat, are subject to the forum Ethos and Rules. This means that clique type behaviours, language and ‘us and them’ polarisation will be moderated the same as on any other thread. In the past we have had chat threads that have degenerated into small In Crowd groups being unwelcoming to newcomers, or snarking about events and people elsewhere on the forum. Hopefully this new thread will experience none of that. One way to keep this thread a friendly and welcoming place for everyone is to remember that anyone can see anything you say, whether they are logged into the forum or not, and that all rules on language and friendly support apply here as much as anywhere else on the forum.
